I’m going to bet that Heisy hasn’t played a lot of nor tinkered with making contracts. Well, that was the first time I came across that gun. Otherwise, there’s hardly any reason to go there in the main/normal mission.
I have, just not in Paris. When I play contracts, I like to go for the high profile NPCs. In the case of Paris, that’s really just the Shiek, Helmut Kruger, Sabastian Sato, and Decker. No reason going after any of those to take me into that room.
How is that silly? A) you wait for him to come to you, because he’s going to walk down that hallway toward the stairs, throw a coin into the side room under a chandelier and drop it when he’s under it, or B) enter his bathroom, lure him in with the radio when he’s close enough to it, then pop him. No reason to ever go into his actual bedroom, and if you’re trying to do it stealthily, he’ll never be in there by the time you get to him.
And then I pointed out why going into the Sheik’s bedroom (that’s important, the bedroom specifically, not the overall suite) is silly, because he doesn’t stay in that area and unless you just run straight to him, security be damned, you’ll never get to him while he’s in there.
Shiek and Destroy would be a little less cumbersome. Shiek being a stand-in for seek, and seek and search are synonymous, so no real need to add that and it takes away from the pun.
The REAL thing to go for in the Sheik’s room is the portable radio. Can’t wait for that thing to be an unlock… Well, as long as it plays this music! (it’s been broken since H2)
Edit: While I’m here… I can’t help but notice… I hope everything is okay.
i was playing that berlin escalation where you unlock new starting locations per level (edit: Lesley Celebration) and found out despite removing the Rave On suit requirement you still cant pick a briefcase (for context any suit start that says “you must wear a specific suit” always restricts you from taking a briefcase ala a disguise start - for example the Auction start in Paris does so too, as did the Patient Zero start and ofc. the club entrance start before the loadout was opened up). This isnt a bug, it has unique text for picking a briefcase which says instead of “you cant take this in the disguise” it says “this start wont let you take this item” so it was a deliberate decision when making the mission to have a fallback where you cant use briefcases to prevent it from being made easier i guess
I just found out you can electrocute and explode targets at the same time while getting a “collateral kill accident” in Freelancer. I wonder if it counted as an explosive kill, or an electrocution kill? Or both?
Edit: this thing posted my original statement before I went back and watched again, and rewrote before posting. Don’t know why it did that, but ignore what was originally here, it was incorrect:
I would guess the explosion, because the system doesn’t register that the target is dead until they fall over after being electrocuted, while it registers an exploded target as being dead while they’re still in the air. During that clip, although the bodies are still being electrified, I think that’s just the game carrying out that animation until it’s supposed to stop, even if the NPC is already registered as dead. So I would say the explosion killed both and the electricity is just a funny thing to see as the effect plays out.
A technicality that might make a difference is that the electrocution could be registered when the animation ends, which happens early with an explosion.
Exactly. That’s why I think it happened how it looks in that clip.
Btw, I had to edit my post because what I originally was going to post was wrong, but the forum didn’t post the changes I had made, for some reason.
Edit: and it just did it again with this one. Wtf is going on? It’s posting things I typed and deleted instead of what’s actually there when I hit the button.
After shooting (sniping) Dawood Rangan in the hand as we was antagonizing poor Mike, he fell. You’ll have SA for a few seconds, then you lose it for some strange reason. Anyway, I used the freecam mod to see if I could see his body. I’m certain he falls into the cement pool below him, but I didn’t find his body.
However, going underneath the lowest/ground level I could see the “sky” was black like night with stars. Which makes me wonder… If changing a time of day is merely a matter of flipping this skybox 180 degrees.
Yea I’d agree with your assessment. But you never know with this game. Only way to find out 100% is to do it again when I have “electrocution kill” as an objective.
