Things About Hitman You Just Found Out

Ask him to go to more dangerous part of the town, we need to make sure.

Is Yuzhong District a dangerous one?
Does it exist at all?

Idk, but as far as I know there are Parts of Hong Kong where only 4 Men in exactly the same brown Suits walk around.

Yeah it does exist, but the in-game display of the district is written wrong. The in-game one is named “榆中”, which is a name of a county of the city of Lanzhou, while the actual name is “渝中”. They both pronounce exactly the same, though, so can’t blame IOI for this one. I am not sure about it being dangerous or not.

This one is in Chongqing:

And this one is in Lanzhou:

The Patriot was a placeholder for the plague doctor disguise in the 2016 alpha :joy: can’t believe no one here’s mentioned that yet. He’s weirdly shiny looking in it and has facial hair (?)

And eyeliner!

A bit interesting as well is that the “object” placeholder for it (and the red Soders in Hokkaido) is the Codename 47 model

But why? Do you know why they did that? Or any suggestions?

Saw these guards in Dubai talking about Stuyvesant’s replacement bodyguard. One of them mentions that the guy worked for Dawood Rangan before this job.

This is the guy being talked about, named Karthik Kulkarni.

So I thought let’s give Mumbai a visit.

Voila!

Well here’s another interesting thing for you to know, In the restaurant there are several lanterns with a Chinese word written on them. The word is exactly “鼠” (Shǔ) which precisely means “mouse” or “rat”. :mouse:

Traditionally, several Asian countries use 12 Zodiac signs (animals) to keep track of which year it is. During Chinese new year, there will be animal themed decorations to celebrate new year like this one. So IO does get right about the year of rat, which is 2020, the year H3 takes place.

You can find your Zodiac sign here. Mine is pig, by the way. :pig:

I’ll have to look into it later (or anyone else can check and verify)… But I’m thinking of the pigeons in Whittleton Creek, where you had to hunt them down and shoot them. Can the rats in this mission be shot?

Edit: I mean, there was even a challenge in Hantu-Port or one of the other Sniper Missions with the same theme. So maybe… :man_shrugging:

"PARIS TOWN HALL

Do not leave any trash on the public walkway.
Sort your garbage.
Deposit your garbage in the appropriate bin."

In case anyone wanted to know what that meant.
Cool! I’ve never seen that one before, not even in Paris.

I’m pretty late but I just remembered this:

Eidos typically kept their franchises on strict schedules – Tomb Raider every 12 months, Hitman every two years – to keep their investors happy. By the time the Sikh controversy hit, Io was already crunching hard on Hitman 3, the intended conclusion to their trilogy. “We seriously thought that the world would grow tired of Hitman after the third game,” says Andersen, and they wanted to go out with an ambitious adventure that topped everything they’d done before.

Eight months in, the Io team realized they didn’t have a hope of delivering it on time. They quickly called a crisis meeting with Eidos CEO Mike McGarvey.

Their first decision: Put Hitman 3 on ice. Their second: research told them less than 10% of Hitman 2’s audience had played the PC-only Codename 47. “We decided to make Hitman 2.5 with some of the best content from Hitman 1,” says Andersen, remastering everything via the Hitman 2 engine. With most of the Io team knee-deep in a separate project titled Mercenaries, a skeleton crew went to work and delivered Hitman: Contracts in just seven-and-a-half months.

It’s absolutely insane how IO was working on so many games at the same time from around 2000-2005 and yet they are all still loved today. Especially considering the small amount of employees IO had (around 25 pre-SA)

Codename 47 releases after around 4-5 years of work on the Glacier engine, Silent Assassin is likely already in early production, the Glacier engine is being rebuilt from the ground up. In early 2002, before Silent Assassin even released, they already announced Freedom Fighters (meaning it must have already started development).

About a month after Silent Assassin releases, the Sikh controversy hits, we know from this interview by this time they were already hard at work on Hitman 3 (Blood Money), which they were not able to do on time. They effectively put it to sleep for the time being and begin working on ANOTHER game. All of this around the same time period. And yet, despite working on three games around the same time (I don’t know specifics :)), Codename 47, Silent Assassin, Freedom Fighters and Contracts are all still very appreciated today. Then of course IO begins work on Blood Money before Kane & Lynch.

TLDR

It’s crazy how Silent Assassin, Freedom Fighters, and Blood Money/Contracts (sort of) all overlapped in development at a point, especially considering the amount of employees IO had, yet all three games are still considered good-great. (and yes I do know they had assistance from their “parent” companies)

In Silent Assassin you can hide in the shadows after shooting out a light. Read about this in some archived interviews awhile ago and just tested. It looks true.

I know it’s a thing in Contracts but a bit buggy (in my experiences) and hidden. Blood Money advertised a type of darkness feature but barely implemented it in the end, had no clue about it being in SA though.

The Jacuzzi Job and Terminal Hospitality both heavily rely on darkness at some point. The main problem seems to me that most H2:SA locations also have a lot of natural light, and 47 can do many things, but he can’t shoot out the sun :frowning:
