Due to it being recommended by pretty much everybody in the whole word with an honourable mention to @TheChicken I decided to get Astro Bot especially after loving Playroom so much.
It is absolutely fantastic and I say that as someone who doesn’t usually play a lot of platformers. It seems like they took what made people love Playroom so much will giving Astro and his universe a sense of style distinct from any other (and believe you me style is something I look for in a platformer) plus working with a lot of the PS5’s functionality to its advantage.
Sadly that happened to me on the first playthrough as well, in this and some other cases…
Yeah this is generally correct. Also remember that in some versions of the game the options are actually called “Good cop” - “Bad cop” - “Accuse” instead of “Truth” - “Doubt” - “Lie”, I think these are a bit more representative of what you are gonna get. When you pick “Truth”, Cole will tread lightly, so most of the time it’s no use picking this when you are talking to an obvious crook. “Doubt” will result in a bit of intimidation and with “Lie” you actually accuse them of something.
One trick I recommend is picking “Lie” whenever you’re not sure about the correct option, because you can always back down out of accusations before presenting the actual evidence, and the little exchange you will hear in between might help you understand whether you are expected to pick this option. Unfortunately, there are a few cases where you absolutely must do this because it’s not really clear that you are supposed to pick “Lie” until you actually do which results in a complete change of subject and only then can you deduce which evidence you’re supposed to present.
This game is great, but it has its share of flaws I’m afraid ![]()
I just have the Grand Master Challenge left before I have finished Astro Bot for now. I am running out of hours and steam so I am picking it up again tomorrow plus I need to farm coins for the gatcha items.
Oh yeah and the fucking Tony Hawk reference was awesome, I actually didn’t expect that if it is one.
aww thanks dude
EXCUSE ME WH–
(I only just got to “Galaxy 3” of the game)
I mean there was nothing on sale that interested me plus I actually like Astro’s Playroom so I had already thought about it but I guess it was nice to get an opinion from someone else.
Oh uh mea culpa? Sorry, I had no clue.
Damn, you take your time then again you are also playing L.A. Noire at the same time I guess.
Yeah… also Baldur’s Gate 3… also a host of other games to dabble in if the need arises. (Helldivers 2, No Mans Sky, Pistol Whip in VR, etc…)
Yes I’m a little crazy. (Probably my ADHD brain likes different stimulation) ![]()
Been playing Shadow of the Ninja - Reborn (on the Switch). Pretty tough game… But no more tough than when you learn/memorize the enemies. I haven’t beaten it yet. I usually only play 1 stage (assuming I get through it). I’ll be continuing stage 6 later when I get home. I’m still not used to the controls. I have an instinct to push jump to go up when hanging. No. That drops you. Which can be a devastating when you’re over a bottomless pit. You have a dash or dodge. But you can’t jump from it (another habit I’ve developed)… Which I guess would defeat the purpose of having the technique to spin (hold down and maybe a direction) to slow and extend your descent. Good for long gaps.
One recent level I played… I’ll call it the “fire level” - seemed quite unbalanced in that it can be crazy difficult in the beginning, but a walk in the park after that.
I had been playing it (well, the demo) with a 3rd party controller. Up until 2. Yes, 2 of the silicone button (whatever) became knackered. Now, the B button stays down, and the A button has a weird click, or seems to snap when it comes back up. I swear, controller manufacturers make
controllers just so you’ll buy another one after a few months of regular use.
Anyway, it’s a pretty fun game. Not as “exciting” as I was expecting. Heck. Shinobi III on the ol’ SEGA Genesis seemed to have more depth than this one. But it sure as heck looks beautiful.
Really? Dang, I thought with all that vast desolate wasteland in between settlements, you guys would be aching for more human contact ![]()
Yeah, (Brendan) McNamara´s reign of terror is well-known. I always wondered though how much development stuff Rockstar actually ended up doing. Would be interesting to know some details in the future.
Oh yeah I finished Astro Bot hours ago, even went back to Playroom to unlock the four bonus characters.
Well these past few days I have been feeling very masochistic and decided to finally go for beating Uncharted 1 on Crushing! By the way, what a garbage picture the PS5 took!
The only thing I can say is don’t try to go for it yourself. It’s not the fun sort of challenging, it’s the bullshit sort of challenging. Wave after wave of enemies spawning. Enemies constantly dancing around dodging shots. Enemies being giant bullet sponges. Your health being so low one or two shots will typically kill you. Enemies being accurate with their shots across the whole map. Try to hold out behind cover to recover what little health you have and they’ll throw grenades at you. Try to stay where you entered the room and shoot them from a distance, the next wave of enemies spawn in behind you. Don’t notice an enemy when you leave your cover and a millisecond later they’ll shoot you dead. And the cherry on top is you’re dealing with fairly clunky and dated feeling 17 year old movement mechanics the whole game! Uncharted 2 and 3 have aged a lot better, but I’m still not looking forward to trying to do them on Crushing.
The funniest thing is that the monsters at the end of the game, supposed to be these scary and dangerous enemies, are the easiest to deal with cause they don’t shoot at you. Also, I know the jetski segments are infamous in this game, but I still don’t find them that tough, not even on Crushing.
