AMBROSE ISLAND, Andaman Sea (Mission #7) - Location Discussion

I completed all the challenges and got Mastery 20 on this new map. Here is my opinion.

Personally, I enjoy playing this map. IOI did a really good job on this and offered us a great mission.

What I like:

  • The story is included within the WoA main story. This way, the mission is not independent from the whole trilogy. The mission is connected to the others.
  • The map itself. I enjoy the universe of the pirate’s island. There is a bar with the slapping contest, the old ruins, the small town, the fishers…
  • Good kills with the trap on the bridge or the electrified cage. You can also make Akka kills Crest with proper setup.
  • The non-target objective. It reminds me the Sapienza objectives with two kills and the destruction of the virus. Moreover, there are several ways to destroy the satellite. You’re not stuck to a single strategy.
  • The Grey’s exit. Nothing big, but it gives another option to exfiltrate the island with the GPS tracker.
  • I liked the presence of the student. It gives you the opportunity to get emetic or lethal poison.
  • The presence of Agent Smith and the hidden mission story attached to him.

I have also a few “complaints” (but they don’t alter my game experience):

  • No mission stories. We got 3 mission stories for the previous H3 maps. Just to be consistent with that, I’d like to get the same for this map. We could get three mission stories with Crest (poisoning food, slapping contest and motor boat). The others with Akka can remain hidden.
  • No cutscene a the end of the mission. I don’t ask something big or awesome. For example, the bank’s mission finishes with a very small cutscene that gives a small hint about the next mission. Here, we could have something like this: 47 and the others say “It’s done! Let’s move forward to Isle of Sgail”, something like New York’s end cutscene.
  • Master mode. Currently, I didn’t notice any difference between Pro and Master in terms of cameras or enforcers. Let me know of you’ve observed such differences during your runs.
  • Some unlocks. I understand that they would like to propose “pirate-themed” items, but is it necessary to get a new SMG? I don’t know. Maybe the Antique Sedative syringe could do the job?

Overall, IOI offered us a great new map, in line with the previous maps of Hitman WoA. And for free, allowing all players and newcomers to enjoy it.
Thank you IOI for this map :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Had the same issue on PlayStation Account. Could it be the Generic Poison challenge overrides the Chef kill when first performing it? As already did the poison challenge on my PC account before doing the Chef kill.

Did it, but dressed as a chef and I got the challenge unlocked. Maybe you encountered a bug or something else.

I don’t think so. When I did it, I unlocked both challenges at once (Made to Order and Tasteless, Traceless).

I was on PS4, in my suit the whole time. I prepared the food and poisoned it, then woke up the chef with her alarm clock. I then ran around the map exploring for a while, and he died after several minutes, giving me both Made to Order and Tasteless, Traceless.

Maybe, a fair few of the Kill setups do require some degree of foreknowledge to work. Namely the Hippie Kill with he gas cannister and Crest giving the Offer next to the Oil Drum. But given how little setup is required to get the targets there, would feel like mission stories would be over in a minute or so. Think the Bartender requests are the closest to where a mission story is needed as takes place all over the Island and few times where the game doesn’t greatly indicate a rough location (Spent hours looking for that Cigar box)

May I ask and this isn’t meant to sound mean I am just curious. Are you autistic? I have an autistic friend who has strong compulsions to play games in a specific way and as far as I know can not not do it that way.

I get roleplaying and I agree on some aspects of your gameplay but I do not feel bound to never break it.

No idea, although I wouldn’t be surprised if I had some degree of Asperger’s.

Anyway it’s just a game so can’t use that as a way to diagnose some one.

Just tried waking the hippie up and then just watching him, hoping he’d go to the meeting with Akka.
He doesn’t. He just goes back to sleep.

Too bad. One thing this could’ve done is allow you to get the submarine key off the hippie instead. But of course I imagine some imaginative soul would’ve found a way of making it a cool kill as well.

Funny how this is similar to his last appearance in Santa Fortuna, right? He will never meet Franco even if the bus brick is fixed. He travels all across the world yet never does what he is supposed to do there.

What did you expect? He´s a fu*king hippie

Any levels you do like suit only?

I don’t like the idea of playing suit-only. The level doesn’t really matter. It’s not in 47’s character to stay in his suit the whole time.

For me it would be Santa Fortuna. Taking down a drug cartel in a black suit with nothing more than a fiber wire really does it for me. Bonus points when I decide to ghost it - no incapacitating NPCs, only using distractions if necessary. :ghost:

Yes. It didn’t unlock for me on PS4. I did the same sequence of events on my Xbox and it did unlock: wake up chef, run over to kitchen shack, prepare food, poison food, run away and wait.

I think on PS4 that was my first poison kill, so I unlocked Tasteless Traceless, but not Made to Order. On Xbox i think I had already unlocked Tasteless Traceless. Might have something to do with it.

But yes I noticed Made to Order was not unlocked on my ps4 despite having done the thing to get me the thing.

Sure it is. 47 only takes disguises when he needs to. If he can complete a mission without needing to take the risk of being caught as someone he’s not, he’ll do it.

Regardless of what he needs to do, the disguise mechanic has been present since the very first game. It is an integral part of how the game is designed. If every single game has featured the mechanic for disguises, and the scoring provides a bigger reward for changing into a disguise than it does for staying in your suit, I feel justified enough in my stance.

I don’t know what other lore or story materials exist to suggest that 47 only changes out of his suit when it’s absolutely necessary and I’m not sure that I actually care. I get that some players like the additional challenge of not changing out of their suit and I get that some players think that the suit and tie look is somehow “professional”, but I, personally, am not into it and will not support that sort of play style. It’s just the way I do it.

When we assume that the legacy cinematic of Hitman 2016 is canon, than I guess both applies.

We see him serving food to Hayamoto in a cooks disguise, while he kills Delgado in his suit.

So I think he takes on disguises if he must, but if he can avoid it, he does everything in his suit.

I will freely admit that I am incredibly biased against the suit itself too. My hatred of ties is well known I think. I am more likely to do suit-only play throughs of levels if I’m wearing a tie-less outfit, I admit. I dare say I hate ties as much as Heisenberg loves gloves!

Well… I think 47s suit is kinda… overrated… :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:
