Good for you! With that, you get to enjoy everything the game has offered so far.
I bought the Gold Edition last year, which excludes the three animal-themed premium operatives from the Ultimate Edition. I wasn’t interested in that particular DLC, but couldn’t resist Bloodline with Aiden and Wrench on the offer.
In fact, if I knew that the game would force any purchased DLC to be installed, I would just get the base edition with Bloodline. (FYI, the first 2 games allow you to freely install purchased DLC contents as you wish)
I don’t quite know how to use Mina the mind controller girl, nor interested in Assassin’s Creed crossover. Plus I have already owned WD1 the complete edition. Nonetheless, I still enjoy the game pretty much.
Less than a week to reach Bloodline’s release. A BTS video about Aiden and Wrench’s VAs has been released too!
Fun fact of the day: do you know Shawn Baichoo (Wrench’s VA) also appeared in WD1? He provided the voice of the tattoo guy, who met Aiden in the stadium basement at the start of the game.
This guy. The character’s name is Raul Lionzo. He was also the target of the prison mission in Chapter 1.
In other news, a little bit concerning about the DLC. It would appear that Aiden and Wrench as recruits for the main story won’t be part of the DLC, meaning they are sold as premium operatives separately. They will, however, be included in Season Pass along with Bloodline. We will know whether this is true or not very soon. https://www.reddit.com/r/watch_dogs/comments/oa6ntn/disclaimer_to_those_who_plan_on_buying_bloodline/
Both Aiden and Wrench are playable during Bloodline’s story, and with the Season Pass or an in-game purchase, they can be added to your DedSec Resistance in the main campaign or in the Online mode.
Ah well, that’s kind of a shit move from Ubisoft, isn’t it? They really want to increase their microtransaction sale on this one.
Each also comes with new abilities: Aiden can aim in slow-mo after a takedown, gets a damage buff with a well-timed reload, or disable nearby electronics with a System Crash. Wrench – in addition to an MPX SMG and LTL grenade launcher, both with custom skins – carries a big custom hammer named Lady Smash, deploys mini flashbangs called Ninja Balls, and can summon a custom drone named Sergei.
Had I not purchased Season Pass, I may think only Aiden is worth a purchase with the unique revolver and returning ‘focus’ ability. Since I have, I will still play them both in campaign to not waste the money I spent.
Yeah seems a bit weird to release it like that, but at least it provides some options to people only interested in Bloodlines, Aiden and Wrench, instead of the rest of the Season Pass stuff with bonus missions and operatives. (Unless the cost of just those 3 things is greater than the Season Pass, then that’s super scummy.)
If Wrench and Aiden are available in the in-game shop like the other Season Pass operatives, then it’s possible to grind out the Online mode for free WD Points and get them for “free”. It’ll take a long time, but it could happen…
Mask toggle sounds cool. Even though it doesn’t mean much to me, I am sure some players will be pleased!
Improved Operative Bio (Dynamic Primary Line)
The other major change within the update. It is said that over 15 additional ‘memories’ are added to the game. I am thinking about something minor like “hit 180 in darts”, but there could be some cool stuff. We will see about that.
Others are bug fixes, obviously making the meat of this update be Bloodline. But hey, that’s what’ve been waiting by fans for months, so it better not disappoint.
Yeah I guess this is some kind of launch day syndrome that happens to many games and their major updates. Hopefully you get to enjoy Bloodline soon too! I am still away from my console so I have to check out YouTube for the story, but I will get to play it in the near future.
Here’s something interesting:
The Creative Director for Watch Dogs Legion (who apparently has been CD on many other projects at Ubi over the years) has just recently left Ubisoft Toronto to work at Ubisoft Montreal instead.
Huh, it is indeed interesting. This could mean something that may impact the future of the series, as both studios have done entries on not just WD, but Sprinter Cell and Far Cry as well.
How’s everyone playing Bloodline so far? I haven’t played it, but have seen some walkthroughs on YT. The story seems to be pretty engaging, and I bet fans of both previous games are very pleased with it and returning characters too!
In case you missed it, here’s an announcement trailer for the update, which showcasing both characters’ abilities and some moments in the main campaigns as them.
So it’s like an even harder difficulty mode. Eh, not sure if I can handle that… Sounds like a lot of interesting changes though.
