Will co-op be anything more than one player taking on Novikov and the other Dalia?
It’s very difficult for me to see the point, but of course I’ve been playing this franchise since the very beginning so even Ghost Mode was a big step (which I never really enjoyed but I did want me that Phantom Suit, which later became available in another way).
Stone and Knight: meh. Opportunity missed to have players create their own character.
The servers are fine? Like, It is rare for me to get disconnections, and the few times I do get booted off, it’s the fault of my ISP or my router, not IOI’s servers. My main issue with the game being always-online is that it’s precisely that; always online at the expense of a crap offline mode. To IO’s credit, the servers are stable, in Europe at least.
When Ghost Mode was active in Hitman 2, I don’t think I ever got disconnected; most of the disconnects that I did get were from people leaving, not due to server instability.
Solemn request to IOI: please don’t attach any inventory or suit unlocks to this co-op mode. I don’t have any friends who play Hitman and I do not feel like being forced to buy a headset just to coordinate with another online player.
Like I’ve mentioned in the thread above, do we know for definite it’s definitely Co-Op in Freelancer? It might be just be Co-Op with objectives that are similarly based to Freelancer layout? I don’t know for definite, just something I’m throwing in there as a possibility as I get what you’re saying with people potentially dropping out before the campaign is even finished.
I’m not too exited about coop since I’ll probably never be able to play it because I’m not getting a PS plus membership just for this. If I ever get a decent PC and cross platform save transfer becomes a thing I’ll try it out.
I just hope there won’t be any coop exclusive unlocks.
Quite sure the current system is very lenient with ping or response time. So rare “disconnected” notifications are not a good metric to estimate if the server is good for coop.
But I would not be too concerned either, I remember Ghost Mode was okayish in that regard and it is no obscure knowledge to make a multiplayer game with good servers. They will manage I think.
I hope there are unlocks for multiplayer mode. I like unlocks and I would like to get them for multiplayer, but I get that people would be annoyed so I think I would rather there be a bunch of multiplayer-exclusive unlocks. Like different suits for knight and stone, maybe different agents you can unlock (Agent Smith, Lucas Grey, maybe even some crazy ones like Diana, The Constant, a Max Valliant clone, a Kronstadt PALLAS Android, etc.), multiplayer only items (idk what they would be for co-op, but ghost mode had some), whatever
Unlocks are fine, but let’s make them achievements from completing challenges, not grinding levels. Between Freelancer, Sniper Mode, and the screwdriver being unlocked from completing a set number in Contracts mode, I’ve had my fill of grinds for the rest of my life. It doesn’t make me feel accomplished, it makes me feel like saying fuck you to the game for making me do this, and I know I’m not alone in that sentiment.
I wouldn’t mind levels as long as it’s like 20 levels and they’re all achievable with the XP you get from the challenges, like the main game. Grinding out for the sniper in Siberia was so so terrible and I still haven’t got Freelancer level 100 yet
