Unpopular opinions about Hitman

Ah, gotcha. So really you just prefer not to use tricks and exploits in your own gameplay because it feels like they cheat the spirit of ‘stealth’. That’s definitely relatable. I think lots of people, myself included, apply our own sets of arbitrary rules when attempting more aesthetically stealthy playstyles.

A key example of this for me is the times when I decide to walk in public areas rather than run. There’s no practical reason for doing this; it’s purely for my own sense of satisfaction.

In a single player game, your own sense of satisfaction should really be the only goal of playing in the first place. It’s the same reason why (except for times that the game requires it) I never wear any of the suits with ties. I just hate ties so I don’t wear them.

It would be different if something like Ghost Mode was still available and you were playing with other people, but then it ceases to be a single-player game.

I love the carpet shop song that plays in Marrakesh

How is that an unpopular opinion? That song is awesome :flushed:

I really couldn’t care less about ‘hideouts’ returning.

I’ve often seen people express the view that they would love hideouts to return. And ususally this isn’t part of some longer wishlist. They will just comment, in isolation, “I love hideouts, please bring them back”. This baffles me. Of all the things to ask for… why hideouts? They serve almost no purpose and, in my view, add very little to the overall gameplay experience.

The exception to this is H2:SA. Here the hideout is a fully realised, beautiful location which fulfills an important storytelling role. Admittedly, I am more receptive to this kind of ‘hideout’ than the others.

The Contracts hideout (or ‘Training Area’) always felt very silly to me. It looked more like something from the sci-fi genre and seemed totally disconnected from the rest of the game.

The Blood Money hideout gave me the opposite impression. Why would 47 be living in such squalor for a prolonged period of time? This is not the quality of safehouse I imagine for a wealthy, globetrotting assassin. Can’t we find some middleground between the Contracts ‘Batcave’ and this?

I think WOA does a better job of conveying 47’s livestyle. A hideout has never been something I’ve felt was missing from the triology. In fact, I prefer in-game hideouts such as the ICA safehouse in Sapienza.

Of course, this might not be an unpopular opinion at all. It could be that most people, like me, are fairly indifferent about hideouts. It may only be a vocal minority of hideout lovers who bring them up!

100% agree, i feel the same way about H2SA Hideout, its nicely integrated into the game and fits well with the story of the game.

The Contracts one is integrated into the Tutorial/Learning Section and is entirely optional.

I’ve never used the one in Blood Money and tbh the cutscene with Diana before Requiem could have taken place basically everywhere.

I wouldn’t mind to see a Hideout returning, preferably one like SAs, but i can easily do without.

I personally think the games always should feature a Money System ala Codename 47 and a Upgrade System like in BM. Oh and it would be nice to have a Modelviewer of the Items like in Codename 47, instead of the still images of the WoA.

I generally love having these kinds of hideouts/hubs in videogames, providing they fit in the game itself and its mechanics. I loved Monteriggioni in AC2 (and the Assassin dens in its sequels), the island hideout in Black Flag, the safehouses in Alpha Protocol, Mother Base in MGSV, Tony´s mansion in Scarface, etc.

That being said, the way WOA´s system works doesn´t really support the existence of a fleshed out hideout/safehouse, so I don´t miss it here. I wouldn´t mind seeing it return in the future though (and no, the fuck cabin does not count as one :unamused: ).

The H2SA hideout is indeed a great example of this in a Hitman game and I love it too. Shame it can´t be accessed at any time.

The Contracts one is basically an ICA training facility where you get to practice with the collected guns…

The BM one mainly serves the gun practicing purpose as well, though I´ve always thought of it as a place where 47 stores his gear and preps for missions, not a place where he lives (cause it is indeed squalor). I assume there was some kind of house above ground.

I feel like the “safe house” that was shown in the Legacy opening cinematic trailer is something more fitting to WoA and is kinda a middle ground between contracts’ concrete darkness and blood moneys low profile while have that touch of professionalism.

