i havent watched doctor who since capaldi took over but i had to do a double take at this. super unconventional choice, actually very excited to see what energy he brings to it
Still not a ginger.
From the way it was revealed, there is something behind the scene at the beeb and the doctor who production.
Ncuti Gatwa is great for the role. Right kind of charisma and energetic way of acting (physical and expression). Also : young and new generation.
That plus Russel T Davies at the helm.
Hopeful, could be a great and fun ride. Which is all I wish for in Doctor Who.
dont worry about that, if it gets a comic adaptation he’ll be a ginger in no time
Interesting stuff. Personally, I thought the 14th Doctor would be another woman to really cement it.
The man who gave us Series 1-4, the Eccleston and Tennant series of the show.
To be honest, I’m fed up of the Chibnall era of the show. Not a fan of Whittaker’s Doctor. It might be the most boring era of the entire show. So to see a new Doctor and RTD back, I’m hoping to get some excitement back. I want my enthusiasm to return so I can feel the need to complete my collection of Classic Who DVDs.
I didn’t think they’d necessarily cement it with another woman so much as with another not-white-male.
I like Whittaker herself…but she really was saddled with some crap writing. It would have been interesting to see one series with her and Davies.
Love Death and Robots Season 3 looks fun, as it usually does.
Three Robots is getting a sequel in this! Very hyped!
And Night of the Mini Dead looks cute and fun.
Also Troy Baker. (Last season had Nolan North)
I just watched Moon Knight and I’m honest, I have never heard of the comics before and I enjoyed watching the series but I have absolutely no clue what’s going on
Since the last episode I have more questions than answers I really hope for a season 2 that hopefully will explain some things. Or maybe everyone knows what’s going on and it’s just me who doesn’t understand the plot
believe me, even with comics moon knight gets a little confusing as you don’t know whats real and what’s not real.
Oh so you mean even the comics don’t explain if the psychiatry is real or not?! Damn
My fiance and I watched all of Daria recently.
Damn, what a phenomenal show. Really wish I watched it sooner.
I find it unlikely. They’ve already messed up with Wesker. And yeah, I know that complaining a white character is being played by a black actor is the first lesson in closeted racism 101, but hear me out; the character of Wesker was based on his arrogant belief in superior genetics, particularly his own. As a man with blonde hair, blue eyes, fair skin and general European ancestry, it’s a hallmark of someone like him to exhibit such beliefs, on top of what Umbrella instilled in him. His being an example of what the Third Reich considered an ideal man plays a huge role in why he does the things he does, it is practically a feature of being super Caucasian to hold such Darwinian eugenicist beliefs. Making a character like that an African American not only makes that mindset less believable, but is also an insult to people of African descent, who were historically major targets of attempts at eugenics.
Normally I wouldn’t have an issue and having a character as suave as Wesker played by someone so cool would work, but it means either a change in Wesker’s whole motivation or an unintentional insult. That being said, it seems that they are changing Wesker’s story, because apparently he has daughters, last I heard about this. Wtf?!
So it does not appear that they are sticking with a faithful telling of the story. Not saying it won’t be good on its own; it might. But, again, it’s not looking to be a faithful adaptation.
And I apologize if that still sounds offensive for complaining about a white character played by a black actor. Like I said, I’m normally open to such casting choices, but I genuinely don’t think this one makes sense based on the character.
The only comic book I’ve ever read is the Dark Empire one from Star Wars. I have never read any of the marvel superhero stuff. That said, I love the MCU offerings, including Moon Knight and have no issue with plot holes, timelines, weird character takes, inconsistencies, or any of it…
I have no idea why the psychiatry office stuff is in there other than to stress how Mark/Stephen are conflicted in their mind.
The Orville is one of the best Star Trek shows ever made… and I have never heard any one even try to dispute that.
Giving my humble opinion as a black man, I think that’s bullshit 101. You’re not at all racist for complaining about it.
I appreciate that. I still feel uncomfortable though, since there’s been enough meaningless complaining about that kind of thing in situations where it didn’t matter and didn’t affect the story in any meaningful way. This just happens to have a reason where anyone other than an Aryan-looking white guy doesn’t make sense for the character unless they’re changing the character completely.
I agree but they’re not only just changing him. They seem to be going with original characters as the leads and setting it in present day at least for a while. I don’t know how I feel about it but I’m not exactly boosting with optimism. I guess time will tell.
Let’s not go crazy. It’s not better than Deep Space Nine. Or The Next Generation.
