New Elusive Target: THE SPLITTER (December 12th, 2024 - January 12th, 2025)

In regards to the third one, it could also be atom splitting. So they might be working on a weapon or energy source.

PS:
When referring to genes, isn’t it called splicing anyway? Or do both terms exist and describe different things?

Maybe it’s a meta reference that IOI planned in advance, knowing how split the community would be on who this celebrity ET is and what their name means.

Personally, I never used the word “splitting” for DNA .
Splicing describes the removal of introns after transcription. During my PhD on epigenetics, I’ve nerver heard or read the word “splitting” for that process.
The only time where I’ve read “split” in a scientific paper is when DNA samples were split for additional amplifications.

This seems the more plausible theory haha :joy:

Amplifications… Or maybe genetic manipulation to engineer… super soldiers? Yeah, let’s go with that.

What do you think the code name ‘Splitter’ most likely means or refers to?

  • A martial arts practitioner that killed one or more people that’s on the run from justice.
  • A scientist who splits the personality of his victims in order to trigger them to unwillingly commit crimes as a patsy to take the fall.
  • A scientist splitting atoms to make either weapons or an energy source.
  • A scientist working on genetic manipulation to engineer super soldiers.
  • It’s an inside joke for IOI regarding what the community thinks this target does and who they are.
  • Other (comment what you think it might be).

I absolutely believe you.

I’m still more for a split from the ICA/CICADA, at the head of a splinter group trying to recover information from the data center or the block.

Mostly because I hope for some lore. And I think a reworked of the ICA part of the map would be interesting to see/play.

I have no idea what The Splitter refers to but I just don’t think it’s anything that this community has come up with yet.

Sometimes the simplest solution is the best.

Well, if this is another Elusive Target set post Hitman III, like the Drop, a reworked ICA facility for the Splitter ET would be really cool to see

I’m wondering if they’ll have a follow up teaser… Maybe this week?

My guess is that it’s a Timesplitters reference, and instead of killing someone you have to beat the entire game on one of the arcade machines in Chongqing. That’d throw Hitman speedrunners for a loop.

You’re talking about the “Enter the Matrix” easter egg that was originally located in Chongqing’s arcade. It was cut and none of it was left in the game only some references to it in entities (and a challenge image retrived from a PS4 build of the game).

So they specified a new ET in 2024, there is only 4 weeks left of 2024, and we haven’t had a word since the one sentence and silhouette teaser picture they put out in mid October?

Wow such hype, I’m sure 50% of people who saw the announcement haven’t already forgot

In all fairness, currently we’ve had:

  • CelebrET announced and revealed in advance with the Drop. People complained that the hype had died down by the time it came out and said it was a bad idea to do it this way.
  • CelebrET announced in advance and revealed at release with the Disruptor and the Splitter. People complained that the dragging out was terrible.
  • No tease of the future content until a couple of weeks before. People complained that they had no visibility and the radio silence was terrible.

The way the Splitter, and November content in general, were announced are adapted to the community demands. We’ve had dates and a timetable. In generous advance. And a bit of a workable tease.

As for the rest (roadmap only if large event heading them, and actual reveal at release for marketing of pack and immediate playability), I suspect they are optimized for the general public.

No need to build much hype pre-release imo. Just enough to keep the regular fanbase interested and then for everyone else, let it naturally build when the content is actually out since it’ll be running for just over a month anyway.

Plus those drawn to the game for the first time because of the celebrity will be able to impulse buy the game to play it immediately, rather than have time to consider whether they actually want to buy the game.

This is the better move for the business imo.

Maybe he’s an assassin too and after his deed is done, he’s gotta split

Well The Disruptor re-run (originally) ended on December 8th (and was the final thing announced). So maybe expect something next week?

More 'SoonTM’s coming…?
