What Videogame(s) Are You Playing?

I’ve been meaning to get Sekiro for quite a while but have been waiting for a bit more decent sale. Hopefully the autumn or Christmas one… Never played a Souls(like) game before, but this is genuinely one I’m keen to.

Meanwhile, last week I reinstalled and jumped into Batman: Arkham Asylum to finally get it off my list (I initially installed it back in April but wasn’t really in the mood for it, so I waited for that to come). Overall really enjoying it, and as it takes place in a fairly condensed area, I even bother with the Riddler challenges (mostly because they unlock a lot of the character bios - I probably won’t be as benevolent with them in the sequels).

Additionally I also started FEAR 3. Still in the earlier stages but am enjoying it more than I expected. Maybe even more than the second one. Gunplay is decent fun and the music is pretty good. Or maybe I just really needed to play an FPS…

Lastly, reinstalled Far Cry 3 to slowly (or rather quickly) finish it. It was fun at first but got pretty stale after 16 or so hours, so I had to lay it off for a few months.

PS: There’s a lot of Forza Horizon fans here, so I was wondering, how does one purchase FH3 for PC these days (whether it’s still possible)?

Shame, as im playing arkham city rn, and the riddler trophies are actual fun puzzles in that game. Rather then explosive gelling every wall and picking them up in vents.

it’s really good, beautiful animations, great level design, pretty engrossing story, superb combat mechanics, and some of my favourite boss fights…

…but it’s also balls fuckin’ hard, man; much more so than from’s other output. the combat here is a complete inversion of their other games and it took me ages - literally years - to figure that out. definitely worth a shot though just so i can see other people suffer as i have .

No Forza love?

I like FM better but FH5 is pretty damn good. At least the engine sounds are better than the abysmal FH4 @YellowZR1

Graphics are top notch on Series X. Only other game that compares is Flight Simulator.

I don’t care about the festival, DJ, radio. I turned all that off and just increased or made sure the “car sound” was maxed. This might be the loudest game I’ve ever played. It was sensory overload at the beginning.

Ah I’d love to love the game, but it will have to wait until I am able to get myself a Series X.

But in case you want to discuss with more forum members, ElectronicCat recently bought the game and took many excellent photos. So you two should be able to have fun discussing about the game! Or when @TheChicken finally gets an Xbox, he’s pretty interested and excited about FH5 too!

Oh yeah, I heard about the sound being massively improved as well. Graphics are very photo-realistic with all the biomes and natural beauties around the in-game Mexico. Without doubts, FH5 is truly astonishing!

Motorsport series, on the other hand, is getting prepared with development of the next Forza game engine. I believe when FM8 finally arrives, it will look even better than FH5. For now though, I guess you can only go back to play FM7 to fulfill your need of sim racing. :racing_car:

Well, I’d assume you’re an enjoyer of raw engine sounds then. That’s good! I like the game overall concept too. It’s all centered around the players. Stuff like game progression, earning accolades from any sort of activities allow more freedom of choices. I personally would blast the radio as I drive my car in high speed, because to me music and soundtracks are crucial part of game experience. :notes:

Oh that´s good to know. It´s not that I´m outright planning not to do them once I play City, it´s just that considering how much bigger and more open it is compared to Asylum, I´m afraid I may not be in the mood for them as I generally hate collectibles in open world games (unless they are kept to a reasonably small number and/or are done in a convenient way that doesn´t waste my time - and also provide some incentive for me to actually bother with them). That being said, the search all vents and blow all walls approach in Asylum is far from ideal, but at least the total area is relatively small.

Haha, I´m expecting it to be, but am willing to suffer. Given that I haven´t played any of From´s previous games and am thus unfamiliar with the combat system, I might actually have a slight (very very minor) advantage then :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

With me losing my PC for a week, it gave me an excuse to dive back into Kingdom Hearts. Picking off after beating KH2, went and beat Birth by Sleep. I liked it, actually quite alot, definetly more than KH1, and honestly, if it was a bigger game, maybe even more than KH2 perhaps. I love the new additions, the command deck, command styles, shotlocks. Granted, I maybe liking this more because you can make the game’s difficulty a bit of a joke once you craft the top tier commands, that and grinding and levelling up is so easy in this game due to the bite sized nature of each character’s campaign. Story was interesting and underwelming. Leonard Nimoy and Mark Hamill were the highlights of the whole show, that I think they sortof overshadowed the main cast. I want to like Aqua more considering how great her design is but she is a pretty dull character. Terra feels like a watered down Riku. And Ventas seems to be making more and more of a rabbit hole of the whole Roxas and Sora thing going down. But yeah, enjoyed it.

