Succession Spoiler Alert: very few lessons are learned.

Kendall is still alive and that baffles me frankly. Too many reasons for too many people to get rid of him.

On the one hand, Alien: Earth is a stupid name.

On the other hand, Timothy Olyphant is in the cast (as an android) and it’s created by Noah Hawley, so at the very least it’ll be interesting.

Wow that SURE IS a teaser…! Have they even like, filmed anything yet??

But yeah I’ve heard the showrunner for this is the same guy who did FX’s Legion, which I have yet to see but I see it bounced around a lot as a really good psychological thriller - often regarded in the same vein as Mr. Robot.

Actually (:stuck_out_tongue:), shooting wrapped in mid July.

And Hawley also does Fargo, which is a million times better. (Never could get into Legion. :slightly_smiling_face:)

Dexter: Original Sin trailer

I’m hyped for this. Which is probably a bad thing. This feels like one of those shows that can collapse on itself. As a long time Dexter fan, i really hope it’s as good as it looks.

In fairness, I thought it was a bad idea when it was first announced. Seeing it now, I’ll admit it has potential. It’s gonna be limited potential, though; this series can’t be any longer than 3 seasons, tops. Enough of Dexter’s backstory on how he became what he is was covered in the original series that there’s only about two dozen kills, max, that could be shown without breaking continuity.

Also, where’s young Doakes?!

A picture has been circling around of Some Fries Motherfucker and the new guy

I reckon it’s going to be a subplot exploring Doakes’ war journey. This takes place in 1991 and he joins Miami Metro PD later than that (iirc.) Or maybe they’re gonna reconsider some aspects and have this an a definitive past?

I have a feeling, or more like a hope, that Jane Widdop gets cast as young Elle.

Jane has they/them pronouns, FYI.

They’re 22 but play teenagers pretty well as shown above with them playing Laura Lee Nosurname in Yellowjackets, which also happens to be an Amazon Prime series.

And Jane actually fancasted Reese Witherspoon for adult Laura Lee on Yellowjackets and gushed over her after Reese praised them.

C’mon, Reese, put the kid in the picture.

Then again, seeing it’s open casting, Witherspoon may not have them in mind right now.

For what it’s worth, Yellowjackets is a Showtime series.

Oops. It showed up on my Amazon Prime, so I thought it originated there. My bad.

EDIT: why did I italicise Amazon Prime?

To be fair, it was a lot easier to keep track of these things when there were only three networks.

Maybe the last role of Lance Reddick?

PS: Think I got confused and it’s actually a movie.

I have another Batman show to suggest (sorta). Penguin on HBO Max looks like it will be super good. First episode really left me wanting more and second episode comes out tomorrow. Now I understand why they got Collin Ferrell to play Penguin in the movie when he was really a small part. He’s back for the show and supposedly there won’t be any Batman sightings at all. Full focus on how Penguin became a big baddie.

Yeah, I’ve heard it most equated to The Sopranos, but set in Gotham and starring Penguin. Farrell does a fantastic job, but my Penguins will always be Nolan North and Robin Lord Taylor.

is it normal to release the first official trailer 9 months before it comes out? that feels insanely early to me :sob:

Based on episode one that seems accurate. The Falcone family is a big part. I like the non theatrical bad guys in Batman. It’s easy to just watch the films and assume all the bad guys play dress up and are insane lol.

That’s one of the cool things about the Batman franchise, how it’s constantly juggling the villain types of organized crime on one side, represented best by Carmine Falcone, the secret society/conspiracy groups on another side, best represented by the Court of Owls, and then the insane supervillains with a gimmick on the last side, best represented by the Joker. And sometimes, there’s crossover, like how Penguin, Two-Face, Black Mask, and the Great White Shark represent a combination of types 1 and 3, while the League of Assassins and Order of Saint Dumas represent types 2 and 3, and the Black Glove mixes them all. Pick your flavor of villain, Batman’s got it.
