What Videogame(s) Are You Playing?

I honestly think it’s fine. When I played RE4 remake, pretty much every bigger encounter had me feeling like I was just about to run out. And every time, like magic, my last rounds would mean my survival. Yes, it’s artificial but it works.

I’m pretty sure this is a common thing in modern games, isn’t it? I recall hearing Doom uses a similar system for its health where the last sliver is actually much larger than it seems making it look like you just survived.

Another thing worth mentioning; there’s almost no punishment for selling upgraded weapons. Again, I’m not 100% sure if there even is a cost but if there is, it’s negligible. Switch load out and experiment all you want. :slightly_smiling_face:
And don’t sleep on mercenaries. I had a ton of fun with that mode, unlocking the RPD Leon outfit.

Every single time! Or at least it felt like it.

I’ve enjoyed Resistance well enough that I’m thinking of playing the previous game(s). The protagonist can’t possibly be as bland as the one in Resistance .

Funny you should mention stairs: One big bug I had was an enemy who glitched fully inside a staircase but could still spot and shoot me. On the other hand, I was pleasantly surprised to notice that there was a dedicated takedown animation on stairs :open_mouth:.

It’s not high, I maxed out the standard shotgun as far as I could at that given point. It only cost around 10k to purchase back.

I also beat my first true nightmare boss, the damn Verdugo. I had to, they decided to change the layout of the elevator room. No longer was there a table to run circles around. So I had to fight.

I have finally beaten the final boss and got an ending. However I am still working on defeating 3 bosses -

  • Nameless King and his pet dragon (optional boss)
  • Gael (final boss in Ring City dlc)
  • Midir Dragon (optional boss in Ring City dlc)

I have utilised all 5 rebirths of configuring my stats. And currently on Level 145.
There are 2 more endings and will need to start NG+ for that.

Dark Souls 3 was developed in 2017, and playing this is still feels fresh and new after 8 years.
Hope Mr Miyazaki and his team has some plans for Dark Souls 4.

Yesterday I finished Resident Evil 4 (Remake) and the DLC Separate Ways. Like the other RE remakes, it’s enjoyable from start to finish. The third act is my favourite part of the game, when we get out of the castle and onto the island. Here the setting becomes much more classic Resident Evil. Running around (almost) abandoned facilities. The plaga enemy might my overall favourite standard enemy, there is something extra grotesque about the parasite bursting out through the neck.

Also the remake got a lot of Wesker, what is not to love. Also big plus points from me, that the Separate Ways DLC included the famous laser hallway from the Resident Evil movies. Those are my not so guilty pleasure.

Now I just want to replay RE2 and 3 with infinite ammo. Sadly I haven’t unlocked it. After that I might go for RE7 and maybe dip my toe into RE8, which did not impress me.

My favourite game is RE5, I really enjoy the setting in Africa. Playing as Chris and the whole B.S.A.A involvement. Once again the Plaga plays a vital role and so does Wesker.

I use to play it very often, completed it multiple times with a friend.

I’ve been replaying RE5 in the last week and it’s painful to see how poor the AI is when not playing with a buddy. Sheva is practically useless most of the time and eats through ammo like it’s nothing. She’s also useless for most of the boss fights.

Hey, we all have our guilty pleasures. :slightly_smiling_face:

Sadly playing solo is a struggle, I remember fighting Wesker with her. She made the fight harder.

She is a cool character, I hope to see her again.

Played Eiyuden Chronicle. The good news is that it’s every bit the Suikoden spiritual successor it’s designed to be. The bad news is that it seems like the developers have been in a coma since the 90s because it’s barely evolved since those games. The combat is still pretty basic, the story and writing are tropey at best and there are about a dozen QoL improvements they could have made but didn’t. (I didn’t realize that you could still make super laggy menus on the PS5. :grimacing:)

Still, I do enjoy recruiting a shit-ton of characters (120 this time) and watching your ancient derelict castle evolve into a sleek, bustling fortress and that part of the game doesn’t disappoint.

