MENDOZA, Argentina (Mission #5) - Location Discussion

I bought a bottle myself for my second play through today. Take a sip every time Diana’s gaze lingers on 47 no matter what disguise he’s in

Has anyone figured out how to get the herald disguise (that isn’t one of those guys on the stairs who never move) and attend the meeting sitting down?

I accidentally knocked Diana out with a banana. Proper laugh out loud funny. When she woke up she said she didn’t feel too good. :joy::joy:

I’ve never been one one for the whole “shipping” thing but my GOD, between everything that happens in Mendoza: (The dance, saving Diana from Yates, 47 & Diana’s cutscene interactions, Diana’s commentary when you have Tamara sniped, and also her chiding when I accidentally killed Vargas in the freezer) and the fanfic you posted in another thread the other day (that turned into a rabbit hole lmaoooo,) I think I may well be a convert.

Haha well I was trying to knock Vidal out and Diana got there first. Wasn’t expecting it to work but was pleasantly surprised that it did.

So I’m no computer programmer guy, but I think the way they made Diana work is they simply blinded her. She will say interesting things when you do a story kill, but that’s scripted. She will run away from you if she hears gunfire. It has to be gunfire from your gun though. If you pull out a gun in her vicinity and the guards shoot at you, she stays on path, and if you point a gun at her she doesn’t seem to notice. She also stops when she hears you beat up someone but doesn’t get the ! over her head. Curiously, and this may be proof that I am wrong, she doesn’t really react to being shot either.

Also it’s worth knowing that in the directors commentary opening Io mentions thats 47 is not allowed to have allies in the game so they had to get creative to make Diana work. That’s what started me guessing.

But did she say it in her own voice, or did the concussion make her go American?

Her own voice! It was so good.

Got big James bond vibes from this one especially with the Diana intro and waltz, should be very interesting to see what IOI does with the 007 IP I could definitely see shades of it in this mission as well as Dubai.

This is the first level that really made me feel like it was the old series again.

My guess is that like the lack of Handler made it feel as lonely the way the old games did.

Don Yates is too easy target (especially for last sandbox mission)

I mean in 2-nd floor in villa. Just his wife and thats all.

Francesca de santis was much harder in similar situation.

You should add maybe 1 more guard to him, and something more to make kill him on second floor harder.

Tamara is perfectly balanced

If you will patch don yates, i will claim mendosa best mission in hitman series)

Did anyone else notice that at the end of the small cutscene where Diana and 47 talk on the Winery Viewpoint default/first-playthrough opening, as Diana places her gloved hand on 47’s hand and the cutscene ends, for a very brief moment as the game reverts to ‘play’ mode the screen shifts towards greyscale colours, like you get when 47 is taking damage and losing health?

Presumably a nice subtle hint at what will happen in the post-mission cut-scene?

Oh shoot, that could be! Very cool.

I initially chalked it up to 47 having a brief BSOD because Diana was touching him but then the cutscene happened :frowning:

yeah haha its intentional. Martin Ansdal (track owner of mendoza) confirmed it

Is that mentioned in Mattias’ DE commentary or did Martin say it himself somewhere? Just interested to know where you heard that. (But it’s cool that that is the case!)

Don’t have all these cacti around if I can’t just push someone into them like the pen kill in Landslide/The Author.

But seriously love this map.
