Both appeared in Mortal Kombat like a year before Hitman as well. Another interesting coincidence is that MK is part of Warner Bros Games, like Hitman used to be.

It’s Pre-47’s initiation, though possibly not Pre-diana. It says so in the briefing =)
To be fair to IO here, this is a very common plot for spy assassination movies and the like. It was unoriginal in 2019 too, we were just blindsided by Sean Bean to care less.

How could it be before 47’s initiation if ICA is sending 47 after him now? That’s literally impossible, unless this is so non-canon that it’s an actual alternate universe.

I think you are talking about two different missions, Heisenberg is talking about the mission we are going to play as 47 hired to take down The Splitter, wich should take place somewhere between the iniciation and the Showstopper mission. Dribbleondo is talking about the first failed hit ICA tried on The Splitter, wich happened long before 47 joined the ICA.
