ICA Electrocution Phone removed from HITMAN 3

Thing is, I don’t think it was envisioned as a ‘cheat item’, it was just an item that turned out to be too OP when it comes to getting easy SA ratings. I’m surprised that the end result was an eventual removal rather than a nerf, but I guess it was the easiest thing to do rather than changing the item’s functionality or creating the notion of ‘cheat items’ (which I imagine is a can of worms as it is)
It’s also not just about leaderboards; mastery and challenges come into it too.

KO gun accompany then

I think the KO gun is different. Personally I try to complete all of my runs with no knockouts, but I have no issues with people doing that as part of their own game play. The KO gun can also be quite useful in some well designed contracts that involve unique disguises or luring targets. But if someone takes time to design a contract that requires a specific weapon kill with a target that requires clever manipulation of the environment and players just come along with the puke gun and use that to get some “alone time” with the target, it undermines the efforts of the contract creator. Just my opinion.

Find 10 differences.
Plus that infamous glitch, that grants absolutely free kill even on public

Yeah but the puke gun is slow. I think it’s a little OP sure but I would nerf it by making it illegal to hold in all disguises and by making it so the gas doesnt go through a briefcase. I don’t know many speedruns that rely on killing a target using the puke gun. Main missions of course. The EPhone was always a disappointment for me because I’d see a time like “Haven Island 50 seconds” and get really excited then let down when the Ephone got used. Puke gun is way less common in my experience because there’s so many things faster than it: accident explosions, lethal syringes, even just shooting them.

“If you don’t like the atom bomb don’t use it, but let other people use it.”

Also there’s a reason why Dark Souls still doesn’t have an easy mode. Because it’d negate the point of the game.

But in all honesty cheat items that negate silent assassin would be cool. MGSV did it AMAZINGLY.

They should’ve just kept it in. The whole point of the Hitman trilogy is to make it as much of a challenge as you want it to be, or mess around and try whatever you want. Yes the “ePhone” is a cheap kill and OP. But if I don’t like it I can just not use it… IMAGINE THAT! Why remove it, playing Hitman is not a competitive sport. So what if there’s a “cheaty” item.

There are leaderboards. Plus Hitman is a puzzle game, imagine if Portal 2 had a button that could place a portal right at the end of every test chamber.

Because it breaks the balance. All games have meta’s to some degree. If you make an item that is straight-up better than any other option, then it’s bad for the game.

Even the Sedative and Emetic dart guns have actual drawbacks; for one thing the darts have an arc you need to learn, you need to find a place to shoot from, and it won’t work everywhere. The sedatives have to be as powerful as they are, otherwise we go back to 2016 where they were completely pointless and outclassed, and nobody wants that. And while Emetic poison is more useful for seperating guards from the target, you still have to contend with other gameplay factors.

Should have made it not an accident, seems like a simple fix to me, but ah well.

Has anyone found the Elec Phone with the randomizer mod? I’d be surprised if it wasn’t still in the game, but just doesn’t appear in the inventory, given there is so much other stuff inside the game that is unused.

If I had to guess based on IO’s history, it’s still there - it’s just suppressed and has fallen into that “unused” category.

Maybe the “eletrocution kill” is tied to an “accident state”. Maybe that’s why IOI can’t convert the EP into a non-accident kill…

Well there used to be a bug, that Marrakesh’s payphone electrocution kill invalidated SA. I wonder if it’s still broken in H3’s Marrakesh, though.

Speed running can be more creative, until you reach the WR levels. There, practically all the runs are the same and it’s about optimizing every little detail to get the fastest runs.

I prefer the term: Efficient and Creative Runs, but that’s kind of a mouthful.

I agree. I wish there was an SASO fibre wire run of Paris that DIDNT use the fireworks remote. I’ve tried finding good routes myself but I’m worried that Paris really isn’t as open as the other levels anymore.

I honestly don’t see how they could nerf it in anyway. It was a tool to pretty much cheat the npc out. Like in Hokkiado for the SA/SO where you just needed a magnesium pouch and a ET phone. And another thing is when challenges have “Kill all targets with electricity.” I don’t really think people actually took the time to use something different.

Honestly I expected them to make it emit a spark instead of a complete removal.

Making it not an accident when seen was an obvious way to go, I can only guess that this was harder to accomplish than you’d think. Someone guessed a while back that maybe electricity kills are hard coded as accidents and that would take a ton of work to change.

Yeah, but I thought that they would change to simply emit a spark like a taser so that it only electrocutes someone in a puddle.