It’s one of those mid-at-best games that you can still have a pretty good time with if you don’t mind putting up with its bullshit. I’m glad I played it, but as far as 90s nostalgia-bait JRPGs go, Sea of Stars is better in pretty much every way.

Imagine being the pirate who gets scuttled to Friday Night being played on a loop.

Now imagine being scuttled and the last thing you do is play Baka Mitai over you ship’s loudspeakers.

I like the stealth type gameplay, it is somewhat similar to Hitman WOA, as if you mess up blowing your cover, those guards are going to harm pretty badly just like Hitman.
I remember Odyssey and Origins was mostly non stealthy fights.
But this gameplay reminded of the first few AC games.

The ancient map of Baghdad gives some Alladin and Alibaba like vibe, parkour is awesome - reminded me of Disney’s Alladin from the 90s.
The map size is somewhat small (maybe my expectations after Elden Ring).

There is a quest on Alibaba and 40 thieves.

Let’s see how the game goes.

I got accepted into the Sonic Racing Crossworlds closed network test, which lasted for a couple of days. I like kart racers but honestly don’t have that much experience with them. Played a bit of Mario Kart 8 in split screen but that game never really did much for me, despite being the gold standard of the genre, I assume.

So, positives: the game looks good, it’s colourful, it’s bright. I like the track selection, after Team Sonic Racing had a very safe track list, SRC so far already seems to have a more interesting track list. This closed test only had 6 of the confirmed 24 tracks, but of the 6, 3 are based on stages from games, while the other 3 are original. Only Ocean View, based on Seaside Hill from Sonic Heroes, which has popped up a few times over the years feels rather safe, everything else, like having a stage based on a level from Sonic Rush,

The Crossworlds mechanic is very interesting. Essentially, each race works like this: a track is selected, you race on that track for the first lap, the second lap you go through a ring that transports you to a Crossworld track, then you go back to the race circuit for the third lap. It is a fun gimmick, it does mean that a track you select doesn’t get old. Although the downside of this test was that there was only 5 Crossworlds, which meant it was possible to get repeats frequently. The final game will have 24 tracks and 15 Crossworlds, which will hopefully be enough variety.

Pretty astonishing amount of kart customisation, in addition to a pretty decent sized roster, with characters able to use any vehicle, and characters having their own stats that affect the car’s stats. Lots of car parts to pick and choose from, with a very good paint customisation system, once the full game is out and you unlock everything, I can see players spending hours giving their favourite character a ride worthy of their love.

But there are some strong negatives. It takes a while to get used to how the karts control, they can feel a bit heavy and sluggish. For some bizarre reason, the game’s default control scheme has X as acceleration, and R2 as your drift button. Thankfully, the game has an alternate control scheme that lets you swap them. I really don’t like how the boats feel, they can’t drift unlike in Transformed, and they just feel slower.

Item balance is definetly the biggest issue in the game. There are a lot of items, and the power of them goes from underwelming to outright broken. Arguably the “meta” for this game is getting a powerful item like the drill, waiting until the final stretch, then firing it at anyone in front of you and overtaking them as they get knocked to the side. And everyone is allowed to carry 2 items at a time, and even 3 if they have the mod that allows it on their car. With 12 players, the amount of spam is absurd, and at times, I was getting overstimulated by how much was happening on screen. Biggest issue the game has, the game basically has no skill ceiling, more like a skill floor.

Music is very weirdly mixed. Partly due to the kart noises and character voice lines being quite loud, the music itself just doesn’t sound right. This is a stab in the dark but I’m not sure if the intent is for the race music to sound like it’s actually coming from the circuit’s speakers itself, rather than just a normal music track? It really needs sorted. Seen a lot of people claim the OST is bad so far, but honestly, I think the mixing is the big problem.

Overall, I liked this but not super into it. Hope Sonic Team gets the time to polish the game up and listen to the feedback.

Played RDR2 on PC a couple of years after it came out, and now - being a PC gamer and so missing it back in the day - I’ve just started on playing through RDR1 for the first time. Here’s how my playthrough is going:

He might have been an exaggerated racist stereotype but Irish gives rise to some of the games funniest moments.
