How many characters you got in total?
I kinda took a break after I made my 15th person, had to get everyone new/old acquainted with each other. Need new ideas for more folks to add.
Plus I need to get into making treasures n stuff. I just wish I were faster at the Mii/art making, cause oof time flies by when I’m doing that.
Been playing a bit of Division 2 after seeing it had a cherry-blossom themed event.
I played it when it was released, but did not really engage with all the different mechanics. This time around, I’m trying to go a bit deeper and actually construct a build and find it quite enjoyable. I can see myself keeping it installed and going back to it from time to time.
I just found out this was released and it was an instant buy for me which is rare, I even bought a copy for my daughter! A big plus its on sale at moment
Man, it’s so good to be back playing a Housemarque roguelike. I freaking adored Returnal, and this is basically Returnal 2 but with a fresh new look and theme.
The gameplay plays the same, the HUD has the same structure, the progression feels similar. Jane Perry is back in this one too…
Briefly, my thoughts:
While I wish we’d have returned to Selene in a sequel, that might not have been entirely possible. I’m sure the similarities in design to Returnal are extremely intentional, perhaps the team just couldn’t figure out a proper continuation with its world and characters, so decided to make a different original story instead.
It scratches that same mysterious itch Returnal gave me so far though. I’m on board.
The way this game uses the Dualsense Controller’s impressive multi-pattern vibration motors is second-to-none for the PS5! In cutscenes, in the way your different guns and abilities shoot out, all feel unique and interesting in your hands. Huge epic alien sounds and mysterious dialogue in the opening cutscene pulses the controller like it’s being possessed. It really adds to the experience outside of the screen…
This entry has a brand new cast and a fairly large one, it seems. Returnal was about a lone astronaut’s survival on a hostile planet, while this one is about a security force sent in to investigate a colonist/mining operation for Earth’s largest corporation gone dark…
I think I like Returnal’s more isolating premise on its own, but we’ll see how this game’s narrative unfolds. At least there’ll be some good voice-acted conversations between multiple varied personalities this time.
Carcosa, the planet you’re on, has a similar set-up to Atropos from the previous game. A long-dead civilization’s remains scattered across the planet. Their technology and instruments lived on without them. The aliens’ statues look different here, but I feel evoke the same kind of theme of “agony” present in Returnal. Interesting…
I can also definitely see grapple points and circular “pads” that are probably the teleporters across the map for this game. That, and the different “chests” for random items and breakable shield-walls… man, yeah, this game is some very smart design/structure re-use. All looks new though.
The big thing about this game is the Eclipse that modifies your runs midway through.
It empowers enemies to drain your max health easier, makes power-ups give risks to take, and significantly alter the mood of the planet. What is at first a nice, bright sunny morning, becomes this dark twisted nightmare, as tentacles seem to sprout out of the ground, the clouds all converge on the eclipse like some spiral hypnosis, and the music gets really spooky.
(No Photo Mode at launch, so I can’t get hud-less pictures…!
All in all, great first 3 hours of checking this out. Died 3 times already. Seems maybe a little easier, but I have prior experience since this feels similar to Returnal… Looks like a great game I’ll get lost in once more…!
I’m continuing my Resident Evil journey after RE9. Finished the rest of RE3 remake after putting it on the shelf for a half year or more, after finishing RE4 Remake. then RE2 remake Claire + Leon before that. Then I went into the 3 and stopped.
I recently finished RE6 (mixed experience) and now I’m back into RE7. Really enjoy it, I believe I’m more then half way through the game in one days playtime.
Something I really missed from RE6, is reading files and notes. Sadly completely absent from RE6. Luckily there is plenty of stuff to read in RE7.
I always found it funny how every location / setting in the series got a dual use to explain why there are so many rooms that you wouldn’t find in a real house. Baker home, old a funeral home. Explains why they got a morgue, indicator room. Just don’t see why you have a morgue in the middle of the swamp.
Racoon Police station, an old museum. “Explains” why it’s full of riddles and puzzles. Like all museums. Apparently the Baker’s in RE7 also had a habit of filling their house with trapdoors, light puzzles. I know why it’s there, it’s gameplay. I just find it amusing.
