There’s also a gameplay video from IGN which contains spoilers for the mission.

Although the mission looks really cool with its map changes it seems like an incredibly poor design for being a “one chance, no saving, and if you die you have a permanent fail” Elusive Target. We’ll just have to see of course when the mission comes out.

I’m seriously impressed with the amount of content in this mission. This looks more like a special assignment than an elusive target to me. I might consider buying this pack just to replay it as much as possible.

Yeah, I’m definitely going to be playing this mission safe. Looking at the IGN video, looks like there’s a lot of preliminary setup that you may have to go through or it could be optional like the Sean Bean ET guide…

Interestingly, they have added on the blogpost that Free Starter Pack Players can restart the Elusive Target as many times as they like within the duration of the ET whereas WOA players like us do only get one chance?

It is likely that the free starter pack players will have access to the ET Arcade for the duration of the ET run but not the actual Elusive Target, wich is only available to WOA players. It was like that with the others CelebETs that had an ET Arcade

FSP (and actually all WoA) players have got the arcade mission for previous CelebrETs free for ~30 days, which does allow you to replay it freely (with the 12hr lock out for failing). I can’t see why they’d deviate from that.

@Combatglue can you confirm if this is the case?

Since he seems to be using guard AI and can wield guns I wonder if you can do the three shots lure on him lmao

Speculation:

The suit unlock for playing the ET will be a variant of the Clones outfit but numbered 47.

(wouldn’t say no to the chino-bomber jacket-foulard combo though)

Well, this is interesting. Not really sure who’s more high-profile: Sean Bean or Jean-Claude Van Damme, but he’s definitely the most famous in terms of name recognition, I think, of the ETs we’ve had. And although he’s had a few sexual assault accusations thrown his way over the years, they were all investigated and the charges dropped fairly quickly, so I doubt there’s any issue in that department. Some scandals here and there, but nothing you wouldn’t expect from most celebrities: drugs, infidelity, outbursts on set, nothing really horrifying, Dino Bosco stuff. Certainly never had Van Damme come to mind out of all the guesses, though.

As far as the lore of the ET, if this is a canon entry, it would have to be either before any other event in WoA aside from the initiation, or take place during the time of other pre-Shadow Client ETs, as well as the bonus missions and special assignments. It’s nice that the ICA data storage facility is being used again, and this mission seems to provide an explanation as to how a mere agent like 47 would know about its existence.

I will say though, IOI seems to be recycling quite a few elements with this target’s backstory though. A hitman who was one of the best ever until 47 came along? It’s a more personal mission because he eventually went rogue from his agency? He was thought killed long ago but he’s still alive despite another agent having been sent to deal with him? That’s Eric Soders, Joanne Bayswater, and Mark Faba all thrown into a blender! You’ve used this concept before, IOI, try something a little more refreshing next time.

That being said, I’m really looking forward to this one, certainly more so than The Drop or The Disruptor.

So you think it’s likely set either pre-Hitman 2016 or set between Hitman 2016 and early Hitman 2? It’s definitely quite an early period with 47 and Diana still working for the ICA.

On a separate subject, cool to hear new 47 voice lines in the IGN gameplay!

I’d say it’s set in the period of time that the bonus missions and special assignments are set, before the Showstopper, anywhere from 1-3 years prior.

Holy crap.

Spoilers from the IGN gameplay footage:

An ET with 14 targets… This is going to be a bit intense.

Wonder if there is a fail condition if you kill him before the clones are revealed…

This does, however, raise a few questions concerning the lore, if this ET is to be considered canon.

Now this, this makes me super happy. Jean Claude was before my time, the only thing I know him from is Kung Fu Panda 2 but this ET seems like it’s right up my alley. Taking one of my lesser favorite locations and adding good content to it with a unique cool mission idea? This is awesome! I also like that Hitman is now finally fully established itself that it can go back to the original lore and outright admit that 47 is a clone again. Love that

I’m going to guess seeing a clone will trigger the other objective to show up, or that a voice line will trigger after his death which says “hey 47 we just discovered Jean Claude Van Damme has freaking cloned himself”

Shame IO didn’t do some fuckery to stop the minimap spoiling the Clones reveal.

Pretty obvious something staged is about to happen with a bunch of NPCs not moving in the old Data Core area, while standing in a closeknit line.

Not to sound like a dick but not noticing those icons in the mini map I knew immediately something would be revealed behind the windows because of how the shot is framed during the meeting. It’s using visual language of having the background be just as prominent as the supposed subject, along with the fact the windows arent usually all black I dont think or if they are theyre known to be clear windows on the other side so the reveal to me seemed obvious and the obviousness seemed to be part of the buildup

Looks fab, but the outfit from the pack looks hideous
