MENDOZA, Argentina (Mission #5) - Location Discussion

“We like to think that 47 is a man of such immense preparation that he has mastered every skill that might become useful for a hit,” Ansdal concludes. “Wine is a common hobby for the rich, and so it makes sense that 47 would have honed his degustation to perfection. Personally, I find it very funny to imagine [him] in a dark safehouse, surrounded by weapons and disguises, practicing taste notes for Malbec — just in case he needs it.”

God, I love this headcanon

That’s full on Word of God since it comes from the devs themselves. Amazing.

Found a couple interesting NPCs in Mendoza.

First up is
Tim Quinn, CEO of Quantum Leap. Unfortunately, they don’t use his likeness, instead they use a generic Mendoza looking male NPC.

Next one is Mikhail Kadir.
He’s the one the Constant speaks to on the phone in Sgail

Next up is Martin Ansdal, Mendoza level designer.

There are a couple more familiar names in Mendoza.
One being Ash Deveraux, who is presumably related to Simon Deveraux.

I think Mikhail’s portrait is up in the Bank as well.

i think their screen shots from mission briefing, or the images tooken from the pictures shown on mission storys

So uh, little bug, but when you throw vidal in the grape crusher, she just gets flinged over to the table with the radio on it, but strangely the tour guide doesnt seem bothered.

What Diana says to 47 when we lock Vidal and Gabriel Vargas in the cold room is very funny

“Yes ma’am. Sorry ma’am. Clearly I need to be punished. It’s the only way I’ll learn.”

I have barely played this mission because I’m trying to come up with favourite methods for the others first but am I right in thinking that the method where you kill Yates in the bedroom by shooting the light to kill his guard and then finishing him off after Diana stabs him fails Silent Assassin unless you do something like distract the guards involved or whatever using coins etc?

If so I might have to rethink whether Silent Assassin rating in all my runs bothers me or not because to be honest it seems like this method of killing him is quite ‘canon’ because 47’s black suit is right there in the bedroom where he can pick it up and he is wearing this suit in the ending cutscene of the mission Not to mention it is amazingly stylish.

Yeah Mendoza is very hard to get a steady 60fps in, even on my relatively good PC. Reminds me of Colorado where looking out from the house across the entire map caused the frameratd to tank.

I haven’t tried to see if I can use that kill method while also getting SA (but I’m sure with the right distractions/KOs those guards can be dealt with).

I do think this method is also considered Canon since as you said, the level cutscene features 47 in his signature suit, different from his starting tuxedo.
(Then again, a lot of other Hitman 3 cutscenes have 47 in his starting suit, despite not having access to it in the level earlier.)

I think tonight is the night I move onto Mendoza. I just don’t want to be that much closer to the end, as cheesy as that sounds.

It’ll be worth it

I’ll give it a try later on. Thanks Chicken. Ye there are a few mission stories/kill opportunities in this game that seem too cool not to follow such as this one, the one in Dubai where we let Grey speak to the partners, the double sniper kill in Chongqing (which is a tribute to several missions from the classic games in itself).

That’s true. For example after Berlin 47 is back in his signature suit after being in Grey’s clothes beforehand. He must sweat a lot so plans ahead by getting signature suits delivered to wherever he is going :joy:

Is this gun to pick up after assemble? I have subdue both guards afterwards, but they don’t have it on them either.
