What Videogame(s) Are You Playing?

Played RDR2 on PC a couple of years after it came out, and now - being a PC gamer and so missing it back in the day - I’ve just started on playing through RDR1 for the first time. Here’s how my playthrough is going:

If it is any consolation he dies shooting himself in an outhouse in the epilogue.

He might have been an exaggerated racist stereotype but Irish gives rise to some of the games funniest moments.

Oh, my man… Wait till you meet the Mexicans in this game… (or maybe you already have?)

I’m playing Kingdom Come Deliverance (1, for the first time) received free on GOG and loaded through Heroic Game Launcher on my steam deck.

I’m totally hooked with this silly game. I like RPGs but I’m not the biggest nerd. The combat is frustrating but that’s the point. The world is beautifully realized. The options for interactivity are sometimes limiting, sometimes surprisingly im-sim-ish. The game is often very funny.

I’m digging it and look forward to playing the sequel in a few years by the time I get around to it!

I feel like that is different. You are supposed to find Irish funny and roguishly charming, you are supposed to hate Allende, De Santa, et al and even Reyes

After numerous delays due to playing Freelancer in Hitman simultaneously, I am finally entering the final stages of my first playthrough of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

All I have left to do is have a conquest battle in the region of Attica and give Sparta full military control of Athens (historically accurate) and all of Greece, and then I begin the final story missions. First the two Atlantis missions (main campaign and DLC), then the final main campaign mission to eliminate the leader of the Cult of Kosmos, then the final DLC mission of Legacy of the First Blade, and finally the “crossover” mission with Valhalla, and I’m done.

The only thing that may be left unfinished is my character’s final stat level. I’m currently at 91, approaching 92, but it goes all the way up to 99 and there will be no major missions left after these are done to get it higher. I’d have to grind side missions to get it all the way, and I don’t know if I want to spend the time doing that before moving on to Valhalla. I’ll make that decision once I’m done with all story content, maybe it’ll bring the level close enough to warrant doing the grind for a couple more weeks to truly finish before moving on. If the final story missions brings it to 95 and a half or higher, I’ll do the grind before the end. If not, I’ll do a New Game+ when the time comes to play this game again, and just let the next playthrough bring the level to the top.

You can’t conquer Lakonia or Attika, and elsewhere power will shift to the other side here and there by it’s own. Believe me, I tried

I know it doesn’t stay that way permanently, but I want to make Sparta in control of all of it just once. I’ve got every other territory except Attica. If the game prevents either side from having total control, then that’s the place to leave alone as the setting for Athens, and I can get on with the rest of the game sooner than expected.

Didn’t see your edit there. I’ve already conquered Lakonia. As for Attica, I had to stop for the night before continuing, but I was having trouble finding the battle site and leader in that region, so I’ll try lowering its level, and if nothing happens, call it good and move on.

On an unrelated but numerous note, I didn’t notice until the last second that my spell-check and autofill replaced “Lakonia” with “Latinos.” That would have been awkward.

I’ve been playing a fairly modded version of Skyrim Anniversary Edition and it’s been one of the most soothing experiences in gaming recently.

I’ve revived this fairly old game with updated visuals breathing life into this otherwise dull and flat world. Giving in more personality, places to explore, and immersion.

Down to adding conspiracy theorists to the world too.

…Not that I have any context or interest in the Assassin’s Creed RPG series, but I have heard from players that enjoyed it about how this specific “Finale” mission is a great ending/wrap-up to Odyssey – somehow, despite releasing as a random free DLC like 2 years after the game became old news and considered “retired” due to the New AC release.

I’d love to know your thoughts on it, as someone who’s into the game unlike me. (And any research I’ve found have lead to people mostly teasing newbies to return to the game and check it out, being all vague, because its a nice surprise or something.)

You really should try this game. It’s fun. It’s not the same as older AC games, but damn is it fun. Aside from a few personal nitpicks, the only thing that seems to be a universal negative is its daunting size, and yeah, even I’m at the point where I want to wind it down and move on to the next (even larger) one. But now that all content and updates for it are in place, the time is perfect to jump in for the first time.

Mmmm, yeah, no, sorry Heisenberg.

I tried Origins and while I liked some of the setting and classic AC stealth gameplay, all of the endless loot weapon pickups, the simplification of the traversal, and the massive size of the world (meaning you need to hop on a ride and b-line through the desert), just wasn’t appealing to me.

Plus the whole RPG leveling system gating you off from easily starting certain missions was a bummer.

I do hope to get to Mirage one day though, as I’ve heard it’s a very nice balance between the old parkour-stealth gameplay of the past, and the refined stealth + RPG character progression of the newer entries.

To quote the player character from Odyssey: “You’re making a mistake, but I’ll respect your decision.”

Me fully knowing AC3 is the best AC Game and if you disagree you’re just wrong and should feel bad for being wrong.

Although I liked Odyssey quite a bit (despite the fact I believe they should’ve just created a new IP with that and Origins instead of desperately clinging to the AC name), I recall the DLC being pretty ‘meh’ and the Atlantis stuff being fairly tedious. Still, it was more enjoyable than Valhalla.

I assume by this you must mean the third AC game, Brotherhood, in which case you’re correct :smirk:

I second this.

And no, I don’t think they should have made a new IP. Keeping in the AC world was the right move, it’s helped to answer some questions that were needed.

Ah yes, the one that is more fun to play as the Templar than the Assassin and also the one in which they started filling the Assassin Order with mo-rons, looking at you Achilles, though he was way dumber along with other Assassins in Rogue. Unity takes the cake for stuck-up mo-rons that are at the helm of the Assassins.