Last night I finally got the platinum trophy for God of War 2018 and beat that tough-as-nails-on-a-chalkboard Queen Valkyrie boss.
Ever since I finished the game sometime last year, I had gone and done most of everything the game offered, except defeating all Valkyries, clearing out the Niflheim workshop, and finishing the Musphelheim challenges. And now that’s all done, yay!! (Honestly the hardest thing in terms of time was Niflheim, since that required a lot of grinding for Mist Echoes [currency] to use to open the central chests)
Still a little neat that in this action/adventure/combat narrative game, the devs included a mini roguelike mode (Niflheim) and Arcade Challenge mode (Musphelheim) as side-activities.)
The VQ boss took so so many tries. I didn’t count but I’m sure it was close to 20. The coolest/funniest part is that the attempt that finally did it – I didn’t even need to use a Revive stone! (I learned that I needed to take my time and “wait for my turn” to attack essentially, even if it’s incredibly brief.)
Slight confession -
(Yes. I’m using a guide for this one case in LA Noire… instead of the usual “find all the clues” or “deduce the suspect’s truth/lie”, its instead “use your map to find the landmark you may or may not have found yet, to figure out the location of a cryptic poem verse.” I’m not doing that trial-and-error hunt.) .
Eurogamer seems to have used the same guides as their original articles for LA Noire, for this remaster – and used a very simple “Find and Replace” edit on every single Truth, Doubt, Lie to change it to Good Cop, Bad Cop, and Accuse (plus “this used to be…”)
This caused some unintended changes in this case because it (so far) doesn’t have any Truth/Doubt/Lie scenes, and no one proof-read that it replaced the middle of words into a frankenstein’s mess.
So far though I’m really enjoying the game and mostly doing pretty well (at least not being afraid to use hint points)
I really quite like how the game seems to be coming to a climax with the Homicide cases, as nearly every single murder seems to have a repetition of the previous, and yet you’re always finding juuuust enough evidence to convict someone new, when it’s incredibly obvious that these unrelated people can’t all be committing the exact same murders, and it’s really a serial killer - and the cops are just rushing arrests along just to look good in the papers and to please the DA’s office.
It’s also a surprisingly good look at a vintage 1940s LA so far, with real car brands, even real products Rockstar had to license out for this I guess! (GTA is known for its parodies so I’m surprised they’ve gone full historical recreation for this title)
…And also an uncomfy look at 1940s, with racism against the Japanese, black people, and lots of horribly misogynistic comments and actions from characters in this.
Notably, the Vice detective guy gets pissed in a cutscene for “being touched by a Negro” and I’m dreading that I might have to work with him later… (the notebook teases that I’ll unlock the “Vice” case desk later on…)
Real, actual, Kellogg’s Corn Flakes??
Well, after a week of playing Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, the game that I’ve built up in my head over the past six years, the game I’ve been playing toward all that time, the game that I got into the series in the first place for, finally at my finger tips in the best possible presentation it could be on a current gen console, my response after a week of playing it is… I fucking love it. I called it that I’d enjoy it despite all I’d heard about it, and I was right.
This is quite possibly the most fun I’ve had playing an Assassin’s Creed game since Black Flag, if not since Brotherhood. I love the look of the setting, I love the feel of the character movement, the combat is improved, if only slightly, from Origins. I love the story and the mystery involved with it. I really love the mercenaries system in constantly battling unique bounty hunters coming for me. The whole thing is an absolute blast.
Now, there are still some things I have issue with, to be sure. I don’t like how you have to choose your outcomes in how the story goes and the conversations you have. Some of the voice actors sound like they’re phoning it in, especially with player character, Kassandra. The parkour, as has been the case with every single game without exception, is crap, although after a certain point you don’t even need it. And back on the subject of Kassandra, the canon player character for this game should have been Alexios, with her as Deimos.
One thing I was uncertain about at first was the size of this game. Even though I knew it was coming, I was still knocked for a loop by seeing how big this game is. I knew it was going to be bigger than Origins, but Jesus Christ on a cracker, this thing is a monster! And that’s not just in map size, although it is currently the largest map in the series, but also the content. Fuck around, up to this point the biggest game I had ever played in terms of content had been Batman Arkham Knight, but this makes that look like a bug. And to think, the next game is even larger in terms of content size. This is gonna take forever, but I’m loving every moment of it.
All in all, totally worth the wait and the anticipation.
So I’ve finished Star Wars Outlaws and Space Marine 2, both quite good gamesin their own rights, i hope both will get a sequel.
I also got the Castlevania Dominus Collection, I’ve finished Dawn of Sorrow and I’m currently playing “Julius Mode”, after that I’ll probably will play something different before starting Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia
I’d like to add that Star Wars Outlaws is definitely worth the $17.99 Ubisoft+ Premium subscription. I’m not trying to advertise the service but because it gave me access to Outlaws for such a low price. I was able to play the game and enjoy it without having any type of buyers remorse.
Probably Halfway through it, but for what it’s worth it’s definitely a 7/10 game. I still stand by my point that the games too expensive for what the experience you’re getting out of it is. So it’s a wait for a sale for cautious buyers.
The TLDR: buy this if you want to have fun. this is a certified Swangtheugly fact.