Something that hit me as a house owner myself. I’m glad I don’t own the Baker house. It’s completely made out of wood. It’s located in a damp and wet swamp. I can’t image the damn upkeep you have to just maintain the house. The amount of time and paint you have to keep the boards from rotting and that just the main house. Then there is the guest house, the Old house, the greenhouse, the boatyard and the Testing Area.
I’m planning to buy the End of Zoe DLC, to get the full experince. Not sure about the banned footage vol 1 and 2.
I can’t remember, it’s like 10+ years ago. I remember the setting, big open area and I believe that there was some big winding staircases, maybe some flooding. I think there where standard enemies to deal with as well.
I remember running from the oddly sexualised fish lady before that.
Most likely was dealing with the part of the game where you had to stop the satellite because Rachel reappears in that moment specifically and you’re on a timer.
Not necessarily a boss but it’s the only part of the game where all that stuff is happening
I believe there was a timer, feeling a bit stressed out and getting stunned locked by enemies, plus a larger and tougher enemy as well.
I remember back then it, I had one real attempt before doing something else and it just felt extremely annoying. Which is probably why I never tried again.
Yea definitely the part of the game involving the Satellite. The game throws a lot at you in that moment specifically but i personally never had issues but granted im an RE Revelations veteran spanning across 3DS, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Switch 1, and PC.
Finally, I completed Wukong. This game has already made in my list of best games.
This game delivers an unforgettable mythological journey inspired by Journey to the West. The story is emotional and immersive, every chapter feels unique, and the cinematic climaxes are incredibly satisfying. Combat is smooth, boss fights are excellent, and transformations add both strategy and spectacle. Exploration is rewarding with hidden secrets and rich lore, while the graphics, animations, and chapter ending videos (see below) are absolutely stunning.
The only minor issues I noticed were an occasional spell menu glitch and brief background audio muting, but they were negligible compared to how amazing the overall experience was.
Looking forward from Game Science studio - maybe Wukong 2
This start of chapter 2 - headless singer won me over.
Truly a great game, a return to form after RE6. I really enjoy Jack, he’s a blast and more fun to deal with on my second playthrough, he was more scary when you didn’t really know when and where he would pop up. Marguerite is still unnerving with her lanky spider limbs and womb full insects. I don’t enjoy her and she can fuck off. I like t he B.O.W angle with E-001 aka Eveline, she is a cool concept, with her mold based abelites. Originally when RE7 was announced I feared, that she was a supernatural foe. Glad she turned out to be a B.O.W, the game keeps that part a “secret” up until later into the story.
A character I really dislike is Lucas, he’s the Jigsaw (Saw) and Joker of wallmart version. Dull, annoying. He’s the worst thing about the game.
I really enjoy the DLC, where you take control of Chris Redfield, I forgot a lot about this DLC. Especially the white mold, who immune to normal gunfire. Stumbling across the weird lanky pear formed white mold, in narrow hallways with poor visibility, I wasn’t prepared for.
I bought the End of Zoe DLC, afterwards, it’s fun. But the combat is repetitiv. But I look forward to seeing the games conclusion. I probably won’t buy the Banned Footage 1 & 2 DLC, it sounds more gimmicky and I’m unsure of how canon it is and weather or not it will truly expand the story.
After this I will begin my Journey into RE8 and then the Winter’s expansion. Hopefully I will enjoy it more this time around. I’m not a fan of the more fantastical approach to the monsters, to much folklore.
One of the 2026 games I’ve been looking most forward to, about five chapters in and not the least bit let down. In this 2.5D game you play as an A.I. that accidently gets downloaded into it’s human creator and set out on a quest to try and find a way to undo it, set in a futuristic 1980’s. Kind of remands me of Blade Runner. It’s gorgeous looking game with similar combat to Batman Arkham and well worth the $20 price tag.
I’ve been looking forward to this game, and anticipate enjoying it very much.
Some reviews from critics and common folk demonstrate disappointment, calling out the limited gameplay mechanics. I understand that and could find myself agreeing. But the overall production value, and what I hear is a solid narrative, would carry more weight for me than the repetitive combat and “hide behind boxes while the one-hit-kill sweeping light, uh, sweeps” gameplay.
Happy to hear you’re liking it. I’m going to play it when I have a big screen on which to do so, because it’s quite finely detailed for a Steam Deck play, AND it’s presented in widescreen which makes the visible area even smaller on that device.
