What are your WoA thoughts?

So, my first topic, made on mobile, might as well be a little glitchy. I wanted to dhare my thoughts on WoA and hear yours as well. Hitman 2016 was my first Hitman game ever, and the trilogy were the only ones I’ve played.
When they announced that H2016 and H2 would cease to exist and be merged with H3, I confess i was disappointed. It made a lot of sense, however I don’t like the way they did it. It was kind of rigged, rushed and crude, as anyone can see in the constant failure of IOI to deliver their Year whatever as planned. They lost the essence of the other games. For example, I still have both games because I bought them before H3 existed. Last month I opened up Hitman 2016, and man, seeing that wall filled with weapons go down as the theme music played gave me chills all the way, just like in the old days. The thematic of each game matches perfectly their soundtrack and setting: Hitman 2016’s white-themed menu, barcodes everywhere and a somewhat eerie music made the game mysterious, the beginning of the era, made you feel like the most dangerous man on the world, but still I was a little scared of the game (I didn’t understand anything, I was dumb). And then came Hitman 2. Man, if Hitman 2016 was nostalgic, H2 is my life. My videogame life grew up with that game. The Color was Red, and the music was so chill. That’s when I realized that I was the most dangerous man on the world. I went crazy mode. Got Miami mastery 20 all challenges in that same year. It was so cool, and I miss that more light vibe and soundtrack. H3 was dark. Black, with ominous music, dark settings, Lucas Grey dying, and everything that happened. Hitman Trilogy shouldhave been the ultimate build up, but it wasn’t, however it is the one we are in. I think they should have made an option to change the menu and music to other games.
Anyway, thanks for listening to a madman’s deviations and crazy thoughts. See ya.

I’ve started the Hitman trilogy with Hitman 2016. This game was absolute “must-have”. The maps were great, and they were living. We do feel the atmosphere, especially in Paris, Sapienza, or Marrakesh.
I would love that some features present in the Alpha would also be in the released game (like human shield, suitcase, or dumbwaiter in Bangkok). But beside that, I’ve appreciated the game.

Hitman 2 leveled up the game further, with the addition of game mechanics (suitcase, blend in, new items like tasers, EMP remote, dartgun…). And the quality of the new maps is as good as the maps proposed in the first game.

I do understand why H2016 and H2 were removed when H3 became Hitman WoA. Even though H3 didn’t introduce actual new mechanics, the new maps were great, and the free addition of the Freelancer mode was awesome.

I do miss the theme music from H2016, but having all the maps under one roof allows to enjoy all the maps from H2016 to H3 with the new mechanics and items. Imagine if it was not the case, we would do quit H3 and open H2016 to enjoy Paris for example.

Hitman WoA has a different atmosphere from previous Hitman games, but WoA gathers most of the mechanics (and improves them) from the previous entries, making it as a kind of ultimate Hitman game in my opinion (even though there are still ways to improve it).

H3 did introduce some new mechanics: the camera hacking and shortcuts that remain open for subsequent runs, for example.

Yes, it would be very annoying having to close H3, open H2016, and in my case, change BlueRays.

The World Of Assassination trilogy brought HITMAN back to its roots and expanding the franchise into the modern era of gaming :+1:

HITMAN III complete and final review coming soon someday

This got me thinking:

I would absolutely love a “mechanics & item” setting for Hitman Woa.

So you could choose between 3 settings (2016,H2 & H3), and then able to play all woa maps.

Would be cool as hell to play H2/H3 maps with 2016 mechanics & items for example.

Hate it.

Hate it.

H3 didn’t bring as many good changes as H2 (foliage <3) did.

exactly. These were unnecessary and really lazy new mechanics

:person_shrugging: Whether you like them or hate them, you can’t deny they added them.

They added the keypad security panels too (I knew I forgot one yesterday). Probably you hate that too, particularly because they couldn’t be randomized due to the need for clues elsewhere in the level.

true. the only thing that’s worse than one is none, after all. I don’t hate panels.

Hitman III is my favourite of the three games. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I can see why IOI merged all the games under the one umbrella of the WOA. I guess its all essentially one story spread across three games, so the merger made sense and I suppose its easier to appeal to new players joining the franchise :slightly_smiling_face:

I never thought this topic would gather so much people in so short time, I mean, I’ve been around for 26 days and I am already a Member with a relatively crowded random topic. This was unexpected for me, this place is very interesting. This was supposed to be just a place for me to say what I think in a confused way, but now there’s a Leader commenting his point in the topic. Sorry, I talk too much, I’m just impressed.

But anyway, eventually they would have to but the Trilogy in one place, just like Mortal Kombat. H3 is a good game, just the Trilogy compilation could’ve been better.

We all come together on his forum and always have some good discussions. You even have the IOI devs on here scrolling through topics to get thoughts and ideas, so it’s pretty damn cool to be on here :slightly_smiling_face:

It got merged cause that was always the idea. IO said back in 2015 or 16 that the next game would release in three parts (hence also why H2016 was generally referred to as “Season One”). Wish I could post a link to that article/interview I read it in back then, but after all these years, I absolutely don´t remember where it was, and my previous attempts to find it have ended in vain  (if someone does know, please post it).

I don´t hate the keypads per se, I think they were a fairly logical addition (though it would´ve been nice if they retroactively added them to the H1/2 missions with keypad areas). What I do hate about them however is that on PC, you have to move manually between the keys instead of just typing it on the numerical keypad. That´s a QoL miss if I´ve ever seen one.

Yeah, I’ve seen lots of IOI and Former IOI going around. I didn’t heart your posts because I can’t. When I’m allowed to like again, I’ll do.

I love the trilogy. Considering how poor Absolution was, it was nice to see a proper return to the series which I’ve played for over two decades now.

Shame that’ll be a while before we see the old man again.

Pre-lancer patched. (Those that know, know).

Especially with 007 being a trilogy plan.

I can only just imagine what we’d see with those. The multi target kill carnage that would be! Berlin for instance!

I mean ye, that would be the icing on the cake.

But just the mechanics alone would already be amazing