I then watched the whole Re:Coded movie. I’ve no idea, when it became clear nothing relevant was going to happen until the very end very early on, but I was bored and tired I guess, and this point, I’m too deep in to pull out. Just… a waste of time. I guess at least it beats playing the actual DS game but still.

So, I’m on the other disc now, started Dream Drop Distance. That should be interesting, I just hope the drop mechanic doesn’t get too annoying. And I think all that is left after that is the 0.8 demo, then the Union Cross movie, and finally, KH3. I’ve managed to be (mostly) spoiler free on KH3 so I do feel very interested to find out what happens in that game and how all these loose threads wrap up.

But my copy of Shin Megami Tensei V arrived today, so will probably start that at least after work tonight, and Battlefield 2042 comes out next week as well, so may put down Kingdom Hearts again for a while before finally going back.

Oh it’s gets very annoying when it drops you in the middle of a boss fight and then resets the boss.

Oh yeah, I can imagine that can be annoying. Already, I get the feeling I’ll probably be running to each save point so I can do saves and drops to reset the drop meter. I also know this game tries to get you to use the virtual pet stuff as well and I can’t say I care about that much either. We’ll see what happens, but like I say, may drop the game for a bit so I can sink my teeth into SMTV.

I’m an hour and a half into SMTV. Thankfully, unlike Personas 4 and 5, SMTV doesn’t waste time and gets you into the game pretty quickly. Enjoying it, put together a team, haven’t died so far. I’m playing on standard difficulty, going to be interesting when things get tougher down the line like I’m sure it will.

Also played a couple of rounds in the updated Among Us. I haven’t managed to get a single new role yet, but they seem like fun, and it’s causing all kinds of new arguments when trying to vote people off.

Bored one day last week I downloaded KnockOut City. It’s a free game on PS+ for this month. It’s competitive dodge ball game.

I deleted it within 15 minutes. I always ignored the free PS+ games bc I figured they were free for a reason. Then I played the StarWars pilot game (first free one I ever downloaded) it was “ok” but I love Star Wars so I was happy. I figured I’d try a few more of them. 3 or 4 later I can tell you I was right to just ignore these games :joy:, but not I’m strangely intrigued and want to find another fun one.

Yeah they add only fucking trash!

Not to mention that without BS+ I would never get into hitman, smh what a shotty service :man_facepalming: .

Predator was fun for a couple seconds. I think I played as predator 2x and as a human 4x. I never tried the humans vs humans where you could magically get a friendly predator on one side. Deleted it. Hitman is obviously amazing!!! But I owned it already.

I’m not saying the service is bad. I use the online feature. Basically that’s all I ever had it for. So I can turn on COD once or twice a week for a few rounds, i never complained. But now that I’m downloading these games I’m frustrating myself :joy:. Even last years PGA was just not fun.

I’ve started my batman arkham knight playthrough, excited for this after beating both asylum and city.

No Origins? You should definitely give it a shot though I don’t recommend it right after finishing Knight. It will feel even more outdated and lackluster :stuck_out_tongue:
I actually enjoy the plot of Origins more so than I do City

origins was actually my first arkham game years ago, but recently i remembered i had all the arkham games on egs so i just started with asylum with the vague memories of what happened in origins in the back of my mind

ooh, unique opinion, why do you enjoy it more?

I feel that the plot of City is a bit all over the place because of the big number of main super villains.

In Origins it’s a bit more focused and you’re always on the mission to find Black Mask and then the Joker with main baddies sprinkled here and there as boss fights.
In City you’re focused on the cure for the first half of the game and then into finding out about Protocol 10 but always side track from the plot to stop / work with the baddies and there’s a lot of back and forth when doing so until you’re back on track with the main plot.

Though i understand yer opinion on city, I actually find city very tightly written, with the two plots: what is protocol 10 and find a cure for joker aids being masterfully intertwined and leading to some great encounters. It has its contrivances, like fries being kidnapped by penguin and the plot twist of who is really behind protocol 10 but that doesnt really matter imo.
