A cool idea for these ‘sins’ could be an altered ‘Instinct’ mode, either darker or more sinister look when using it to go with the theme.
I focused on Berlin today but I dipped into this. It definitely had a good amount of effort put into it, with lots of cool visual changes and unique voice work, as well as interesting gameplay mechanics. Will 7 of these be worth $30? That depends on the person surely, but I’m not feeling burned at all.
I think the main issue for most is that it’s an escalation and people dramatically prefer missions with saves and challenges and such, but honestly I’m not sure I’d say this has any less effort put into it than a Patient Zero mission. Hard to say really, but in the end maybe it just comes down to whether you like escalations and want them to be more involved.
Anyway, looking forward to diving in more and seeing what they do with the other 6. It’s not like they could just repeat the coin mechanics, they all have to be very different.
The Golden Pimp Suit and Pimp Cane made it worth it for me.
Also escalation with more than 3 challenges is nice.
More like 1 dollar per minute lol
Don’t give them idea’s, we’ll have to pay for the ‘1 Hour Play Pass’
I appreciate that other people will like it but it just doesn’t tickle my plumbs to be honest. I don’t even bother with escalations and any other side content for the most part and just constantly replay the base levels which is fantastic enough for me.
I’m not a fan of stuff which is really far removed from the base game i.e. collecting Easter eggs, collecting coins etc. I prefer playing classic Hitman style rather than a gamey style collection type of game.
Hopefully we will see some levels in the old The Icon, House Built On Sand and Landslide mould i.e. modified versions of the current levels with a fleshed out story and targets that fit within the canon.
An extra level entirely like Haven or Golden Handshake would be brilliant of course but I’d be happy with something similar to the above.
I look forward to your 5 minute run of all three levels, impressive you did it first time too
They’re putting a ton of effort into these escalations now, so I think that’s where their focus is rather than bonus missions. Egg Hunt is as developed as Holiday Hoarders, and Greed has new VO and map redesigns and all that. Obviously that’s not going to be everyone’s cup of tea, but since they track everything we do I’m guessing they have a reason to be focusing where they’re focusing?
There’s also the fact that since season one the maps have been much more designed around the main story rather than other modes, which I think limits the possibilities for bonus missions more than people realize. There’s a reason Landslide and House Built on Sand are so cherished, and it’s because Sapienza and Marrakesh’s main missions didn’t use the entire map.
Actually, it’s almost 7 dollars here. Also, I’m not giving IO money for mediocore escalation and some eye-piercing suit (atleast for now).
I think IO is doing a great job with these special escalations, and I don’t entirely agree with a lot of the qualms people have that they should be missions instead. I think the escalations are pretty unique considering the amount of contracts we have and the difficulty levels help make it more interesting.
That said, I’d still much rather bonus missions that fit into the grounded side of the world. I think Chongqing has a great opportunity to change the setting to day time, convert the block into something else and utilize the square, rooftops and alleys more, and maybe Dubai if the exhibition was changed to something else.
I think we still have some great potential for Hitman 2 bonus missions, but I understand IO probably aren’t going to do much new for those maps.
I’m not so sure to be honest. I haven’t seen many people wanting collection type escalation missions, have they? But saying that I’m not here that much these days due to work ha. Seems more something that they want to add rather than what the community wants adding but I suppose if it’s released, didn’t take them long to develop and people enjoy it then it’s fine.
Even when the first game came out in 2016 they were releasing stuff like holiday hoarders, the vampire escalation (can’t recall the name) and similar gimmick based escalation type stuff when the game was still very poorly optimised and people were giving the game poor ratings based on this.
Of course Hitman 2 and 3 greatly improved in the optimisation aspect though but for me this type of thing is too much of a deviation from the usual gameplay that I love.
Very true. And as far as I can recall 47 definitely acts like it is his first time in each location in this game which could be a problem to fit other story missions like those into the same locations.
The focus on narrative makes bonus missions a little more difficult in this game for sure. Chongqing I definitely see no problem with, since he knew the data center was there. Maybe we could even visit it when he’s still ICA employed? (Don’t know what good that would do tho)
Dubai is tougher since the main mission is the building’s inauguration. You could always take the elusive target/patient zero approach and treat it basically like parallel universe 47, not even acknowledging the context for the main missions.
The DLC will likely give Heartburn with all those challenges.
True. You were right about Chongqing actually. That definitely has potential based on its size and Hush’s block could’ve certainly conceivably been something else at some point too as you said. Maybe a military base with a faction planning on attacking the ICA and if 47 takes out their leader they will be crippled. And then maybe with the ICA building itself they could go with an angle that somebody has infiltrated the facility and 47 has to find out who they are and take them out.
There is also Berlin which they could certainly rejig into something but I can’t remember if 47 has connections to the club itself or if it is just a random club nearby where he is meant to meet Olivia. All I can remember is he tells Olivia to “go to Berlin” and then the club mission starts not long after.
Hush’s complex is a whorehouse for the Lust escalation. 47 meets Lei Ling again.
You can steal this idea if you want IO
Yeah they could really make the block just about anything, I would think it could conceivably have been some apartments, maybe a cafe, a store on the lower levels before Hush took it over.
Grey was 47’s link to Club Hölle, that’s why you hear the owner talking about Grey in his office. Maybe they could do something there but from a lore perspective probably not.
This the most gangsta thing I have read today.
I bought all 7, because I knew I was going to and to me it’s whatever, but yeah, if you arn’t sure if it’s worth it to you, you probably should wait on it.
Based on the trailer and the thing they wrote on their website, I’m guessing that the “Season of Greed” will have more than just this escalation as part of the Greed DLC. Whatever that ends up being. This escalation is not worth $5 in my mind. I’m not asking for a refund, but I will say if thats all we are getting for the DLC, even if the rest is just a few little minor things, then I’ll feel a little more vocal about not understanding where they got the price point of this dlc.
I’m also one of the people that likes escalations. Hitman is about replayability, and in comparison to ET’s which will not let you play them more than once, escalations at least feel like a fun way to play through the levels I enjoy while doing something different. With that said, their hard focus on escalations, which at first I liked, is starting to feel a little played out. I also really liked getting new suits and gear as unlocks, but almost all of these suits are goofy, which is fun for some of them, but some actual cool suits would be nice.
Besides an orange filter, a frog statue at the starting location and coins in the atrium (also at the starting location) what good amount of effort put into it am I missing? You surely can’t be talking about the unlocks?
I’m very happy you enjoy this new paid escalation and I’m really happy for all the other users who are having a blast with their purchase. I wish I could see the perks too. But “tons of effort?” No wonder IOI charges $30 for this DLC with so many people that easily satisfied. I’ve watched a stream of the entire thing and I’m still not impressed. Maybe it’ll grow on me later and I’ll change my mind.
I’m still a bit confused about this. Are we positive the escalation is the only “paid” part of this Season of Greed thingy? The rest is all going to be free?
Basically the rest of the season is going to be the usual roadmap stuff?
