It sounds like, despite stating it’s only a gap of a few months, the writers forgot this and thought they were setting it a few years later. Weird though, because as a writer, the timeline is one of the key things you keep an eye on, so you don’t play yourself with temporal issues like this!
To be fair, Dexter having to go through physical therapy after he woke up from his coma seems more like something coming from years of inactivity rather than just a few months. I’m no doctor, so I don’t know how accurate that is, but yeah, it seems more like they’re operating on a timeline of years passing instead of the explicitly stated months.
Tonights the night.
Finally getting to watching CITY The Animation! It’s a new anime comedy series based on a manga from the creator of Nichijou: My Ordinary Life, another great comedy series!
And yeah, this is basically Nichijou 2!
You follow a big cast of characters throughout this CITY, as some wild, human, slapstick, supernatural happenings get in the way of things.
Man, I rewatched Seasons 1 and 2 in August just cause I suddenly felt like it (and also forgot most of the stuff after 15 years, obviously), and.. yeah… I had completely forgotten what an annoying character Lila was. Had to skip over most of her scenes… Otherwise S2 is fantastic. I love Lundy.
I remember liking S3 as well back in the day. Felt more… easygoing? (for lack of a better word) After the darker ending of S2, it was just all around more fun. Then S4 came…
Yep, season 3 is just entertaining and not that serious. There is no one that seems like a real threat to Dexter, Miguel is just funny and the Skinner only confronts Dexter briefly in the end.
Lundy is great, even though he reminds me of the not so good Dexter in Hitman, having the same actor.
Oooooh I missed it, but last week Disney finally released Season 3 of Star Wars Visions!!
This season focuses once again on just japanese animation, and it even has a few sequel episodes to ones from Season 1! Woooo
Disney Death Stranding Anime!?
Hey maybe this means it’ll be in Kingdom Hearts someday lol.
Yay!
Wait, not yay!
Wait… WHAT???
- Show S2 ends on a cliffhanger
- Cannot get a renewal for the show
- BUT if renewed, will recast the main character as someone completely different, eyeing a switch-up like this will happen every few seasons.
By no means is Peter Dinklage a bad actor just…
Why not make a spinoff. Wh, wh, how is this all… huh…?
Not a reboot and it seems like a lot of people involved were writers and producers on the original show(s), so ![]()
On the way to Whittier, Alaska there’s a tunnel that always reminds me of the Cheyenne Mountain opening shot they’d use in Stargate SG-1. This old Google Streetview photo doesn’t do it justice because now there are more street lights like in the show, but you get the vibe
Just finished the first volume of Stranger Things 5. There are various downsides to name. The “kids” have long been bear-ass adults. Their lines were fitting in the first two seasons but not now. Much less horror than s4, and that was the very thing making s4 tolerable in the first place.
And for Christ’s sake nobody ever dies. Every main character cling to life through any possibility available. Just let go.
The writing was quite acceptable in the end, with enough twists and development in a way to wrap everything from S1 up once and for all. Definitely better than what they did with the last Mission Impossible movie.
Edit: I’ve heard Pluribus is worth a shot. Should I start or do I wait for the full season to release?
I enjoyed the first four episodes well enough. It is a little ridiculous that they still try to pass these actors off as high school students, but they’re focusing on what makes the show really work. The characters are all together and they’re planning and executing insane and exciting ideas. They cut out Argyle, which is a 10/10 move because that guy sucked so hard and dragged all of s4 down with him whenever he was on screen (no offence to the actor, he didn’t write his lines or anything). Derek is a surprise highlight, and the episode 4 reveal with Will was great.
Also Pluribus is really good. I haven’t caught up to episode 5 yet but it’s a really neat “how do we escape this insane scenario” story stretched out to series-length. Rhea Seehorn is great as the lead and it’s fun watching her character trying to logic her way out of absurdity. Definitely check it out if you’re a fan of sci fi and/or Vince Gilligan’s previous work.
