The Muppet Show is being brought back with our very special guest star, Sabrina Carpenter!

And rather than getting a full season of 24 episodes, it’s a one off special. Oh well, it took the original show two pilot episodes to get picked up for a proper run. Kinda crazy it took Disney so long to decide to go back to The Muppet Show format

My friend got to watch this early the other day and he really liked it :3

I didn’t know who Sabrina Carpenter was so I looked her up on Wikipedia…and I still don’t know who Sabrina Carpenter is beyond “singer/actor”. LOL!

But I do know the Muppets, having watched them my entire lifetime (from the very beginning, in fact!). I’m excited about that!

I mean to be fair not knowing the very special guest makes it pretty accurate to the original series! At least for me. The original Muppet Show was a few decades before my time so when I watched it I had no idea who someone like George Burns, Ethel Merman, or Liberace were.

That was a strength though of the original series. You really didn’t need to know who the heck the people were because they always managed to come up with some interesting musical performance or funny comedy bit involving them and the Muppet cast.

There are very few of the original Muppet Show guest stars I don’t know, although when they first ran I didn’t. The Muppet Show is slightly younger than I am so when I was watching it before the age of 5 or so, it was more for the Muppets than the guests.

People today complaining about pronouns on a desktop name tag in the He-Man trailer, while for 50 years we’ve been watching a prima donna pig try to fuck a frog. The world has changed.

People are complaining about that? I thought it was actually a clever way of implementing the “He-Man” name without resorting to extremely outdated modes of speech from the 40s or something… so yeah, of course they’re complaining about it.

I forgot how much I liked Chief Inspector Keto from Man in the High Castle.

Fallout Season 2 has concluded.

Kinda gotta get the big one out of the way.

Season 2 really played it safe on the canonizing of the events of Fallout New Vegas. What I mean by this is all Factions both major and minor exist in Season 2 with no definitive ending being drawn.

rather it’s handled in a way where any of them can be canon. Theres arguments in the usage of Robert House, but given the no stones unturned nature of the character it was a given he’d appear in Artificial Intelligence form.

Season 3 seems to be shaping up to Focus on Colorado, Super Mutants, and the Enclave. While Focusing on the Legion/New Vegas stuff aswell.

in general Season 2 was enjoyable, but it quickly gets disjointed due to the various plots going on.

Vault Dwellers, Cooper (pre war and post war), Lucy, Maximus, and Norm. Just a lot going on that the show lacks focus.

Worth a watch.

The Muppet Show revival special with Sabrina Carpenter released yesterday, and it was fantastic!

What I love about it is they didn’t change the format at all, the guest gets a few songs and comedy bits, but there’s still a wide variety of other Muppet acts, including classic ones like The Great Gonzo and Muppet Labs. They even made sure to include details like Kermit and Fozzie moving in the intro to not be covered by the sign and a Statler and Waldorf joke after the credits! I’m honestly surprised they decided to keep the laugh track too, but it’s more subtle and pretty well implemented.

What I like is that they didn’t just try to do a bunch of “remember this?” moments. Like there’s a bunch of fun cameos like Mahna Mahna and the Snowths, but I’m so glad they didn’t try to rehash their song again and instead did more original stuff while keeping the format faithful. Plus it’s cool seeing Muppets like Pepe the King Prawn and Bobo the Bear who were too new to appear on the original Muppet Show!

And my favorite part is that Seth Rogen didn’t try to insert himself into the show a ton!

The bottom line is I really enjoyed it, so hopefully Disney actually funds a proper full season of revival episodes (of course nowadays a “full season” is like 8 episodes that take two years to make)

I NEED MORE WONDER MAN ARRRGHHH :weary_face::weary_face:

What a fantastic grounded show. All about a guy trying to make it big as an actor, while also keeping his secret superpowers under wraps. A couple tiny issues I had with one or two events, but maaaan that ending… I want MOOOOREEE…

I’ve also started watching the show Interior Chinatown. A great meta-comedy series spoofing Law and Order police procedurals, and a great message so far about certain people being stuck in certain roles, needing to slowly work their way up to get any recognition, will have more to say later I think.

In other news, cool, but a little too late now Netflix! They’ll be filming the broadway play in mid february.

Anyone seen Memory of a Killer? It’s only got 4 episodes so far. Patrick Dempsey is a mafia hitman. He’s 58 or 60 years old only but is starting to develop Alzheimer’s. Michael Imperioli (Christopher from Sopranos) plays his gangster boss but you can tell they go way back as friends too.

It’s pretty interesting. The opening scene where Dempsey switches cars and had his hideout full of weapons is very Transporter or Hitman ish. My immediate thought was no one has all that by being a mafia hitman. He’s either also earning from the rackets or he’s funded by a govt agency. We shall see how it plays out though.

SPOILERS for Alien Earth

I watched all of Alien Earth just over the past couple of days. I heard really negative reception all of last year and kind of avoided it partially as a result of that, but I wound up really liking it. I liked how weird it was, I was fully locked in when Wendy starting mothering the chestburster and petting his little xeno head. I was actually shocked to find out how many people disliked Wendy in particular, with many calling her “the villain” after she released the xeno in episode 7. But like, she did nothing wrong? The people working on that island were all complicit one way or another, and after she started to escape/rebel the most likely outcome for her and Nibs would have been at best a memory wipe and personality alteration. Probably execution for Joe as well, seeing as how BK and his people had been gunning for him so hard all season. She didn’t do anything wrong by using the xeno to defend her and her people.

Episode 5 was obviously great, it was a loose remake of Alien and was completely captivating from beginning to end. Morrow is a great character, a more morally grey presence that is still humanized to a degree where you want to actively root for him despite his methods. I also thought that Kirsch was definitely a standout, though in my opinion his logic in destabilizing the facility to lure in Morrow and capture him was extremely flawed since it left everyone else (including himself) way too vulnerable. At least I think that was his motivation, he didn’t seem intent on bringing BK down even if that’s what wound up happening. If I misread that please let me know.

Anyways, I liked it a lot. 7/10, really glad that it got greenlit for a second season. I would have preferred a more satisfying and conclusive ending to the first season but I’m used to tv shows dcking you around so I won’t hold that against them too hard.

Finally getting around to watching Marvel Zombies.

Pretty cool the team was given the OK to go full gore-fest. Lots of people getting cut in half or heads exploded so far, gruesome stuff to see for an MCU property.

Still not totally a fan of the 3D Cel-shaded artstyle this is picking up from What If..
I think it’s cool they can usually recreate the actors’ faces pretty well in a “simpler” style, but when it comes to scenes in normal broad-daylight for instance, the art style doesn’t “pop” enough.
When they get a bit stylistic with lighting is when things get interesting though.

What I find hilarious and kinda sad is they have this cool Blade/Moon Knight remix of a character, and who do they base his appearance on? Mahershala Ali. And yet still, after all these years, still no Ali Blade movie.
What the heck is going on with that project, man.

A whole animation team made a miniseries using the actor’s casting before anything involving that actor ever released on-screen IRL. Oof.

Also it’s neat that David Harbour really seems to like playing Red Guardian and even enjoys (or is committed to) voice acting. There’s a scene where he gets emotional in the series that had me realize, oh wow he’s really into this.
(And he’s been in a few episodes of What If too so clearly he likes what Marvel’s paying him for)
