Make it disable the leaderboard like some things did an absolution, I dont even want to play the game, i want to paly in my, bald, james bald sandbox, dont wanna unlock shit, I dont wanna find out what the story is, I wanna run in, blow shit up, shoot all the guards, take out whoever |'ve decided the target is this time and then go do a car chase level in another game.
If you want to make the game harder for yourself you can, its called contracts mode! Make it as hard as you like, you have that funtionality, just not in the story mdoe, why isnt that enough?

that obviously wasn’t they way they implemented it in h2. if they just did that, nobody would’ve complained
it’s not about making it as hard as you can. instead it’s about making it reasonably challenging to make it interesting and fun. it’s not like the game had been impossible to play before the bank had this phone as an unlock

So uh, anybody else noticed that the Flash Phone is also gone? Used to be under Tools, same as the Electrocution Phone, but now they’re both MIA. There was nothing wrong with the Flash Phone and it was a safe alternative to the Exploding Phone in situations where you might want to lure someone to answer it without killing them. What’s up with that?

THEN DONT USE THE PHONE! This is dark souls easy mode, you dont like it dont use it. Its optional, and takes up a valuable space for a lockpick or coins.
Paly contracts mode that require you to shoot people poison them whatever, dont come into my game experiance and take stuff out of it.

Flash phone was/is a harmless item compared to the noobopohone and moreover the part of a DLC-pack.
So if it’s gone is strange, but I hope explosive one is still with us

That is what IO did by removing it. That is way more consistent than aligning the game around it to fix it’s issues. Nerfing had been possible too but IO did not do that.

Yes, the Exploding Phone is just fine, still exists, and can be used to lure, asplode, and thrown-KO people.
Incidentally, Napoleon Blownaparte can also do thrown KOs now. It will start playing as soon as it hits the ground after bonking someone though, so watch out. The other audio lures also work a lot better than they did in H2, to the point that their varying ranges (Micro/Regular+Mixtape+Napoleon/Phone) are actual tactical considerations. You can still get people stuck in infinite audio lure loops but it’s not quite as easy as it used to be, which again I think is a good thing.

it’s not easy mode because the leaderboards are the same. there is an easy mode called casual already. you shouldn’t have to resort to self-imposed challenges to have fun especially when that makes you less viable in competition.
you’re not the only one who plays the game. stop blaming random people for ioi’s decision. most would rather them tweaking it or nerfing it instead of just removing it anyway, me included.
i don’t want to reply to you anymore since you’re obviously too angry at the moment to discuss stuff properly

They’re being kinda rude but dismissive replies like this aren’t exactly going to de-escalate lol. Removing an item obviously isn’t the same as taking it off the leaderboard, and if they had a way to do that for one item it would open the door for a whole new category of “cheat items” that are fun to mess with. If we only accept unlocks that don’t alter the existing balance at all, we’re only ever going to get more reskins.

But i don’t understand why so mad over its existence in a single player game.
Even single player games still meta’s, moreso if you have a speedrunning community. Balance the game for those at the high level.

I’m gonna generalise here, so feel free to correct me, but I get the suspicion it has very little to do with that.
Weird. If your friend drinks the coffee, large…do you run too to toilet, yes?
Lethal Poison is in this weird situation where making it not an accident would turn what Sedatives were in 2016; completely outclassed. Even Emetic poison serves a purpose; to split guards from the target. Poison can be hard to trace, and it certainly won’t be traced back to 47 anytime soon. The E-Phone doesn’t have much of a justification for being an accident kill as it’s literally a gadget made for electrocution, and I can’t think of any reasoning to justify it in-universe. Even the explosive phone would be a better candidate for accident kills, as there’s inherent risk for killing someone in a crowded area. As as we all know, batteries have been known to expand and catch fire.
They should have kept the phone not let supporters bully them into making game tough for fun.
If I were to guess, and this is just a guess, it was just badly designed from the offset. It was designed to be OP from the beginning, and short of nerfing electricity-based kills (which would greatly affect other kill methods, especially actual accident kills), there isn’t much they can do to fix it, so they removed it.
Just my two cents.

Thank you for your perspective and time expressing it however I am still unmoved. You want for game to be “balanced” for the pleasure of speed running, as you say high level. I don’t know about this as I am unskilled casual I only know from watching SummingSalt on youtube but I don’t understand taking things out of a game for balance. I see them using whole game, faults and all to exploit and master game-not shout to game maker to make game for them. Also confusion because I have memory when Sniper had ability to shoot through walls and speed runner like that-but now it’s gone. Shooting through walls not OP and not kept for pleasure of speed running? Briefcase homing missile not OP. Who say what is OP, or its so obvious you silly to not know. Content is cut to serve the balance of leaderboards…
My opinion is this why I say elitism and making game hard, people, super fan, like game hard so they like game hard for all and ask that things be taken away. Why always have to take away? Take away camera system in guard booth in Bangkok, take away phone no more kills that way. When I read comments from all my view from word choice is not likening how others play.
But this is not my war I say no more, I don’t play with phones. I shoot in the face and run. My side is that I don’t like items in game being taken away because the super fans get upset, I see it in other games all the time.
This is a serious topic for you and gentleman, I see passion. I hope to see your passion on the leaderboards-I will look for your names. Before I blow past, but now I look.

I want my phone back. Is like you give 47 a nice gimmick and now take that away. For me the gimmick are also the most fun in the James Bond movies. IOI decided now like a Politician what is best for the community… where is the democratic process ?
There are many other ways to consider.
You can implement a marker on the leaderboard for players that used the phone more than 10 times. Because if everybody is honest also the biggest „this is overpowered“ announcers have used it in the past.
Or give negative XP for using the phone.
I play the game not very good and for the fun and experimenting with the gimmick.
And to retire the phone is like taking a Favorit toy from a child.
So maybe we can open a democratic consent on that topic. In these hard Times we need to stay together!

To be honest, I don’t think they went far enough removing the electrocution phone. I think they should have removed the puke gun too. It’s ruined too many decent contracts. The same is true of the emetic remote mine because you put it in a briefcase without any risk.
