I love that we’ll be able to mix and match the assassins we can play with. With co-op also now being in Freelancer I wonder what the lore explanation will be for Knight and / or Stone being in the safehouse. Maybe 47 will show a paternal side to his much younger coworkers and adopt them
I wonder if by allowing people to mix and match who they’re playing as, it means we’ll also be allowed to play single player as Stone or Knight instead of 47. That would require a ton of new voice lines in the main missions, but in Freelancer all there would need to be is just a few lines for talking to suppliers and a few new Diana lines.
Also I’m surprised by the split screen multiplayer. Maybe it’s something just for testing, or maybe there will be an option for local co-op on the same platform
Freelancer co-op is going to be ass unless you’re playing with someone you actually know tbh (assuming there is matchmaking).
A random player you’re assigned to isn’t likely going to stick around around to play through a full campaign. Also, what happens if a player’s connection drops out for 30 seconds? Does the entire campaign just disappear and you have to start again?
I hope it’s free and just supplemented with more cosmetics or something like Freelancer was.
Not because I wouldn’t be willing to pay, but because getting friends/others to pay this long after release is a hard sell.
Then there’s the whole possibility of cross platform play, but I imagine they’re just going to continue not to bother even though IOI Account linking exist.
I honestly think paid co-op would be dead on arrival. A free update and some proper marketing would be a major hit, especially if IOI sponsored some streamers to chaos co-op campaign together. Imagine one player setting up a stealthy kill while another player alerts every guard on the whole map.
It has so much potential and I’m desperate for them to not screw it up. My ideal scenario would be “friends can play with you for free without owning the game” but even just playing with friendly random people would scratch an itch for me.
Split-screen Co-op makes more sense to me than online, considering how bad the servers are. I can imagine constant disconnects when trying to play online.
Also if there are unlocks for playing Co-op and someone doesn’t have anyone to play with, they could just connect a second controller and make them stand out of the way, then just play the game normally to get the unlocks.
I honestly don’t know why people complain about servers.
Till this moment I was lucky to play seamlessly in two countries ever since HITMAN 2016.
Of course disconnections occur every now and then but not often than once-twice per week, sometimes per several months.
I would suggest to inspect the connection and line with the ISP if you have lots of disconnections
my question is: do we get access to the suits we unlocked or is it just a default suit for knight and stone every time (one as santa and the other as an elf would be pretty funny)
I guess there is nothing confirming here that Co-Op is associated with Freelancer is there? Just because we see objectives listed very similar to Freelancer’s layout, I thought Co-Op is operating as its separate entity from the main campaign and Freelancer? Someone correct me if I’m wrong?
Like I’ve put above, just because Co-Op has Freelancer like objectives, how do we know it’s definitely Freelancer mode? Co-Op could have very similar objectives. Also, if it is Freelancer, in terms of lore, given that Freelancer is themed to be set around post Hitman III, I can only assume that Diana has recruited Knight and Stone as part of her own murder-for-hire Freelance organisation after the destruction of the ICA, given Knight and Stone were hand picked originally by Diana for ICA agents.
