I half agree, would give it a 6 though.

I talked to Smith and yes, they are reused lines. For now I haven’t found any new lines from 47, so seems like David Bateson wasn’t around when they recorded the voice lines for the map

Is that controversial? I havent heard much atm but seems like a pretty cool map so far. It seems like challenges and mission story wise they mightve done a new york again and accidentally left some out. No SASO + sniper challenges (edit: also, no challenges at all on contracts mode. Which is weird. As well as no trophies ala Patient Zero) for example and no mission story guides, dont mind the latter but the former will definitely get patched in

Edit: even the reddit is liking this map and i usually hate reading the reddit. Another thing i wanna say is Noel Crest has guard AI and that makes me happy

It’s nice being able to once more step into a map having no idea where things are and gradually building an understanding of the area through simply walking around. First impressions is that it appears to be a map of the smaller size like the rest of H3 maps, but I still really like what I’m seeing so far and I want to wait with proper judgement until I play the mission more than 2 times. It’s weird not having the usual SA challenges in the Classics tab and I also couldn’t see the mission listed anywhere in the campaigns, but mission stories not being listed don’t bother me that much.
I still don’t really get which holes in the story it’s supposed to fill other than giving some explanation to what happened between Whittleton and Sgail, but maybe I just missed a few things.
Also I managed to partially break the slapping contest by joining it when everyone was panicked after Akka got blown up. The mission story still progressed as normal, but now I have a recording of 47 slapping air.

I don’t know if it’s been brought up yet, but apparently, Noel Crest was mentioned all the way back in the Showstopper when Sir Humphrey Titus Rutherford referred to him as his fixer during a phone call.

Same here. Been looking for over an hour for a stupid cigar box. I found the letter that says the cigars were buried and tried to talk to Farah but she’s stuck drinking vodka out of an invisible glass.

EDIT: Thanks to SilentWraith’s post I finally found the stupid box.

He’s been mentioned in Colorado too. Fans have been speculating about him being a target in future since 2016.

I’d heard about that one, but I didn’t know he’d been mentioned since basically the beginning in Paris.

I watched some other dialogues 47 might have with: Farah as a pirate, Noel Crest after slapping his people, Akka as the hippie, and I’m almost certain all of his lines are reused or at least are put together with pieces of the old lines. Can’t say for sure though.

Yes, I have the same feeling!

My first impressions: I wasn’t into the atmosphere that much. I don’t know, another island/tropical area, I guess. :man_shrugging: But I really like the level design, so there’s definitely potential for it to grow on me. And exploring a level for the first time is always awesome. :+1:

There are certainly some things I look forward to checking out more closely, some interesting opportunities and characters. I found the slapping contest funny, but didn’t have a chance to explore it and I did two of Akka’s ā€œmission storiesā€ but didn’t have things set up right to kill her with them, so I want to go back to them.

Here are the kills from my first playthrough. (And, no, I didn’t mean to get into the container before I killed Akka.)

Not Silent Assassin, but the kills themselves were unnoticed, which is mostly what I aim for on a first run.

Any word on when the missing challenges from ā€œThe Classicsā€ tab will be added to Ambrose Island?

Has anyone found the diary piece #3? That’s the only one I’m missing and I don’t want to get them all over again on my next playthrough.

First impressions from one SASO run

ā€œPhoned inā€ might be harsh considering it’s free. It’s obviously nothing we haven’t seen before, no mission stories and no new ideas, though I haven’t explored it all. Regardless, I had fun and thought it was a decently balanced mission. Nothing offensive about it but nothing impressive either. Functionally its quite barebones and the setting doesn’t do much for me. I wonder if they initially meant to do more with this idea and scaled it back at some point. Anyway, i’d probably rank it around Santa Fortuna on my list, towards the bottom of the pack.

Ambrose Island… Had loads of unfinished studying but a new map is serious shit. Played for around an hour.

Here are some observations of mine:

  • Ambrose can be found in the destinations tab and not in any campaign tab (PS4). The exact opposite was reported for Xbox. The Classic challenges are also missing. @Clemens_IOI Can you report that to the team, beside the invisible 20th mastery level you did?

  • Crest’s guards went hostile instantly after I crossed the bridge :slightly_frowning_face: Akka’s guards were nicer when they found me in their area and guided me out.

  • Crest’s militia outfit has clipping issues in its hat.

  • I was expecting their meeting to have some sniper opportunities. They’re for most indoors, and not close to an explosive/falling object at the same time.

  • The new style of taking an intel picture is slick. I like it more than the fuzzy animation there was before.

  • The slapping contest is a great addition, with the cool winding mechanism.

My route:

First did the slapping contest, and I was surprised to have Crest talk with 47. The meeting led to nothing though (Maybe I should’ve reapproached him?)

Then by Grey’s suggestion, I climbed the radio tower to signal the meeting. With the disappointment explained above, I got bored and sniped them either way from the tower which led to losing SA.

In my route to the satellite uplink, found an explosive in one of the prison cells and attached it to the side of the thing, Boom.

Grey came there to pick me up. It was nice all in all.

Now more visuals

Is this guy seriously welding aside two explosive tanks :skull: That’s Crest’s backup plan for getting access to the satellite

Poor man…

ā€œBrothersā€

Already discussed in the leaks thread but the last time we got a flyer in a new map, it was indicating an even newer map. Hakan said maps, and it could very much be due to Freelancer, but a man can dream…

Uh, why is there no SA/SO, SO or Sniper Assassin challenges? That seems a bit… odd.
