Oh wow, I thought it was canned. You would think that, even if it sucked, a Bruce Willis based shooter would be more widely known.
I’ve been playing Far Cry 6. I just love this series of games. Sad as it may sound, I thoroughly enjoy clearing areas, capturing bases (and checkpoints in FC6), and collecting every resource that can be found. The fact that I’ve already played about 30 hours and (after the prologue island) and I have hardly completed any of the story in the next recommended area makes me enjoy the game all the more. So much more ahead to look forward to! The side quests are brilliant, but one of them has be a complete stand-out. It’s called The Vanishing, and it’s a cross-over with Stranger Things. It was a complete surprise when the side-mission started as I had no idea it was built into the game. It’s been done so well and although it only lasted a few hours, it was such a treat to play!
I respect your taste so much, it takes a brave heart to say these things
I still have that game. Got me into System of Down when they played War? on the big screens. WE WILL FIGHT THE HEATHENS!!!
oh i never played it. it looked gash.
side note: are you looking forward to midnight fight express? story aside, it might be your bag.
yeah. like i say, it was pushed hard at the time. i think it just bombed immediately.
Totally agree! Aw man, that Stranger Things mission really was something cool!
Say what you will about Far Cry6 being typical Ubisofty Open World, or Netflix getting a random ST promo into the game, but the devs really treated that IP with respect!
There was a free weekend for FC6 when that mission came out to promote it. I grinded my way through it fast as possible to check it out (and check out the Punk murder-chicken companion). It was a really neat, free set of side-missions!
It touches upon some of the lore you’d expect from the series secret Russian bunkers, human experimentation, a dark alternate universe, freaky monsters and features really nice touches and details any ST fan would smile at.
Stranger Things title cards at the start of each mission section, and you get to freakin enter the Upside Down, and get real close to the Mind Flayer!
Definitely the coolest (and probably most expensive) game-use of that IP so far.
Sounds cool but it makes one wish even more that Netflix could devote some advertising to some of its other stuff…
I wish netflix advertised its myriad of other shows that are actually good and interesting
I’ll settle for a Marketing Department at all for now. They could even divide it into a Stranger Things Section, Miniseries of the Month Section, and Other Section if they want but they really need to do something for the rest of their library…
It’s pretty fun. Hearing Bruce Willis be an arrogant bitch while hunting the four horsemen of the apocalypse, you can’t go wrong.
That does look good, first time I’ve heard of it.
Oh hell they cloned Sleeping Dogs’ fighting system. I’m getting it.
that’s another game i need to finish.
It lulls a bit but the final two missions are the best in the game. Also, it seems MFE is using Inside’s graphics. I do enjoy me some good ol’ minimalism.
yeah. it looks great and makes it easy to read (which is super important given how busy the screen gets).
saying that, hong kong massacre goes the other way and looks spectacular. shame there isn’t much else to it.
Yeah I enjoyed it for a few hours but it became repetitive. I like what they tried to go for though, Stranglehold/Hotline Miami.
yeah, i love me some john woo. any games where i can ‘choreograph’ combat - max payne, superhot, hotline miami, sifu, my friend pedro - and i am all over it. get a little high, chuck on some tunes, and i can usually spend hours on a single area.
hkm is fun in short bursts but it blows its cookies in the first hour or so. there isn’t much else to it. as a foundation, it’s great, just wish there was some enemy variety (with carefully considered groupings to explore the mechanics), a melee option (shooting up close is awkward), and overall faster movement (it felt really slow compared to hm).
last thing: have you seen that the hkm devs are working on an fps version?
Well I may just have something you’d like. Maximum Action. You can get it on Steam. It’s seriously addictive. And yes this is the teahouse from Hard-Boiled.
that looks ace! kinda like the specialist mod/action half-life.
i don’t have a pc, sadly.
Yeah the whole bullet-ballet genre is seriously lacking these days.
