IOI Insider | October 21 (2021)

It sounds interesting, but IMO the mission itself, isn’t really. I don’t think the target says one line of dialogue despite feeling like some sort of leftover ET, and that was really disappointing for me.

You start right next to the target and the only challenge to immediately killing him is a guard, but emetic item would take care of that. I don’t even know if he has any big route because he’s just so damn easy to kill in the first 2 minutes, he even stands underneath a falling object after not long

The challenges that came with it took more time than just exploring the ‘mission’, because they required you to get the target to harder to get to places to kill them; but if they’re not shipping it with the challenges in H3…

Wait why would they do that? That would basically invalidate the reason they implemented that mission.

Oh for some reason I thought it was confirmed, but actually there was an unconfirmed datamine that at least one of the HSF unlocks would be unlocked in a totally unrelated way :S

It’s either in the leaks section or the modding discord if you wanted to know what and how. But hopefully it’s an idea they abandoned and just left WIP stuff in the files for

From what we get on H3 right now:

  • Hitman 3 has abandoned the challenge packs from H1 and 2. Previously, a challenge was tied to the others. When “all” challenges of the challenge pack were done, the last one (a kind of “counter” challenge) was finally done, unlocking the reward.
  • Hitman 2 introduced the rewards tied to mission stories. When three specific mission stories were executed, a reward was unlocked. This is no longer present in H3.
  • EDIT Same outcome for SA challenges. Introduced in H2, there are simplified in H3 with a single difficulty and the removal of the “counter” track.
  • EDIT Present in H1 and H2, the challenge with “completed challenges” from bonus mission (Icon, Landslide, AHBoS) are also removed from H3.
  • All the unlocks tied to challenge packs or mission stories are now tied to mastery track in H3.
  • Moreoever, during the Envy season, IOI has introduced two new challenges with unlocks tied to them (hammer and covert jaeger 7), the two unlocks tied to previous challenge packs that were absent from H3.

Beside few exceptions (there is still the mission story challenge in ICA Facility with the lockpick), it seems that IOI wants to abandon the principle of “counter challenges”. Almost all unlocks are now tied to mastery or single challenges.

EDIT It’s probably due to the numerous issues IOI struggled last year with H2. It takes several months to fix these problems of tracking completed challenges and redeemed unlocks not awarded. To prevent these troubles in H3 (and saving workforce from working on those fixes), IOI decided to remove them totally.

Only ET and FC escape from this pattern. Sounds consistent as these contents are progressively added over time.

In conlusion, I won’t be surprised if the “Snow master” (complete all HSF challenges) disappears when HSF would be released in a close future. Its unlock would probably be transfered to another challenge (like IOI did with hammer and covert sniper).
But what would they do for HH? Keeping the track challenge? Or transfer the 47’s santa suit to a single challenge?

Regarding HSF and Holiday Hoarders:
If the Mills Reverie is a limited-time event, I wouldn’t be surprised that HH and HSF follow the same pattern in December. HH will be firstly available for a limited time, before HSF becomes available a little bit after (like IOI did in H2).

If IOI keeps the same tracks as it did for H2, we would likely get the Mills Reverie, Berlin egg hunt, HH and HSF (and other seasoned contents) permanently available at the end of 2022. Time will tell.

Hopefully the Shashka unlock will be functionally unique in some way, e.g. having special ammo or so. I feel like it´s a bit of a missed opportunity considering the theme and gameplay not to give a machine gun as an unlock (or at least give the Shashka a drum mag).

I hope too (I’m a big advocate for a striker rifle).

The one issue is if the rifle is part of the escalation and its gameplay it will have to be balanced for it and in return be more bland that we might wish.

Now maybe they separated the items between the one used in the escalation and the unlock to have more fun with it without spoiling/breaking the escalation, but I doubt it.

That would be cool indeed.

The rifle seems to be part of the escalation based on the trailer, but perhaps it doesn´t need to be that balanced. Like you say, there might be a difference between the in-mission version and the unlock itself, but I also doubt it.

Either way, here´s hoping that the unlock will be something more than just a mere re-skin of the regular version.

Me too. Maybe a mission where she’s trying to escape from 47.

I hope. I want other seasonal missions. There are a lot of holidays that could be nice ideas for them: Carnival, new years day, chinese new years day, summer, national holidays and even the ones already used (halloween, christmas, easter) could be used again

Me too! I dream of a holiday in Whittleton Creek, it has the best potential for whether it’s Halloween or Christmas , the mission would be performed at night with the shining moon visible from the parc where the election stand is. Pumpkin or snow?

What about a Fourth of July cookout celebration in Whittleton Creek? We can kill someone in a tragic fireworks mishap!

How about New Year’s Eve at the bank in New York? They do a miniature dropping of the ball in the lobby, and we can bring it down right on the target’s head… then kill the other target in a tragic fireworks/Champaign bottle cork mishap!

I think you just really wanna kill someone with a firework

Who, me? Naaah, not at all…

4th of July would be great too, fireworks would be a welcome addition as a weapon/instrument for a good ol’ accident. Perhaps a little bit too “american” though.
Then, why not chinese new year level? There would be fireworks too, much much more fireworks

But in Chongqing, it would be the real deal!

Well, those would be in New York and Vermont, respectively, so yeah, it’d be American celebrations.

How about this: Haven, Dartmoor, or Mendoza, it’s a huge ass baby shower, and the target can die in the unfortunate gender reveal confetti explosion/fireworks mishap?!

I know, also more of an American thing, but it’s being done in other countries too.

Let’s just go with New Year celebration in Whittleton Creek.
It has:
-night
-snow
-fireworks
That way everyone should be happy

Now THAT would be the real deal!

Another thing I want is the halloween disguise (the one of the Orson’s nightmare) always available
