Since your The Hague map with the court, I´m in love with your design ideas
Okay, I’m going to attempt some feedback, which may or may not be justified (I also might come up with things later but here’s what I can think of at the moment):
-
I’m still not sure about 47 sending his own DNA to a Providence asset, since we have no idea what they could do with it. Perhaps they just need any DNA in the vault to receive an invite. This is a bit of a stretch, but what if Grey recovered some DNA from the failed 48 clones? It’s similar enough to take 47’s place, if someone really needs to verify. However, this adds further complication, since this means 47 won’t be able to extract his own on-site. He’ll need to smuggle the sample all the way into the vault instead.

In my opinion, resort locations are getting a bit tired, but if this is made distinct enough from Hokkaido and Haven, I don’t think I’d have a problem with it. (OH WAIT WE COULD HAVE A PROPER HOTEL MAP-) I will say that the Blue Lagoon IRL is an interesting place, the lagoon itself is made of water from a nearby geothermal plant. I would also like to see more of Iceland’s dangerous natural features, but I’m not sure if it would be realistic in terms of geography to have them all in one place (things like geysers and hot springs, glacier crevasses, collapsing ice caves, waves that can sweep you away, unstable icebergs, and unpredictable severe weather). It may also be fairly boring in terms of level design since it’s all just “outside” with no snail houses or swiss cheese to navigate through. Although underground glacier caves could be an interesting way to travel…

Okay, this is the part where I think too hard about hacking stuff that would normally be handwaved in this game. If the invitation is sent digitally, couldn’t Olivia get one by sending a fake message from the DNA Vault to the Ark Society saying someone new has been added to the Vault? This would circumvent needing to get the DNA in there in person. However, we can just say that uhhhh… the message sent to the Ark Society is encrypted, and the encryption method requires a unique DNA sequence??? (I have no idea how hacking works.)

Maybe it’s just because it’s the perfect number of targets for a map, but it really feels like this mission needs two targets. Two targets and a nontarget objective? Could end up creating the Sapienza problem again. Heck, anything involving a nontarget objective is hard to work out (the clues, the bank vault, the case file, the data core). Ambrose Island made it work by making the nontarget objective trivially easy to accomplish, but getting DNA into a vault seems like it would require more finesse… unless it is as easy as sending a sample through the mail, at which point the entire mission is rendered moot. Additionally, since I’m going with placing the Torvik target at the resort, the secondary target should be inside the DNA Vault… but what would justify them being there? So many options…
Anyways, feel free to disregard any and all of this, those are just my thoughts.
The off-world backup piece is kinda interesting. They emphasized off-world in quotation marks.
I know IO wanted to do a spaceport for Hitman 2, I wonder if they’re reusing some of those ideas.
Perhaps a DNA sample doesn’t have to be physically placed in a vault, the data just needs to make it into Ether’s off world backup. Maybe an objective along the lines of uploading data somewhere?
Like a satellite receiver, maybe.
It is funny how we did have access to something that would allow us to access Ether’s off world network - and then we blew it up so that nobody else could use it. (No way we could have known beforehand, but could you imagine the gang’s reactions?)
Diana: “The only way to access Ether’s secure network is through a satellite control unit-”
Olivia: “Like the one you just destroyed.”
Grey: “…yes, like the one we just destroyed.”
Possible mission names ranked from most to least favorite:
- Permafrost
- Double Helix
- Absolute Zero
- Frostbite
Did more research on the Blue Lagoon, turns out it’s mostly a spa, since the water has beneficial effects for skin health. It got me thinking about various spa-related eliminations that haven’t been done before:
- Give the target the Fritz Fuchs treatment and drown them during float therapy
- Alternatively, drown them in a sensory deprivation tank
- Eliminate the target using a malfunctioning tanning bed (those things are bad enough for your health already)
- Poison the target with aromatherapy
- Acupuncture gone wrong
One opportunity in the target’s hotel room I’d like to use:
- Tampering with the gas-powered fireplace
I did some research on tanning beds and it turns out that people have in fact died while using them, including one person who got third degree burns. They were taking medication for psoriasis, which made their skin more sensitive to light. Perhaps our target could be seeking treatment for a similar skin disorder, another reason for them to be at the resort. Of course, I feel like it would be disrespectful for me to turn someone’s actual cause of death into a mission story, so maybe just tampering with the tanning bed would be enough.
How it looks in my imagination right now (oh no I forgot the Viking stuff):
Alright, since this thread is becoming more imagination than speculation thanks to my ceaseless mind, I’m considering changing the topic to Wishlist.
Edit: It is done.
That might be a good idea, it’s getting pretty wish-listy in here over such a small, innocuous item.
Part of me thinks if it really were a new map unnannounced for the second half of Year 2, IO would have mentioned it, teased it or something this month.
(Another part of me thinks “IOI isn’t the best at communication, so they’ll reveal it as a surprise later!”
)
A surprise map would be epic! It would also mean we (or I) wouldn’t have the stress of waiting for something (like we currently are for Freelancer). So, I have no expectation of any new map. But I don’t see any reason why we couldn’t get one. It’s not impossible… It’s maybe even slightly likely. ![]()
Working on trying to write up what this mission might look like, not sure if I should put it in this thread or the Create a Fan-Made Story thread. Maybe both?
Possible story idea. Sounds a little less practical than just directly hacking the computer, but it could work.
That was a plot on some show… The Blacklist? I just remember it was something I watched online.
Edit: Yeah, it’s a very similar story.
I was wondering if this related to the flyer we found on Ambrose Island. It would fit what we know so far.
Just finished writing a briefing for my idea of this mission and sent it to @Covenant for review. I’ll send it here once I feel like it’s good enough.
My gut says no, based on other conversations up there. Whole Brain Emulation is different than DNA Initiative. Different projects. Even different promotional posters on the monitors. Just another one of the crazy ideas by the Architects.
But I also personally feel like the brain one is impossible whereas DNA storage on ice is already real.
Lovely ideas, I would have pictured something like Panchaea from Deus Ex Human Revolution (would fit the sisters plan for climate change actually) or another platform with Ether building a bunker or something where the elite will retrieve themselves when the world will end unless Sgail didn’t serve that purpose already(?).