Could work as a form of menu where 47 would pick up a flight ticket to each location / mission and before that pick up weapons and tools needed for the levels.

Or the mansion in Tomb Raider

I think it could have worked in WOA, like @H_I_T_M_A_N_Statue_F said, right before the level. Would have been more fun than preparations in that menu

Hideouts aren’t too bad, they serve as a tutorial and a storytelling point, but the thing is WoA has a hideout, and it’s the ICA Facility, it might not be as you like, but it executes the same purpose

Really, the biggest reason I would want a hideout is purely for a weapon’s range. Feel like it would be nice considering the sheer amount of weaponary you unlock in Hitman 3, I just want somewhere I can freely test all of it and allows me to weigh up which items are worth taking up an inventory spot.

Mind you, it doesn’t bother me that much. And as a Payday 2 player, anyone who played that game from day 1 will get PTSD from the mention of a “hideout” with how much of a pain that was for the devs and the community.

Yeah, honestly it’s been planned as a H3 mod for a while but hasn’t been done yet, I can already imagine it though

another unpopular opinion: I’m fine with elusive targets not being permanent because that would defeat the purpose of their very existence—being elusive. it also would take some of the fun out of it if they were always there

I’m a bit mixed with that. While it does make them elusive what will happen to them when IO stops the E.Ts? I’m fine with them being what they are like now but I want them to go back into the game permanently when E.Ts end.

As much as I would like the elusive targets to be unlocked permanently whenever we get to a point where IOI is done with them, I can also understand why they might not want to. There are other games where content was created, released for a while, and then forever locked away. It’s not the end of the universe if they never fully release them. I’d be disappointed to miss all of that content but it’d be within IOI’s purview to do it.

The whole point of the Elusive Targets is that they are only available for a limited time. Once you play them, you can’t do it again. That puts tension in the mission and puts stakes in it where the other levels lack them. If you mess up Mumbai, you just restart or load a save. If you mess up an Elusive Target, you’re done and out of luck. Releasing them all would void that.

That said, at some point when the game is over and done with, I don’t see why they wouldn’t just let them into the wild and allow players to enjoy that content.

The worst thing about 7DS is knowing what we are getting since they are in a uniform style. It’s hard to speculate on a three unlocks with a escalation. It’s hard to speculate on that IMO.

I don’t like Situs inversus. I do think Hokkaido is a beautiful and stunning location with the snow-covered mountains in the background. I love winter landscapes. But I don’t really care for the mission.

I dislike stationary targets. Whenever I watch playthroughs, most people kill Soders by either throwing an explosive at the wall or going to the morgue and killing him the heart method. A lot of people don’t want to go through the hospital because it’s so tedious.

Erich Soders reminds me of the virus in Sapienza. But I feel like Sapienza makes up for it because the two targets are interesting and have good paths.

In my opinion, Yuki Yamazaki is a boring target. She’s a Yakuza lawyer who likes doing impulsive and reckless things. She’s a one dimensional character. (It seems like every iteration of Japan has to do with Yakuza. I’m also wondering why are the Yakuza guards even at the GAMA facility?)

Also, another reason why I don’t find Hokkaido very interesting is a lot of the npcs are static. Only a few npcs have good routes (Amos Dexter, Hospital Director, Jason Portman.)

Thank you, finally someone with taste! Been saying this for a long time: Soders isn’t even a real target and Yuki is boring!
Hokkaido is a great map for contracts and I really like the door-system with the different disguises. Other than that? Meh.

If any of the hitman games were ever to get a full from the ground up remake (which won’t happen). I’d much rather hitman absolution be remade so it can have it’s plot rewritten to be something better and it’s maps expanded to be more sandboxy. instead of a remake of the older games whom still play fine and have a decent non obtrusive plot.

The Procurers are the most interesting elusive targets regarding backstory so far in the WOA trilogy. These two could very well be a part of Hitman Contracts. A chef and an embalmer secretly working together to eat human corpses. That shit is fucking sick and I love it.
