The Idol could be removed from most if not all missions and replaced with mercers which would increase its value with the Hippo Easter egg.

I’m sure some variation of this theory has been thrown around at some point, but in playing through Freelancer again recently, and looking at the isolation, the relaxing environment, and the overall opulence and luxuriousness of the safehouse even before adding in the furniture that 47 personally selected, and I’m starting to realize something: the safehouse was almost certainly meant for Diana, and she decided to give it to 47 instead.

47 has always lived a relatively spartan life, never staying anywhere for whatever length of time he deems as being too long, always staying in out-of-the-way places that help him keep a low profile. He doesn’t usually stay in fancy hotel rooms or swanky apartments, at least nothing that would be considered higher than upper-middle class. Only his suits, his weapons, and the places he eats denote any kind of indulgence in the luxuries his profits can grant him. Even with Providence gone and him no longer working for ICA (also gone :disappointed:), he’s still the genetic Holy Grail of research into biological warfare, and even as an urban legend, there are still people looking for him. So why would he now decide to have a permanent base of operations, and one that is so upscale? Returned memories and self-determination or not, why would he just suddenly come to the conclusion of taking such a risk?

Looking at Diana, on the other hand, she has always been into living the high life. I don’t know if it’s compensation for the dark turn her life took, or if she just feels that she might as well indulge in the finer pleasures in life so long as she’s already technically a career criminal. Either way, Diana likes to live in luxury; from her yacht base (now non-canon), to her Chicago mansion (I think she was technically just renting, but still), to her secluded cabin, to her global offices (we’ve seen her in France, Denmark, and Japan, and I’m pretty sure she’s got one in the UK somewhere), it’s always opulent living/working spaces for her, though not grotesquely so.

So, looking at the safehouse and its surrounding land, I’m pretty sure it’s a location Diana had commissioned for herself, and decided to gift it to 47 when they decided to go freelance. Either as an apology for once again tricking him and putting him in a situation where he was in their enemies’ clutches, a show of good faith that she’s calling it even between the two for what they’ve done to each other (three perceived betrayals and two poisonings from her side, murdered parents and a gunshot to the torso from his), or just a gift to invite him to finally enjoy more of the finer things in life rather than just his work equipment now that he has the option of doing so in relatively greater safety, I think Diana decided to either stick with what she already had or build another place for herself elsewhere and just turned this one over to 47 instead, once he accepted her job offer.

You know those incredibly long diatribes that Flat Earthers come out with to rationalise that the earth is flat?

I feel like I’ve just read the Hitman Lore equivalent of that.

Are you saying that you disagree, or that you just don’t like my extreme thoroughness?

I’ve always had different theories on the Safehouse and I’ve always thought it was either a previous obsolete building of Providence or the ICA and Diana acquired it for 47, knowing they would both be working together as Freelance operatives. Plus, she would have all these details given she was working closely with Arthur Edwards, so she would have been forward planning.

Looking at the Safehouse building, it has Ivey coming from the roof, rusted guttering etc, so it shows the building has stood for some time, which leads me to believe it has constructed either by Providence or the ICA.

Diana likely had some of the building modernised during their year apart prior the ā€˜New Deal’ encounter. Personally, I think it was likely a residence of Providence as they are now completely eradicated, however, remnants of the ICA are now likely out looking for blood, so 47 wouldn’t risk setting up shop here, unless he wasn’t completely satisfied he wasn’t going to be become compromised. To be fair, looking at the surroundings near the Safehouse, the area is completely in the middle of nowhere, so I doubt anyone would even know he is living here.

Speaking of the ā€˜New Deal’ cutscene, I’ve always had the theory that the phone and paperwork on the table was the details to the location of the Safehouse. It ties in nicely to the ending of Hitman III to then begin Freelancer.

Like we’ve discussed in the past, by the time the next game comes around, I believe the story would have a slight time jump and 47 naturally would have moved on from the Safehouse (even though I’d love him to stay here )

A sensible theory, and I’d be more inclined to think ICA than Providence, but even so, it still seems to me, looking at the place, that Diana probably intended it for herself, even if she didn’t have it made directly, and then changed her mind when she decided to bring 47 in for her Freelancer idea. Not much to go on for that beyond it being more Diana’s style to have such a place than 47’s, but it’s what makes the most sense to me, lacking anything concrete.

Yeah I can see it from this side as well to be fair. I definitely think Diana had the maintenance work commissioned during that one year absence period before 47 got back in touch with her to start their Freelance work.

New safehouse decorations, on the theme of ā€œCasino Monarchiqueā€.

Ok now that bar is what I’m talking about!

Where is that bar? In the gym with the poker table? Or did we finally get something interesting for the basement bar?

Yes, it is located at the gym.

Love that new water fountain!!!

Speaking of Safehouse decorations, when new Celebrity ET’s arrive and IOI support Freelancer with new Safehouse decorations, I wonder if we’ll ever get anymore for other areas, like 47’s office and bedroom area, or indeed the basement area? The last couple we’ve had have just been themed for the Gym area? I know the Seasonal Decorations have come and they are themed for both inside and outside, but I’m talking about decorations for when Celebrity ET’s arrive.

Do you always get the roulette wheel if you select the poker table or are they separate items?

Having a poker table in your home is not unusual. A roulette wheel? Never seen it!

I think that it would have been cooler if there was a private casino customization for the vault where you can bet with the freelance currency cash instead of looking at the market auctions
