It’s mixed mostly because of being downvoted by the hardcore fans. Game still has several problems and missing a few features from the OG trilogy but I wouldn’t try to compare it to mods such as Anomaly and Gamma like some people are. After the recent patches, I say it’s more or less on par with the old games.
Biggest problem I have with the game is that the spawn radius around the player is very small, ~100 meters which is very short so ofc there are no binoculars. Another feature missing are night visions so you’ll be stumbling a lot in the dark while trying to sneak by enemies since having the flashlight on gives away your position. Devs did say that they will add these items in future patches and will try to raise the spawning distance for NPCs without butchering the performance.
Other than that, the game is fine, on my 3rd playthrough right now

Hmm… I’ll consider then. For now I have a backlog of Talos Principle 2, Sniper Elite *5, Resident Evil 4, Deathloop, Metro: Exodus, so might leave it half a year

@EvilGeniusRo Sooo, I´ve decided it´s about time for me to finally revisit the Zone after more than a decade of absence, starting naturally with Shadow of Chernobyl. I´ve installed the game (GOG version) and will of course be applying ZRP, but after doing a quick check of how the game runs and looks (looks and runs well aside from full dynamic shadows being messed up, but apparently that´s fixable?), I realised I may not be all that happy with the almost omnipresent English voices.
The GOG version apparently allows for changing the all-around language of the game, but no different audio and text it seems (also weirdly, the GOG site states that Czech text is included, but I couldn´t figure out where and how to change to it if I wanted to). So I was wondering, is there a way to play the game with Russian (or Ukrainian) audio and English text/subs, while retaining ZRP functionality? 
I did a quick check online and there are some audio/subtitle mods, but I´m not sure how and if they jive with ZRP. Figured I might as well just ask you given your extensive experience with the trilogy

I think Czech text is available out of the box in the Def. Ed. and not the OG version of the game. Heck, the GOG page for the OG version doesn’t even exist anymore, only the page for the Def. Ed.
As for the shadows

Yup, that´s the fix I found. Hopefully it´ll work, I had to play with static shadows back in the day, and while it still looked fine, it would be nice to enjoy the games with some “next-gen” graphics
They don´t show up for you? I can view the pages for all three OG versions no problem.
I actually found the Czech localisation (which included dubbing in SoC and CS as well) for all three games on a domestic fan site, so I can install it if needed for the nostalgia. Thing is, while the text and dubs were perfectly fine (great even), I do remember there being some inconsistencies in translations across the three games (like Nimble I think had completely different names in all of them, so I didn´t even know it´s the same guy until I checked the Wiki or played in English).
But Czech SoC also had this quirky combo of story-related dialogues being voiced in Czech, while the ambient ones like Stalker convos or the Duty recruitment speech from the video being in Russian, and I remember missing that one specifically when I played it later in English
My main question is really whether a combo of Russian audio and English text (and subs, cause I don´t trust myself in understanding the story convos) is possible (while using ZRP)

There’s a mod that adds subs to the game but it conflicts with ZRP so you’re out of luck

Guess I´ll have to stick to English then, or just go for the Czech version. Can´t really play without ZRP…

Neither can I but for the past few years I ditched the ZRP for this since it has even way more fixes
I’d recommend it to everyone but it’s a bit of a pain to install over non RU versions of SoC so stick with ZRP if you don’t want the headache

Interesting… Wasn´t aware of this one For now I´ll just stick to ZRP for the current replay, but I´ll keep it in mind for the future. Do you know if this one is compatible with the subtitle mod?