Navigating around the city with this mode is a lot more dangerous and riskier. Going through an active checkpoint? You’ll get noticed. Are you getting too close to an Albion soldier in the street? You’ll get noticed. Even some of the Tech Points around the world have been trapped by Albion, so grabbing them without a decent plan of escape is a dicey proposition.
Since using the public transit would also be too much of a risk for DedSec, the Underground fast travel system is disabled in this mode (BUT…)
Not only will all your operatives appear on the map now, but they will also periodically scout out missions, placing themselves close by for a convenient operative swap.
Combat is even more dynamic. All of the enemies you encounter in this mode are Elites, and they will use their advanced abilities and behaviours a lot more frequently. They’ll also call reinforcements faster, so going in guns blazing stands a much higher chance of getting into hot water.
As we worked on this mode, another feature we wanted to make sure that we brought to our console players was the much-requested addition to save game slots. Two additional save slots have been added in TU 5.5
Also ah, nearly forgot that the Assassin’s Creed Event is next month, also adding in PVP (only to Online Mode, bleh) I’m really wondering how that’ll play out. Hopefully there’s a good sale on the Season Pass or somethng.
These all sounds good on paper… well except when encountering those forced combat missions, it could be troublesome. There’s quite plenty of them throughout the story. I do hope there will be more buffs to more traits like the Fast Hacking trait mentioned in the article.
With this new checkpoint roadblock system (in normal mode, they only work when being chased by Albion) and unable to fast travel, it should provide more reasons to play through borough missions first. With them, the checkpoints will be disabled, and new skill plus recruits will be available. I feel like I will try the difficulty when it’s there.
Yeah, August will be the last month listed in the announced roadmap. It won’t take long for the rest of the planned contents to be released. And then there’s also the upcoming zombie mode which is in Alpha phrase (I wonder, do PC players still play them? ). Then there’s also the New Game Plus, announced prior to the game release, that I think was dropped during the development. They never mentioned it again.
To be honest, I think Bloodline has already done justice for this game. It brings back elements from previous games (and even from other franchise…), and its story was executed amazingly. Just maybe, the last content drop for this “Year 1” plan will finally bring everything together, thus making the game completed and content-rich.
I was interested in harder enemies, but I quickly realized, yeah, those forced combat missions were frustrating already on Hard/Permadeath.
I lost like 5 operatives on the last Skye Larsen mission, cause of all those dang elite enemies coming through the only entrance to the room that has barely any cover or environment takedowns.
I lost another 4 or so in the SIRS Server Farm mission near the end.
Nice to hear Bloodline was actually that good. I guess it’s a must-buy then to get some great Watch Dogs content.
Yes, I very much recommend Bloodline! It’s a further and deeper character development for both Aiden & Wrench. I’d say if you like and enjoy the story and Aiden in the first game, you will likely enjoy it. And if the mischievous and playful theme from WD2 is what you prefer, Wrench takes care of it in his dialogues and actions. There are some side missions that even resemble missions from San Francisco. (I hope this isn’t that much of a spoiler though )
Oh and if you also enjoy the Skye Larsen portion of the main game, I’d say you will be much impressed by her role and the mission she involves in Bloodline. It’s fascinating!
I’ve been kind of in love with this YouTube channel for the past day, they make great detail compilations.
Here’s small cool stuff about WDL.
(Some of this is really just base parts of the game – like, 'Play As Anyone" uhhh yeah everyone’s gonna know that) but some things like getting blackout drunk I never knew was possible, as well as sitting back and watching NPCs fight it out.
In this other video, there’s two details… apparently Albion checkpoints have screens that profile NPCs that walk through.
Only just noticed, but there are some discounts going on with the PlayStation version of Legion, so I will leave this info here. You can pick them up while you can. The summer sale will end on August 19th, 2021:
Standard Edition: $24 (60% off)
Ultimate Edition: $48 (60% off, including Season Pass)
Season Pass: $26 (35% to 50% off, including Bloodline, Aiden, and Wrench)
Additional discount if you have Plus membership
Not discounted: Gold Edition and Bloodline DLC
Why are there two season passes? They’re exactly the same, according to the descriptions. (and both say for PS4+PS5, it’s not a console split… Dang it, Ubisoft!
