I’m looking forward for more news about this cause my dad loves hitman and I’m looking forward to play with him or anyone out there
A subscription was required to play Ghost Mode and coop Sniper Assassin back on Hitman 2, so my guess is yes, you will have to buy one.
Yeah, I’m like 99% certain that’s going to be the case, thought I’d ask because Google AI was giving me different answers… although I’m also 99% certain Google AI is full of shit.
Guess I won’t be playing Co-op for the same reason I never played those previous modes.
I’m not a hardcore gamer so being forced to buy a playstation plus subscription just to play an online “side” mode in a game that should really be single player is annoying to me.
I know it’s not a fortune -£59.99 PA for the essential version of PS+, but it’s more to do with the principle.
And that’s before I also have to sign up for all these other apps like Twitch, TiK Tok etc. if I want to unlock a few cosmetics for FOMO.
That sucks I hope they don’t do that to anyone cause it might fear of them missing out
Precisely. Very little has been announced so far about WoA co-op. We can only speculate for now.
All Google AI is capable of is scraping the internet for information and regurgitating that info. Even when details are known, it very often gets things wrong and even fabricates false information.
In this case, the necessary announcements haven’t yet been made, so there’s no solid info to report. All Google AI can do is provide the appearance of a guess based on reasoning lifted from the internet.
This seems to be yet another example of AI failing to draw the obvious conclusion - that a PS+ subscription is likely required - and instead confidently giving an answer likely to be wrong.
Surely this isn’t even IO’s choice, right? You probably can’t publish any multiplayer stuff on PlayStation without it needing PS+ or being f2p
We don’t know we have to see what happens
Technically Hitman’s free starter pack makes it f2p
To be honest, I love everything about WoA and I welcome every DLC with open arms, but I don’t like the co-op mode. Not this one, and not done this way. I loved playing Ghost with a friend, and we also spent a huge amount of time in the Sniper Assassin co-op - even though both of us felt sick at the sight of Knight & Stone. Still, that mode itself was great.
Adding a co-op mode to WoA now feels a bit too late and pointless. Most people have already played the game to death, and most die-hard fans are at least somewhat burned out after hundreds, if not thousands, of hours. I assume everyone wants new content - new missions, new locations - not yet another recycling of something everyone knows inside out.
Instead of inventing more ways to grind the same thing, they could invest resources into creating genuinely new content.
I would much rather see a major improvement to Freelancer, with new possibilities, options, and features, than another game mode that won’t mask how stale the game has become. In my opinion, this is forced content that people will play around with for a short while, and then the monotony of replaying the same maps will hit back with doubled force.
At the moment I’m at Prestige Level 6 in Freelancer, with over 900 hours in H3 (epic + steam), over 687 in H2, and over 676 in H1 - which gives me well over 2,200 hours spent in the same mechanics and locations. I don’t have maybe 3-4 achivements from Freelancer, and this is only thing makes me play still. But I’m at place where I’m staring to be burned and bored with the game.
And on top of that, the genetically bland and boring-as-hell Knight & Stone… bleh. I don’t want to see, hear and play with that duo. At least they give some paid DLC where I could use 47/Grey model or Kane and Lynch instead.
Contracts, beside Featured untill hit all unlocks and achivements wasn’t what made me play, Escalation was fun for some time, Elusives start become boring, Sniper Assassin was quite short and nothing to do besides that, arcades was also fun until some point. Then they add Freelancers which was a game-changer and bull’s-eye for the game. Then VR but not for everyone and now forced coop which no one I guess cares afer so many years. It would be released just before premier IT would be fine. But now it’s too late.
My friend don’t play Hitman anymore and I don’t imagine to play with random people in coop - that for sure will suck, like ghost sucked with randoms.
BRING NEW MISSIONS AND LOCATIONS this what seems everyone want!
I can hook you up on co op man what platform do you play
While I personally am excited to see how Co-Op will be, and I am looking forward to the mode, I can understand people being wary and understand your frustration. I never played Ghost Mode myself so maybe I’m more optimistic than I should be.
Now, your comment about New Missions and Locations - YES! While I imagine it’s too late for IOI to make more maps, I’d love at least one last “hoorah" for a new map.
