Nice to have The Undying permanently! But this pretty much kills my last bit of hope for substantial DLC (maps or major Freelancer update). Seems it’ll be reruns from here. There’s not even a new Game Update.
Perspective is key though… I am still grateful that the game is still being updated 3 years after launch.
The thing that freaks me out the most about it is that there was quite the bunch of hype for an old ET, seeing him again got me like: “bruh cmon him again?”
Sure, but, that’s their problem, not being able to read the contents of whatever they’re buying or just… not understanding basic definitions??
I get the frustration with all of IOI’s confusing and redundant re-bundling, time and time again of all their content – and the fact that it always seems to miss one or two things.
But… the “Deluxe” edition has been Deluxe for many years now, and for small extra stuff like the Cosmetic packs for Freelancer decorations, I think those are okay to leave out as bonus purchases… For now at least until end-of-life for WOA
Is anybody seeing anything that explains what the purple streak duck actually does? I don’t see in the description of how to get it about its function. I mean, sure it’s probably just another explosive, but wouldn’t it be nice to have a ducky that’s a taser, or an emetic cloud disperser, or a sedative cloud, or even lethal? A duck that’s more than an explosive or concussion device is what I’m hoping.
Well, it’s been years since he’s been playable and considered gone for good for a lot of that time, so for many players (me included) it’ll be the first opportunity to play him (excluding setting up Peacock I guess). I do however wish that any hypothetical future DLCs will be used to fund brand new content instead of renegotiating old deals.
The issue with doing that is that it’d make it different to all the other ducklings, and as much as I dislike reskins with the same effects; doing a reskin of a weapon for something limited time is probably not a bad idea, else you open yourself up to limited time items causing balance problems.

Nah, IOI has some fault here as well. Take HWOA Part One for example, on Steam it still says it includes ‘HITMAN 3’ in the package because IOI can’t be arsed to rename packages, or to somehow clarify that the H3 campaign is NOT included (or to remove the stupid package altogether). Many, many posts on the Steam Discussions were made, with lots of frustrated buyers calling Part One a scam.
At least hopefully in another year or so they’ll combine everything together again into some new edition of the game. I don’t think they’ll ever learn their lesson, and the same bs might happen again with the 007 game or their other projects.
"HITMAN World of Assassination Part One features: - 6 Iconic HITMAN locations: Paris, Sapienza, Marrakesh, Bangkok, Colorado and Hokkaido - HITMAN GOTY Edition content: Patient Zero Bonus campaign, 3 Themed Escalation Contracts with Outfits and Weapon rewards
This does not give access to the Freelancer and VR game modes. An option to upgrade to the full World of Assassination is available."
Note how they don’t mention that the campaign isn’t included, and a prospective newcomer to the series that has no idea about the locations of H3, might have a very unpleasant surprise when they boot up the game and it’s missing the campaign.
There’s also the Hitman 3 Deluxe Pack being separate from the Hitman 3 Deluxe edition.
To the unsavvy observer, they are identical in all but price. I commend IO for changing the thumbnail on the latter, but it doesn’t make it any less confusing.
IO absolutely have to take some blame for this. Not everything falls onto the shoulders of the customer because they can’t read. IO have made it very annoying to work out what you need; there’s a reason why so many people ask what to get on Discord!
I never played the Undying, so seeing him come back, even more under a permanent arcade in addition to the ET itself, is a treat.
(I wouldn’t have said no to the Solstice Suit, or Season 2 briefcase as an unlock via the ET though)
The Pack looks good, and is fair to sell when contrasted to all the free content regularly added.
The other item unlocks look fine. Nothing exciting, but nothing to turn you head away. I will enjoy unlocking them. Congratulations to @lukefsje for giving inspiration to some of them.
The rest of the year is kept under wrap, and I don’t know if this roadmap is standard, or a starting slow but steady one.
The reuse of the Arcade makes me hopeful. I still hope for marathon Arcade. Either all the Elusive Targets in a row. Or three Arcade, one for each season.
I’m not sure of what the actual Roadmap dates are though. The content is in March to April, but the FC run up to May, and the ET up to the start of June.
It’s also strange that the first four Elusive Targets currently running, and in queue have no communication around them.
Overall, this Roadmap looks absolutely awesome!!! At least this is going to keep us all heavily occupied for the next few months. It won’t be long before we’re all desperate to know what’s in the Summer roadmap
Also, I’m absolutely buzzing with this……
A set of cosmetics for the Freelancer Safehouse inspired by the iconic Elusive Target mission.
So glad we’re getting some Freelancer love!!! I hope there’s more Freelancer stuff coming this year!!
Looking good man, looking good! Btw, did IO not notice they have swapped names of challanges with their respective pictures?
Also, that blue egg may be a bit OP, considering how it is not illegal throwable item. I’ve always wanted chlorform, but this is very good replacement.
