AMBROSE ISLAND, Andaman Sea (Mission #7) - Location Discussion

lol yeah, i figured out this was the case, the requirements for level 20 seemed way too tight this time around compared to every other location.

You must have beaten me by seconds!

So does the mandatory exit in Colorado.

Now I actually have to ā€œsuit onlyā€ this thing… I hate that! Oh well, any excuse to play the game I suppose…

So are the people are on this forum that prefer a roleplay experience. Basically anything outside casual players that play through the game once, are minorities, and i doubt the casual players mind or are even fully aware of its potential.

This is why whenever I discuss my own personal preference as to play styles (Suit only, silent assassin, sniper, trick shots, glitches, all of it) I try to make it obvious I’m talking about my personal opinion. Everyone gets their own enjoyment out of this game and it’s great. I’ll never be a speed runner, but I love that some players can be. I love that I can play the game completely differently that someone else might and we can both love the same game. As much as I complain about bullet tricks and weapon lures, I don’t want IOI to remove those from the game. I don’t mind having some items in the game that are overpowered from certain perspectives. Tournaments organizers can simply ban their use and single players can decide for themselves. Everyone can win.

Agreed, what i tried to point out in my post was that ā€œspeedrunners are in the minorityā€ isn’t really an good argument, for the reason i mentioned.

Do you run the original Games too, or only the new ones?

I am well aware of this, and I never stated otherwise. My arguement was not made on the account of role-players.

Just before everyone loses their minds here, falling head over heals over the obvious, nuanced take: I’m not saying that anyone should play any specific way.

I’m talking about that big presumably +90% chunk of casual Hitman players… The ones that would never come here. The ones IO are basing many of their design choices on via player data. From what I’ve seen from friends and streams, the majority will play the game neither speedrunning nor role playing. They just have fun with it in their tempo.

But it is my hypothesis, again, from seeing friends and streamers, that those players will gravitate towards the easier option, if one is available to them. So if you give them kills like these on a silver-platter, it kind of undermines the foundational challenge of figuring out a Hitman level.

I’m not up in arms about this or anything, you guys can have all the OP items you want. I like seeing the creativity from speedrunners, but I do get why IO have been historically been reining in things like these. There is an argument to be made that a lot of casual players will never discover these methods though, and that is worth thinking about. I still think they fundamentally undermine the balance of the gameplay.

Well, this mission probably has one of my favorite non-gimmick sniper kills.

Just did SA/SO/Sniper Assassin by sniping Noel Crest from the radio tower while he’s vomiting into the water.

  • Cool vantage point.
  • Long shot.
  • Hidden body.

My sniper kill on Akka wasn’t as cool, since I had to run to her body and hide her afterwards, but it is what it is…

Anyone know of a good way to snipe Akka that makes sure her body isn’t found afterwards?

Snipe her when she just got up the stairs towards her office, and when she just passed around the corner.

It was a non-argument to begin with.

These players go on killing rampages for the most part. Figuring out how a hitman level exactly works isnt something they are too interested in. The molotov wouldnt make much of a difference here.

Won’t her guards come looking for her? I sniped her while she was out on her balcony, and they found her there eventually.

I’ve seen a lot of players on Reddit and YouTube just opting for the emetic briefcase on ET’s. That does fuck with the gameplay balance imo. The cool thing about the WoA-trilogy was that no target was ever just too easy to get to. Used to be just follow the target route, and take them out when they’re alone in a room fiber-wireable. Now there’s always a puzzle, and that’s better. If they want a good game, from a gameplay perspective, they should care about that.

Molotov… who knows. Wallbang is fun, and I don’t mind it being there, but IO have historically been against it, so I wouldn’t be too surprised if it’s patched out.

No, her guard is an escorting guard, meaning he will always keep his distance. If you shoot her at the above mentioned time window, her guard will stop in his tracks, and stand there forever

Cool. I’ll make note of it for a future run. I’d hoped that there would be some kind of ā€œshoot into hidden statusā€ -shot, but there probably isn’t. Thanks.

Ive seen tons of streamers going on rampages over the years. Majority does not even play ETs, big chunk of them dont even know such a thing exist.

Very debatable. Ken Morgan says hi to just name one example.

Puzzle is still there. Just because theres an easy method available, or by simply just bruteforcing it by going on a killing spree, doesnt take that away.

There might be, she has a few triggers. Good luck!

I agree with all of this. But hey, it’s nice that my post can be utilized for stating what every sensible player must agree with. Bears repeating, so it’s all good. While it’s not something that keeps me up at night, I do think it’s kind of lame, from a gameplay perspective, that I have to impose restrictions on myself and could always just go up and use the emetic briefcase on someone and get a perfect score.

It’s a better game if the gameplay is fundamentally balanced. It’s like if chess had an extra piece that guaranteed a win… but you just didn’t have to use it.

Hehe, using the aberration as a basis for your argument… nice.

I’m saying, there’s a difference between taking out the general in Invitation To A Party by following him to his room on the one hand, and taking then out Victor Novikov. The majority of the kills in WoA presents more of a puzzle, and that is a massive improvement over the old games. That is, if you opt out of using sheiker, emetic briefcase, now molotow, etc.

The game’s internal logic would be better with more balance from a pure gameplay perspective. In my opinion.
