CHONGQING, China (Mission #4) - Location Discussion

1- The paradox. How close poor old buildings are to the brand new facility.
2- The neon lights in the dark definitely make an astonishing experience. Shout out to whoever designed the level.

It is the neon lit street for me, although I gotta say that’s the one part that felt the most underwhelming to me. Too less of it and too cramped. The facility and Hush’s apartment block come to mind fairly quickly, but it’s not that I like those.

The rainy weather, bright neon signs, puddles everywhere.

Also the amount of agility and climbable surfaces. There’s almost always a way around something, or a shortcut to get somewhere, just by climbing on/outside a building.

I know some people were disappointed that Chongqing wasn’t massively populated, but I’ve always liked normally crowded places during off hours, so I love the sparsely populated streets.

With the night and the rain, it adds a nice sense of introspection and isolation that fits the mission beautifully. Definitely my favorite atmosphere in the trilogy.

The wet neon lit streets, was what draw me to the level. It was nice change of tone from the more sunny levels that defined the majority of the trilogy. Sadly the interesting aspect of the level was criminally under utilised. Here I’m hoping to see a bonus mission breath new life into the cityscape of Chongqing.

I highly enjoy the look and feel of the rainy City with the neon lights. It looks exactly how i imagined Hitman Contracts looked like 16 years or so ago lol.
Its by far my favorite looking and most atmospheric Map from the entire WoA, but the Main Mission is really meh, sadly.

They have a good basic but need more explore street and change story for something more like hitman contracts style and it will better for side mission bonus

Definitely the neon lights from the 80’s…
They give me V A P O R W A V E vibes

The atmosphere with these neon lit streets. But the first time I saw the underground lab, I got some Fallout 4 institute vibes, and I didn’t expect this. Great level overall.

To me it’s probably the view you first get when walking up the stairs from the subway station into the “proper” part of the streets.

Sure it’s the neon lit streets, but it’s also just art design and image composition. Truly a stunning first impression.

If we’re not going on visuals this moment:

Struck me as a wonderful injection of humanity into the game. It really fit the melancholic mood of the level.

For me the most iconic thing about this level has to be the rain. After a level like Haven where we got the tease of rain with the clouds rolling in and New York with the rain outside, being able to actually see it, walk through it, and feel it on 47’s jacket is unique in the series.

Defenitly the Rain. In my Opinion it’s as much of a Location Character as the Crowds in Mumbai, the Sea in Haven or Height in Dubai. (Which does not mean that I would mind a Rainy Bonus Mission in another Location of course.)

I think the neon lit and the restaurant  thats the most beautiful in the map and the view of course. The ica facility nice but could be better to explore more of this beautiful city and more stores in tradtional chinese and Train station open :innocent:

For me it’s the neon lit streets. It looks so beautiful. I love looking at skyline and the traffic on the riverside walkway. The cable cars are also iconic. I love the restaurant and its atmosphere.

The view of the city over the river. All the lights of the buildings and how they reflect off of the water is just gorgeous.

I really like the story’s default starting point. The long walk alone, the panorama, passing the homeless literally and physically beneath everyone else in the underpass, all in the night with just the sound of the rain while you pass the few still awake. The atmosphere is excellent. Your level designers did some great work on all the location introductions.

The neons, the main streets and the main square are genuinely beautiful, but there is not much to see, discover or do in the streets. I always travers them without really stopping. It’s an untapped potential honestly. Maybe if we could have a target go in the street, use the karaoke… Even when Imogen goes out of the facility she only passes through the courtyard and some stairs. Maybe if the Arcade was used as a testing ground for predictive algorithms. But currently no targets and no story missions happen in the main streets.

One expetion to that remark is the unique double assassination/sniper kill. Looking up and climbing this one building that seems at first glance innocent, being hidden by a neon, looking at the level from above, it’s great and one of the best mission story in terms of atmosphere.

As for Iconic, the discussion with Xiaqing Feng. It’s a rare sincere and calm moment. It’s touching, especially because it’s unique and at the tail end of 47 story. I’m not entirely certain, but was it written to show 47 gaining back his social empathy after his injection in Hitman 2 ?

I also agree with the rain, it adds so much. And really gives one some good old Contracts vibes

I finally got to visit Chongqing. Well, simply, it’s my new favourite level. As @Clemens_IOI says it has a strong ‘Contracts’ flavour. What makes it truly unique is how you literally blend into the streets and apartments before going into the level itself. The light effects are gorgeous. And i love that the streets are not as crowded as Paris or Mumbai can be.

I consider myself as a gamer/wanderer, sandbox games lover. I just spent an hour visiting the level just for the beauty of it.
And also unlock a few doors
Is there any easter egg with the can dispenser in the arcade?

The level of detail is amazing ( I think that all the Hitman games are stellar at that, even the old ones) But It just adds so much to a level. That it feels lived-in and somewhat real, and that keeps the fantasy strong IMO.

First time I saw the final version of the Chongqing, I just walked around and explored. I even forgot what my main objective was
