And there we have awesome cover art. Something I wished the 4K collection had. Will I buy these? Yes probably.

My favourite covers are the wide-screen dvd covers with a golden trim.

I think it’s gonna be more like a cinematic experience in 6 parts than a regular series. :kissing_closed_eyes:
Who is ready ? :raised_hand:

Let’s be very, very honest with ourselves: would anybody even know or care who Ewan McGregor is by now if it had not been for this role? It’s good to see him back in the role that made him.

(Operating under the assumption that he would not have landed any major roles in any other major franchises like, say, Harry Potter or the MCU)

(Of course, the same could be said of practically every major Star Wars actor aside from Sam Jackson)

I’ve been following Ewan McGregor’s career since Trainspotting so it wasn’t the Obi-Wan role that made him famous to me. If you like his stuff, I would also highly recommend the motorcycle tours he did with Long Way Round and Long Way Down. I know there was also a Long Way Up which I haven’t seen because it’s an AppleTV exclusive and I won’t give Apple money.

While a lot of actors had their big starts with Star Wars plenty of them were also established too.

Ewan McGregor had Trainspotting

Natalie Portman has Leon the Professional

Christopher Lee has been established within the Horror scene with Dracula and Wickerman.

Liam Neeson had Schindlers List and Dark Man.

Harrison Ford had American Graffiti

Alec McGuiness had The Bridge on the River Kwai and Lawrence of Arabia.

Peter Cushing had Dracula and Frankenstein films too

A lot of the actors could of most likely landed roles without Star Wars they just ended up getting roles that made them iconic.

With that being said I do think people like Hayden wouldn’t of had great careers without Star Wars since he was primarily doing Canadian based television like Goosebumps.

But when did they become practically household names? All those movies listed, not everybody has watched or heard of. However, everybody has heard of Star Wars, even if they haven’t watched it. Each of those listed, while having had a big role before, we’re catapulted into being part of fandom from SW.

As I recall, when George Lucas did A New Hope, he wanted relative unknowns for the various roles except for Obi-Wan and Tarkin. Everyone else was purposely given to actors that weren’t big Hollywood names (you can argue how well known Peter Cushing was though).

By the time he got to Phantom Menace, he wanted bigger named actors. Obi-Wan in New Hope was meant to be the wizened old hero character and him being the biggest named actor in the film spoke to that. The Jedi in Phantom Menace were well known in that movie so using big names was more appropriate to that film.

It was a big deal when the cast of Phantom Menace was announced and I distinctly remember being excited prior to the movie about who was playing those roles.

I don’t doubt that there is a big segment of the population that never saw Trainspotting, but a lot of the cast of Phantom Menace were not unknown actors.

Not unknowns, I know they had some popular stuff before them, but after that, even people who didn’t see PM or their previous work started knowing who they were. It was what launched them into the top tiers.

Now, mind you, this was likely because of franchising. People tend to learn the names of actors more when they know they’re gonna appear in sequels as part of an overall series, and remember to associate those names with their faces more when they appear in their favorite series. Prior to PM, while I’m sure many people might have seen and recognized McGregor or Portman, the majority were probably like, “hey, isn’t that the guy from Trainspotting? And isn’t that the President’s daughter from Mars Attacks?” But after showing up in Star Wars, and knowing they’ll be seen again, fans tend to learn/remember names more so that when they inevitably come up in conversation later, they’ll know who is referring to whom.

Ewen was on Kimmel tonight. He was absolutely using a zoom filter and it made me laugh.

Not a show that really had me excited when it was announced. But the more I hear and see the more I’m looking forward to this show.

The show has a lot of potential. It’ll either be great or it’ll fall flat. I don’t see it merely being “OK”.

Also, Obi-Wan tomorrow! Really looking forward to that!