I watched the first three episodes of The Creep Tapes, it’s pretty good so far. It’s more entertaining and focused than season 1, which I still enjoyed but at a certain point felt like it was repeating itself. Every episode so far has explored a different-feeling concept that’s kept it fresh and engaging. Nothing compared to the second Creep film, though. Still hoping for the return of Sara at some point, ideally in Creep 3.
They did a great job limiting character view times but hell the average episode length was 75 minutes still.
Couldn’t say I’m a fan of Gilligan but I did enjoy BB. Let’s see what this one offers.
I was hoping to get a whole series rewatch of Stranger Things done before Season 5 came out, but I only managed just Season One. ![]()
Ah well, good to revisit the classic.
It definitely feels much different than the rest of the series by now. Slow-burn mystery. Kids doing kid shenanigans while investigating, hiding it from their parents.
Chief Hopper digging into Will’s disappearance brings up shady surveillance cars, government coverups, as he slowly abandons typical police work to just breaking laws (and breaking jaws) to find the truth. ![]()
And man some of the recurring government agents are just SO hateable! The one blonde gal gets on my nerves with how effortlessly she manipulates and hides her real intentions…
I found Nancy and Jonathan’s sideplot near the middle a little slow, as they slowly come to terms with a roaming monster in the town and slowly decide “yeah let’s hunt it”, which gets delayed till the very end.
I’ll probably be watching Season 5 soon to get on the hype train, and avoid spoilers as its still fresh on the internet. But hopefully I can rewatch the whole show before the finale next year.
I’m excited to get to Season 2 at some point. It’s probably my favourite one with the whole “otherworldly posession” plot involving Will.
Gosh Noah Schnapp is a great actor and it feels like he kinda got sidelined again after S2.
Also the Mind Flayer is a great spooky big-bad. I hope it’s still the big-bad in S5…
Also that first trailer for it with Thriller, god DAMN it’s still SO good!! ![]()

Oh hell yes, theatrical screening of the finale let’s goooo
Started Season 5 tonight. Cool cool. Things are a lot more calm than I expected. Like, in the last season, hell ripped open from under the town. A massive gate for Vecna to send his monstrous troops to dominate the world.
But like, maybe not?
Hawkins is mostly fine. The military swooped in and welded a huge metal barrier across the town, and that basically stopped it, apart from one they couldn’t patch up. Okay.
Things move really quite fast in the opening episode. You find out what “The Crawl” is in a very quick explanation, all hinging on things going okay, which I’m sure they very well will not. Hopper going on some recon tour, but also maybe not, and also somehow potentially returning okay.
Also, I realised they really love framing some innocuous shots of like, someone stepping out of a truck, or grabbing a bag, and adding a “THWOOM” or “SWOOSH” sound effect, especially in a montage, for extra epic effect.
Lol, season 1 definitely didn’t have that much cool-factor emphasis, apart from maybe a couple of nice jump-cuts.
Anyway, after seeing Season 1’s Upside Down and “the atmosphere is toxic”… uh what happened to that? Why can everyone seemingly be there without masks now, be fine? Odd.
And hey, I can buy into the fantasy of it. I can gobble up the plot happily. But man, *my eyes do not decieve me. Everyone is freaking OLD now.
The kids’ voices have dropped like rocks, it depends on the shot but sometimes they look in their mid twenties. Lucas is fighting off a 5 o’clock shadow it seems. Like, damn…
Also Holly has aged up like 9 years in just 4. (She’s also a different actress, but yeah, she’s much older than she should be. She was a toddler in season 1. She looks like a teen now.)
Gonna try to take my time getting through these 4 episodes, pray I don’t get spoiled in the next few days guys ![]()

Neat new trailer for Wonder Man. Finally getting some actual tease for the audience that Simon is actually superpowered.
So I guess he’s a superhero who wants to become an actor yet keep his secret identity. Cool.
Ryan Hurst has been cast as Kratos in Amazon’s God of War series.
You may be familiar with Hurst for playing Thor in God of War Ragnarok lmao ![]()
(Amazon has the chance to cast Christopher Judge next as the funniest thing…
)
Anyway MMM reminder of this 8-minute scene introducing Thor in GOWR, so good…
