Yeah I’m honestly thinking of cancelling my ps4 preorder and just getting it in stores. I preordered because I want to play it asap and I have the 20th free but not the 21st or 22nd. That’s such a strange business decision to me. Oh well …
I don’t understand this decision either…of all games for the last 7 years to mess with the PSN unlock times for Hitman 3 to be the first is something I never imagined. Is iOi doing this or is PlayStation doing this? I don’t have other preorders right now because the games I want next aren’t up for preorder but I am interested in knowing if the digital releases of other upcoming games are messed up like this or if it’s only Hitman 3.
I highly doubt that IO would work with Square Enix again. Square Enix dropped them (which nearly ended them) and gave their funding to that shitty Avengers game.
I’ve also tagged Travis in various posts, so the chances of this not being intended is quite slim as if it was an error I would imagine he would reply to at least one of the posts to stop us getting to where we are now.
I think you can also run PS4 versions of games from an external drive on PS5. But to run the proper PS5 versions of games then yeah…they gotta be installed on the PS5 itself.
I just realized something…if iOi don’t have their servers up when the physical discs release people will not be able to play the game…or at least not be able to make any progress. That would be horrific. Can you imagine going out of your way to pick the game up from a store at midnight(and A LOT of people will) only to go home and be told you can’t play? And the delay for the digital unlock is horrific too. I really hope they realize how bad this is and adjust it before release.
The servers are already up though. People are playing preview copies of the game fine and are able to complete challenges etc. The servers are already functioning and ready.
But if that is the case then why are they going out of their way to screw over everyone who bought digital? Are they trying to punish those of us who got that 10% discount that PSN had for the deluxe edition or what?
idk. And the fact they’re going against such an established norm, and still haven’t officially confirmed it, there is going to be a bit of a backlash when people go to play it at midnight and realise the game is still locked. They’ve not given it enough time to have the information spread out to the masses.
I send an E-Mail and ask them friendly to give a update about the release schedule. I don’t expect to give me an answer but they take a look and maybe do a tweet or even post a release schedule and explain the huge differences.
Maybe it’s just an Error like the price increase of the epic store.
I hate how they give the most useless, unhelpful, and robotic answers when they don’t know. The least they could say is “We can see the problem but we do not know the cause.” or “The developer/publisher chose this release time please contact them.” or SOMETHING more on point and more substantial that telling you the bloody release date you already knew. If you get an email to rate how helpful they were give them a 0 and explain they completely failed to understand and address the issue in any meaningful way.
