I’m thinking if Knight and Stone are tied to Freelancer, I think it’s easily to tie together that Diana would have recruited both Knight and Stone as part of her Freelance organisation as she handpicked them both originally to be part of The Shadows hit team once the ICA was exposed.
Is it safe to say they scrapped co-op? I sure hope so. I think most players would rather have updates and improvements to freelancer. Hitman isn’t meant to be a multiplayer game. Remember Ghost mode? That was awful so they scrapped it.
I agree, but the initial co-op announcement gained a lot of traction on social media and I would imagine it’s something a majority of the casual playerbase is looking forward to. I only worry that there won’t be Steam / Epic crossplay, all my friends are casual players and only got the game when it hit Steam
And who’s to say that co-op won’t bring improvements to freelancer? There certainly would have to be some adjustments to it when co-op comes out
no he forgot to put bait on there
i still wonder if co-op will have splitscreen or not
I hope they talk more about this considering this mode has been very silent since this got announced back in June 2025 at the ioi showcase
Update from the newest stream: It’ll be out when it’s out, and we like that
Good and very good indeed
Surprised this wasn’t posted.
During the stream, Arti said “Sorry to say we won’t have any news for co-op in the near future. But if we have something, you will be the first ones to know. You will be the first ones to know about the beta test and anything coming your way”.
“the beta test”

So we got some accidental new information after all. ![]()
Don’t put your fortune on it though
Co-op comes out tomorrow btw
I’ve been thinking more of this and around the below image…..
As 47 has been seen alongside Stone in the play tests during that live stream, but this mode is specifically themed around Knight and Stone, I wonder if 47 is just a place holder?
Stone and 47 are essentially interchangeable since they both can wear male disguises. Allowing the host to play as either Stone or 47 wouldn’t be a bad thing for giving you a chance to sport your favourite suits. There are lingering gameplay mechanic questions:
- Will Knight only be able to take female disguises? If so, will NPCs be revamped on levels to have a gender split to ensure Stone/47 doesn’t end up being wildly more powerful than playing as Knight?
- What happens if one of the players dies? can they be revived? Is the remaining player left to try and complete the level successfully? Does the mission still fail for the dead player?
- If one player causes a shootout, does the other player remain unaffected if they haven’t otherwise done anything to attract the ire of the guards?
- Are the safehouse weapons shared or separate? if a player acquires a weapon (either through purchase or for free) does the other player get it? If separate, can players drop weapons to gift them to the other player? How does that work for DLC weapons?
- Are objectives shared or separate? If separate, is this still the case for the PO when playing Hardcore? Can you even play Hardcore in MP?
- Does MP use a separate safehouse or does the state of your single-player safehouse get reused? In fact, does it use a safehouse at all?
- Is Friendly Fire a thing? What about explosives, tasers etc? Will there be a system for blocking trolls/griefers?
- Will MP be menu-driven or will there be a seamless in-safehouse experience for inviting someone in?
There probably won’t be any authoritative answers to most or any of these questions for a while, but I figure I’d bring them up since it might spark some discussion and IOI might even take note.
Has Co-Op even been confirmed for Freelancer, or is it still just speculation given the in-mission objectives seen during the play tests look similar to Freelancer?
Arti used the word “prototype” in the last stream when referring to the footage. So I think people should adjust expectations - since it may have been nothing more than a proof of concept in regards to Freelancer.
You know, that’s a good point, perhaps I’m getting ahead of myself - I’m really assuming that based on the objective icons I saw.
With that said, I can’t imagine them doing anything other than something like Freelancer because MP, like the storyline, will get pretty tired pretty quickly if all you can do is play out the same narratives with the same targets.
It might be themed similar to Freelancer in terms of in-game objectives etc, but Knight and Stone might have their own dedicated game-mode, which runs totally separate from any other mode ![]()
To be fair, it makes more sense for them to have their own game mode because it would be kind of strange to have Knight and Stone walking around the Freelancer Safehouse when that was themed and centred around 47.
Bit late to this, but it is worth mentioning that the data HITMAN Status displays (aside from downtime reports, which are user submitted) is directly from IOI’s servers (when it comes to load, maintenance, ETs, etc) or is measured by pinging them. The events tab is a (limited) historical overview of this data.
I always suspected this, but thanks for confirming this!
Given what Arti said on stream, I’d bet maybe placeholder?
Everything we’ve seen of co-op “in action” on their social medias or that one IOI group-watching it being played – so far has just been prototyping. Testing to see if 2 players can work, how it can work, a lot of crashes involved for now, but it’s still early days.
So I’d guess we won’t be seeing any actual co-op look until later in the year at least.
