Hmm this is strange indeed. In the East Asia version of PS store, both passes are 40% off. I clicked on them, and the only difference I can tell is the publisher. One says “UBISOFT”, the other lists “Ubisoft Entertainment”. I’d say you probably want to stick with the one that has the same publisher listed with your main game. It’s either their or Sony’s fault for this one, I’d assume.
Yeah, I’ve got both on the store and they both say “Ubisoft Entertainment”.
Gets weirder how I can only see the 35$ version on my PS4 whereas the website browser displays both the 35$ and 26$ version…
I guess it’s some strange website error.
I’ll probably buy it soon, since getting back into it later this month in time for that Assassins Creed drop would be cool. Plus, it could be an error that’ll get fixed.
Well, I got the season pass. No idea why there’s two differently priced versions, but I bought the cheaper one with no problems.
Now, to think: when I bought it, it immediately began to download Watch Dogs 1 (since its included in the pass). I wonder if I should jump back into WDL now or replay the first one before that next content drop, also to reacquaint myself with Aiden… (but the game is pretty long)
Or perhaps, you can watch cutscenes from YT to know Aiden again instead, so you don’t have to relearn a very different control scheme from the first WD. I don’t think it’s that much of a long story, but if you decide to return to it, there’s more variety of both mission objectives and side activities for you to enjoy.
Well anyway, the upcoming content drop is mostly online stuff, including AC crossover event and PvP modes, so you will only get Darcy as a pass owner. The Bloodline DLC won’t probably get any new treatment, so I’d suggest you to play it first, then play the main campaign with all 4 heroes you have after the update.
Speaking of Bloodline, I only just finished it this week. It has a decent story and brilliant interactions between returning characters. But I also enjoy the side missions quite a lot, too! It gives more chances to side characters from the main campaign to shine, like Connie Robinson. In addition, some of these missions are pretty unique in terms of gameplay.
For now though, I have started a fresh playthough of the main story, mostly playing as Mina Sidhu. I felt like giving this girl a chance and get as much value of the season pass I bought as possible. And I enjoy it so far with her ability to mind control enemies. I play the game in normal difficulty and permadeath off to enjoy cutscenes and not get too frustrated. The only complain I have thus far is the big chance of meeting characters with the same voice with her. It won’t be an issue the next time I play with Aiden and Wrench. Hopefully Darcy will get a unique voice as well.
That’s true. There’s also this video I’ve seen drifting around YouTube.
I figure it could be a good watch to get some more hidden details about Aiden’s character.
– I just really want to get to know the guy again, since I’ve seen a lot of praise and hype for Aiden, something I don’t remember seeing much when the game originally came out. Heck, I wasn’t really interested too much in him, and didn’t think his story was all that deep.
But perhaps I’m wrong.
Update 5.5 Releases on August 24th!!
New Assassin’s Creed Content (with free missions), New Legion of The Dead game mode, free release for PC and Consoles
Free missions?? Don’t they know what players really want is escalations
Interesting! I wonder what will “World Missions” be like. Perhaps something like completing mission objectives and hit global milestones to unlock special rewards? Also, although I don’t play games from AC series, but it would be interesting to know if there’s a WD crossover event as well. I knew there were some WD references from Black Flag and Origin.
Would be nice, but I think this is just staying in WD for now.
I found a post a while ago, either in twitter or the blog post, where the Ubi team clarified that this content isn’t canon to the Assassin’s Creed series. I think having each thing crossover into the other would probably muddle that claim a bit.
And they didn’t say it, but this could still be canon to the WD timeline instead.
The Bloodline DLC is pretty cool so far, I’m only few missions in right now. Just unlocked the upgrades menu for Aiden and some side missions.
Is there any new clothes in Bloodline? One of the fun things about the first game was how many different styles of Coats you could unlock for Aiden, many with different designs, but all I’ve seen so far is the same clothing shops with the same clothing options, and very few fit Aiden’s style.
The idea of an American in London is a great angle to set the plot in.
And in the loading screen for the DLC, you’ve got Aiden, Wrench, some new lady and Skye Larson. Nothing about the Rempart CEO… and he’s kind of the main villain right now… hmmm (and there’s a surprising lack of rampart in the main game… double hmmm)
Unfortunately, there isn’t any new clothes added as far as I remember. Good news is the in-game money you earn via main and side missions can only buy Aiden and Wrench some new threads. You will have plenty of ETO when completing all missions, so you can spend them all on those two guys’ clothes.
In the main game, though, I heard that you can recreate Aiden’s original style in WD1 with some clothing items. One of them is Helen Dashwood’s sweater. Other than that, I think there are some premium outfits for both Aiden and Wrench, but that’s just typical Ubisoft trying to push microtransaction sells, isn’t it?
