Why do the most vivid, OMG-I wish-I-was-drawing-this-right-now flashes of artistic brilliance always happen to me whenever I literally canāt do that, or want to get out of something else? ![]()
Anyway I hope I can keep this flame āa burninā for later,
All wired up for a sleep study right now, I tell you this is fucked, I had to fall asleep twice to get enough sleep to qualify and I canāt go back for a third round so here O am with the fucking measuring device strapped to me for the next three hours.
Sounds interesting⦠Good luck
Sweet dreams! ![]()
Thatās kinda funny. Where I work, they sometimes ask for volunteers to test new breathalyzers for state troopers, so they get volunteers to drink certain levels of alcohol in order to calibrate them. Bet youād prefer to sign up for such a study, huh?
I donāt drink. But the other hand they wonāt shove a capulla up my nose or wonāt make me look like a suicide bomber doing that.
Got my car back from the repair shop two weeks sooner than expected! ![]()
Gonna clear out space in my garage to store it and hopefully thatāll be enough to keep car jackers from trying to steal it again.
In addition to the boiler, now the fridge freezer that came with the house has decided to die too. Just, argh. I just want things to work damn it.
Iāve often wondered: does it even count as technology if it doesnāt make things easier for you?
Hoping you can get those fixed, I feel your pain.
It was a couple years ago pre-pandemic, but our stove, oven+microwave combo, all decided to die pretty close to each other⦠so we had to get em all replaced.
It happened just over 10 years after weād moved into this house, so I guess they had the same shelf life or something ![]()
Considering the age of the fridge freezer, will probably just replace it entirely. Donāt need an expensive big one or anything. But will probably take a little while to get it organised.
Pretty tired from being up all night taking care of my dog, who had been vomiting again. Either gave her too many treats or she ate some crumbs from my super hot chicken wings. Seems to be calming down and sheās been able to have a small bit of bland food and sheās finally napping now. Hate when this happens to her. Worse than a sick child, because they can at least tell you how bad they feel and what they did that might have lead to it. With pets, you just kind of have to hope.
Well, back in the emergency vet office. The vomiting passed as it normally does, but then she started breathing quick and sharp for a couple of days, becoming lethargic, and then this morning she showed no interest in eating. That has never happened with her before. The nurses say her vitals are good, but her behavior is all wrong, very dumpy right now. Weāre hoping itās just that she has a blockage keeping her from pooping because of the food we had to put her on to recover from the vomiting, and that they can relieve her of that. If not, then itās probably something more serious, and that makes it a big question mark. Hopefully will know in a few hours.
Not looking good. Sheās possibly got an infection in her spleen, but more likely sheās got anemia from some auto-immune condition, or cancer in her spleen. Both are manageable, but if itās the former weāll probably have to have her spleen taken out and that will take years off her life, and if itās the latter, weāre probably gonna have to make arrangements to put her down in the near future. It can be managed either way, but it is likely that our time with her is gonna be shortened significantly. Hard times ahead.
Sorry to hear that. Itās never easy. Sending hugs
your way.
Well, some news. Poor Peach is going under for surgery to remove her spleen, which seems like it may have or be about to burst, and possibly even twisted on itself. The doctors have not been able to confirm from any X-rays, ultrasound or blood samples on what the cause is, so itās possible that weāre still dealing with a cancer that has left her spleen and gone on to her lymph nodes, in which case thereās no hope; there could still be an infection that weāll have to figure out after the surgery, and maybe it can be managed or not, but at least with that or the cancer option we can still bring her home and make arrangements for a few more days before saying goodbye to her; or, it could be that itās just the spleen itself and itās time has come, and removing it will set everything right, or as right as can be.
And all of that is assuming she survives the surgery, but sheās already fasted due to not being able to eat for the last day, and we already were informed of the care that goes into observation of dogs during surgery at this facility, including problematic dogs like bulldogs, when our dear Peggy got sick, and weāre confident that if these people canāt do it, then she never had a chance anyway. We said our goodbyes to her last night just in case she didnāt make it through the night, and sheās so miserable weāre not sure she recognized us, but this is all we can do, and it at least has a better shot than what happened to Peggy. If she doesnāt make it through, we at least fought for her. If she does, there might still be hope. Fingers crossed. ![]()
Today was a hard day at work. As some of you might know, I work at one of the biggest news corporation in Switzerland. Iām editor in chief for the online and radio departement for eastern Switzerland. When I walked into the office this morning I learned weāve had a ransomware attack on our company during the night. So no starting up any computers until thatās resolved. I had to organise a lot to ensure that we are still operational. Fortunately a lot of our services are web based, so the whole online crew had to work from home ā that at least worked. As for the radio part it wasnāt that easy. We had to relocate to different studios, had to improvise with the music and the news. Happy to say: Everything worked fine, almost no hiccups. Planned everything for the weekend, everything prepared for monday. Really happy that everyone at the office was pretty chilled about it and it seems weāll be working just fine during this time.
Iām having a baby girl. Iām very excited.
Awesome! Congratulation!