I specifically have advocated for a new medium to large, mostly outdoors snow map due to all the snow/winter related items we’ve had in the game, with no snow maps other than Hokkaido… which is mostly indoors, and isn’t really what I mean when I say “snow map".
To keep this from becoming a Wishlist and to keep the comment on topic of the thread (co-op), I think a snow map can be beneficial to both single player, Freelancer and even the co-op mode if it’s designed/planned out properly.
Maybe a silver lining for the people wary of the co-op mode and not interested in it, a new snow map being made with both co-op and single player in mind can be a good excuse to compromise between fans of single player and co-op. I’d say all fans plus IOI themselves win in that instance.
To me a new map and a co-op mode are two different sentences. I want a new map, everybody does, i think Ambrose even if you dont like it had a good idea of essentially trying to slot new missions into the campaign. I could see them making maps in a pre-bangkok timeline, pre-dubai maps with grey, maybe an olivia map between berlin and chongqing. My mind is racing with the possibilities. We have the Ether centre in johanessberg, we have an airport map, i always think a lumber town in Canada would be an amazing setting, we even have sniper maps to reuse assets from
But a co-op mode doesnt take the same resources, surely. Sure time is an economy in itself, but someone making Hitman run with two people isnt the same person who has to draw level maps up on plotter paper
My worry with co-op is two things:
A) i hope exclusive content isnt made for it, if the campaign is all newly-made bonus missions of the main game i hope singleplayer versions of them exist too. Even if they lack briefings and bells and whistles, i’d like it if they just existed to play and enjoy. No exclusive unlocks either! Except if you can unlock suits for Knight/Stone, those would have incompatibilities
B) that it will just be co-op in freelancer. I think co-op should be like VR mode, where it’s a mode but not like a traditional game mode in this game. Where instead of going into game modes you instead just activate it from the main menu and you’re in co-op mode and can play as much as you can in VR as you can in co-op: at the very least campaign as well as freelancer. I love freelancer, but the campaign and its targets just have more potential for comedy and coordination than a randomly generated roguelike mode
Being honest, even while wishing IOI all the best, I actually hope that 007 turns out to be a financial disappointment - not enough to cause losses for IOI, but enough to make them realize they need to return to Hitman as soon as possible. ![]()
If 007 turns out to be a disappointment of any sort, after all the time and investment they put into it, it could affect the future of Hitman too. They know they have to return to Hitman, and once 007 is out there, they need to turn to their next thing. Hitman will come, but we want them to succeed so that future games can be guaranteed and - while this one is a stretch - they can be so successful that they don’t need to rely on some of the questionable content decisions they’ve made over the last few years for the sake of making more money.
Of course I want 007 to be a success - as I support IOI from the begging, but not so big that IOI spends the next several years releasing content for this game at the expense of Hitman. Ideally, it should also turn out well enough for them to be satisfied with the time and effort invested, but not to the point where they focus exclusively on 007 because it’s worth time more than Hitman.
Very doubtful it’ll get to that point. For one, Hitman had a unique feel in the stealth/espionage/murder-simulator genres of gaming, and people will have a craving for it again. For two, they are only licensed to do 007 games for a limited time, at least for now, so they can only plan so far into the future with the Bond franchise, whereas Hitman is exclusively theirs and they can carry it forward for as long as the company exists.
I agree with your points, especially A). I would be perfectly happy with two 47s running around and the story doesn’t need to justify it at all (“don’t think about it”).
I think about co-op in the context of “breadth vs. depth”. Breadth is how many levels there are, and while a new one would be great (Ambrose was excellent) it’s not needed. Depth is how much you can do with those levels, and adding co-op adds an entire level of depth to every single level. Freelancer did the same thing. Co-op freelancer would be an extra level of depth on top of that.
I would like to see the return of ghost mode too, but in a freelancer style. Random target that already exists on the map (instead of a new one being created exclusively for ghost mode), a new target is revealed when the previous one is killed, and you get increasing conditions on those kills (outfit and/or weapon requirements). More than 2 players as well, get some in-engine Hitman Roulette going on.
And then add co-op to it. Co-op versus. Imagine the possibilities.
Clone. Justification.
Or like 47 and 17 that would be cool
Have it so Player 2’s always smiling so he’s an extra 48 lying around
