If it will be like Deluxe Escalations , let’s admit none of us will look back to contract after maybe 4th times lol (at most). So as you see escalations never been repeatable as much as bonus levels etc. Soo… what is the point of giving this bundle price equivalent to bonus level pack etc. ?

Isnt this anti consumer behaviour ? Or am i misinterpreting ?

I will be honest here and say while I agree with the criticisms overall; I think it’s a mistake to call IO greedy or exploitative until we know for sure what we are getting. They were very upfront about the Deluxe Escalations; but these are simply being referred to as contracts. Does it makes sense for them all to be escalations? Yes, especially considering the price point is constant. But here are a few notes to consider;

  1. The maps are looking to be reworked. That means these are at least more premium escalations; and while I admit it’s still possible for that to be low effort it’s still something more than your run of the mill escalation. Indeed, it’s better than the Deluxe.

  2. I don’t imagine IO would be foolish enough to price 7 escalations 50% more than 6, with an art book and soundtrack. That would be very silly, and so if it comes to pass that would be a valid complaint. As it stands, it perhaps suggests that there could be something more to this.

  3. The blog post states that each pack will come with “at least one sin-themed item”. Greed comes with 2. They could be just playing it safe, but it’s possible that packs with only one item may have more effort into the actual contract. Wishful thinking? Probably.

  4. The blog post explicitly states “The focus of Act 1: Greed is a new Escalation”. This implies to me that the fact it is an escalation is noteworthy, as if there will be other types. Speaking of the escalation, nobody seems to have mentioned that this one “allows you to carry certain items over between each of the three stages.” This is probably nothing much to sniff at, but it is an intriguing suggestion, even if I imagine the execution will be underwhelming.

The point is, we really don’t know. Games companies have a tendency to get worse over time, in various ways. But to leap to the conclusion that this is happening to IO is jumping the gun a little I’d say. I will be getting this DLC, because content, but I will be waiting for gameplay first just for the illusion of free will. I will fully agree if this turns out to be a bunch of mildly altered levels with some boring escalations, that the price will have been too high, even if the unlocks do look cool thus far. But I think to assert that these 7 escalations, an unconfirmed fact, are too expensive and that IO are greedy, is rather pessimistic. Don’t buy this if you don’t think it’s worth it, and those who do may regret it, but regardless don’t blame people for liking what we’re seeing so far.

On a closing note, we are still getting free content, which will probably be not bad, including H3 ETs, which may or may not be reworked. The Goldballer seems like it won’t be locked behind a paywall, which is good, but again, that is unconfirmed. Take my thoughts how you like, and while I feel all views on this topic are valid, let’s not go too far from what we know for sure; negatively, or positively.

Just as a note, the standalone Deluxe Pack which upgrades the standard H3 edition is around 35$. So in that regard the price is comparable.

That’s a very good point, so consider me corrected.

In my opinion this is just a gimmick to have aomething “new” as a unique selling point.

Wow this thread will soon rival the Epic exclusivity one in posts/day

I’m certainly late to the conversation but here’s my two cents.

First up, I think it’s perfectly fine that this expansion is not defaulted to be free for Deluxe owners. With the Berlin Deluxe Escalation launching on the 30th, I feel like we’ve receiced what was advertised on that front. Who knows, Deluxe owners may also continue to receive some specifically tailored free content with the continued updates to the game. Now, whether or not the Deluxe stuff was worth it overall might vary from player to player, but personally I am happy with it. I have enjoyed the Deluxe Escalations far more than the standard H3 ones so far.

As for the Sins expansion, I’d be hesitant to purchase up front until we know more details. The Deluxe Edition was already a hefty $106 CDN ($120 after tax) so to drop another $30ish into essentially unknown content so soon after launch isn’t necessarily something I feel compelled to do. I’d rather wait until later on when I can see if I truly want all seven stages or if I’d rather just cherry pick a few depending on the unlocks and whatnot.

Waiting for the “ops we did all prices wrong, it is just 20$ for the pack haha”.

Urge to Kill fading

That’s good, still on the fence but least pricing is more fair. Just need to await more details now.

And then you get a revamped map pack where providence never existed and they each have actual target you’re hired to kill.

Good news to see that the game will be properly regionally priced in the UK. [Although how many times do IOI have to put out incorrect information initially, only to then have to row it back later on? Too many times for my liking. I wish they would take more care in their comms: it’s now regularly the least impressive thing about their business, and I think they should do a lot better with it.]

However, I’ll still be waiting until the entire 7 Sins Pack is released before making my purchasing decision: if they want the price of nearly half a HITMAN game from us, then I want some new content that is at very least as replayable as one full new map*, and as much as I like Escalations, they are not content I ever replay and so I’ll be wanting more for my money if I’m to purchase this.

*not necessarily stating that a whole new map would be the requirement for me to take the plunge on this, as they’ve already said they don’t expect to be making new maps, but I want something as replayable as a new map in aggregate, which might be a couple of Bonus Missions on existing maps etc.

Well we know that Act 1: Greed will be focused on Escalations, however, the rest of the DLC is still very much in the air. Hopefully once the new Roadmap/Season of Sin starts in April we’ll get an early idea of what’s coming in May.

Personally I’d rather see the content improve to justify the price than to see price cuts to justify the content…

Still, speculating has been fruitless. I’ll just wait and see how this DLC evolves througout the year.

You know you’ll buy it as soon as they hint at Diana in a bikini at Haven for Lust.

I’ve said this once and I’ll say it again, I hope Deluxe Players get special access to the butcher suit that has been leaked  It will go nicely in line with the other nostalgia disguises we’ve seen from the past games.
