WTAF is that animal one?! Who greenlit that shit?

I think it looks great, I’d greenlight that

Looks great, yes, but what it seems to imply.

We’re winners.

Ohh my god

Video game companies and their continued drive to sell you less for more (and the nebulous “feature” of early access Deluxe editions)

Indiana Jones is getting its PS5 release next month, and you get 2 days “early access” by buying the premium edition.
But they also included a legal note that its not guaranteed, absolving them of any wrongdoing or fault if you dont get that access.

(Probably because of the Suicide Squad release last year that didn’t really have an “early access” because it was broke.)

Ugh. Just sad to see, really.

They’re doing that with Doom TDA too. “up to 2-day early access*”. I think it’s dumb cus they’re punishing the players who just want the standard version. :frowning:

I really don’t understand people paying more for this though, like you really can’t wait 2 more days? I mean it’s extremely rare I even buy a game on release anyway. But what is the appeal of an extra 2 days for an extra however much it is (£5? £10?)

15? 20? 25, even??

Not to mention how redundant that extra bullet point becomes once that early period is over
game remains the same price, you get less time with it than the ones who bought it before you, blah blah

(Jim?) Stephanie Sterling had a good video on it recently. (Though I wish they’d point out more than mostly Dynasty Warriors Origins for that lately)

“digital Artbook” is even nore scummy to advertise, it’s just a fucking folder full of jpegs.

Does anyone remember when games came with a colorful manual full of artworks and flavor, and sometimes even a Poster or something?

I enjoy a good art book, flipping through the pages where the art is presented on quality paper. The entire experience, sitting comfortably on a couch and enjoying a crafted experience, is priceless.

A digital art book, I might look through once and move on and forget about it. Often the digital art is presented on subpar monitors that doesn’t do the colours justice.

Then there is the hole problematic nature of it being digital, is that you are easily able find the art online without paying for the extra cost or loss of quality.

If I buy a collector’s edition, I expect something physical.

That said the physical art book that came with H16 was lacklustre and uninspiring. It felt very slapped together. Absolution’s on the other hand is a great art book.

I’ve only ever bought one collectors edition for a game and that was GTA 5 and even then that wasn’t worth what I paid.

I am tempted by Indiana Jones but won’t be forking out for 2 day early access. If anything I’m gonna wait a few months and see if it’ll have an inevitable price drop over the summer.

The real value is in the game, not the two days early access or the cheaply painted plastic paper weights bundled in these editions.

This reminds me that I really need to get THPS3+4 Deluxe so I can get that sneak peak demo for the foundry level.

SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered is real and supposedly out now
though I don’t see it on the PlayStation store yet?

Probably my favorite of the old SaGa games. Playing characters across multiple generations felt epic and the watercolor art style is fantastic.