About the new lady in the loading screen, that is Connie Robinson, the owner of The Earl’s Fortune pub, which is where Dedsec hub locates. Funnily enough, she plays a more important role here than she does in the main game. She gives the first side mission to Aiden in Bloodline, then rewarding him with a non-lethal Goblin assault rifle. Rempart, on the other hand, you will know why he isn’t in the main game by continuing the Bloodline story.
Yeah, just got through that part. Plus, it seems she continues to give you side missions afterwards.
Before starting Bloodline, I checked out the main game section to unlock the characters (kinda lame you just have to talk to them, and they’re in, but it does make it easy!)
And Bagley says something like “Our friend Connie has more connections that we thought! She knows Aiden Pearce!” To which I said… “who the hell is Connie?”
There’s a section in Bloodline where you are forced to walk a lot. Can I just say that I do not like this? Games that have a run mechanic that force you to walk in certain areas (looking at you too RDR2) are so annoying!
Bloodline was a really good DLC though. It’s interesting the way they wove it in without needing to change anything about the main game.
I’d assume you’re talking about the section of Jackson getting inside Aiden’s mind to wake him up. Of course you’re free to dislike anything. It indeed doesn’t feel like any previous WD games’ gameplay. However, I am glad it exists. It very much resembles the cancelled P.T. project by Kojima, giving it a horror game vibe, sort of like the Skye Larsen’s house in the main story. Plus, it is a major story turning point of Aiden changing his mind and forgiving himself. Overall, I am just happy with what Bloodline offers, but especially the section you talked about.
Well they do change some aspects of the game in Bloodline. While the core gameplay remains, the new robot enemy type known as “Mark 1” provides some new challenges. You also gets a different progression system like the favors asked by side characters, which gives you rewards instead of collecting tech points like the main game does.
I thought the section was good, and well done, except for the forced walking part.
I think I’ve reached the halfway point of Bloodline – Aiden and Wrench properly met up now – and this time-shift in their characters is finally coming into place.
I’ve been wondering why Wrench felt so stagnant as a character in Bloodline – like 15 years had passed, he’s in his 40’s I think, and yet still acting as he did in WD2… Silly, crazy, walking meme… BUT when the pair finally met, Wrench takes off his mask to call a truce, then explains what his stake in Rempart is – they stole his company.
So that’s a nice twist! He actually made something of himself after WD2, but only to have that taken away, so he’s striking back as Wrench once again, in London, as revenge.
For Aiden, I think his character kind of being the same fits in with being the “vigilante” type – that’s essentially his job now – so I don’t have too much of a problem with that (though I still think I want to change his outfit). Also, with Jackson here, they had a little moment where Jacks asked Aiden about his past and about how he felt about Lena’s death. That was also a nice way to call back to the original and provide more depth to Aiden as a whole.
So yeah, that’s happened, I wonder when I’ll get control of Wrench?
Soon…
I like what they did with Wrench. They handled it like he sort of snapped and re-adopted the persona he’d lived in his younger days but it felt appropriate to the character.
Yeah, I like that they justified it as “he bounced back to hacking” kind of deal.
And I’m enjoying most of the memes Wrench left behind as collectible text documents. Some of them do get a chuckle out of me.
Oh yeah. There are some various tweaks on collectables. I like the new gadget in the form of a combo between spider and quadcopter. It makes collecting them a hell lot easier than the main game. Shame it stays in Bloodline.
And for the collectables themselves, it’s a little inconvenient that it doesn’t have categories like the main campaign does. But Wrench’s memes and personal stuff makes some interesting read. I especially enjoy the script for “Magical Goat Princess.” And I just can’t resist when Aiden says “Anime Pillows LLC” out loud and Jackson’s reaction!
Over to the upcoming stuff, there’s a new blog post about the AC crossover and Darcy. You can check it out here:
Once again the sci-fi horror aspect returns in the Bloodline Skye Larsen Mission! Really great mission that goes crazy with some concepts.
So (spoilers!) after Aiden gets put into a coma, and with no time to wait for him to wake, Jackson has to use some experimental Skye Larson tech to mind meld and wake him up from within… ooh yeah.
Now in this mental-scape, you have to help Aiden find 3 things to come to terms with himself. His phone, his hat, and his coat.
First off, finding his phone simple, and showcases the fact that he misses Jacks, probably regrets not being there for him.
Next, you’re sent on a deeper trip for the hat, and you come to Aiden’s regret and mourning of Lena. Very creepy, trippy sequence. Plus, it had a complete homage to Silent Hills/PT, which was VERY surprising and I VERY much loved. I never played PT before it was taken down, so this was a fun compromise in a less-creepy setting. Someone at Ubisoft was a big fan apparently LOL.
Then there’s another creepy segment with the coat, where you see Aiden’s fear and regret of the deadly side of his vigilantism. All that murder just eats away at him and he keeps replaying the events in his head. Damn.
Really cool and really surprising mission.
Considering we might be getting some full-fledged story missions for the AC crossover, I’m excited to see what new concepts and twists they bring into that - though I only have basic knowledge of how AC operates…
