No. The purpose of a Safe House is to be safe. But I have zero interest in derailing this thread arguing semantics with you.
Or all of his surviving “friends.” Diana, Victoria, Father Vittorio, Smith, Mei Ling, Birdie, Tom the Taylor, maybe even Arthur Edwards asking who everyone is.
No two-story mini-mansion with a dock and a helicopter and enough glass to reflect a light from a laser pen into space is going to stay hidden and safe for long in any world, no matter how much grass you put on the roof or how much you paint the satellite dish with a crappy camouflage pattern.
So anyway, my favorite part of the safehouse is how 47 is doing something different every time I load into the game. He’s been fishing, cleaning the garage, and admiring his trophies on the second floor. It’s great how he’s just living his best life when I’m not playing the game.
Seeing how confined the safehouse is compared to the land around it, and how the AI pathfinding would have to account for all the furniture/decoration configurations, I don’t see a defend the safehouse situation happening.
Also, yeah, it would just be house at that point.
It already is just house. A safehouse is where you lie low; you don’t go outside, you don’t use communications technology, nobody is even supposed to know that the place is there or being used, you just hunker down for a while until the heat lets up on you and then you return to your regular residence. 47 is not only actually living in the safehouse permanently, but vegetation on the roof aside, the entire property just screams “somebody rich and important lives here, please investigate/trespass/invade immediately!” Not to mention anyone with thermal or sonic tech would be able to see the energy signature and the structure of the huge bunker built under the huge house that someone obviously lives in.
Honestly, the fact that it’s surrounded by trees instead of open beach and the fact that 47 took about five minutes to roll some grass on top is really the only things keeping it from being as ostentatious and conspicuous as Alma Reynard’s “safehouse.”
I still say a mission could take place there, but not some John Wick-style invasion from a strike team; rather, a single intruder, a fellow assassin trying to stalk 47 around his own property. Hell, if IOI were willing to renegotiate with Sean Bean, they could not only bring back the two Undying ETs, but the intruder could be Mark Faba, surviving to come back one more time to get 47, and this time, success means 47 finally kills him for good.
One way they could make the safehouse get invaded by enemies without ruining its “safeness” is have an invasion be a VR simulation 47 is going through to prepare in case it ever was attacked for real. Kinda like how in Arkham City there’s challenge maps where you take out thugs in the Batcave and Wayne Manor which are just simulations.
I don’t think the layout of the safehouse is ideal for a home defense scenario, but I do think it would be cool to have a place where you can use your massive weapon collection to let out your wrath against large amounts of enemies.
He could have a hallucination or a dream. Eaten too many of those mushrooms in his backyard.
His 7ds invade his house, or the ghosts of previous targets. But eh, the more I think about that the more I hate the idea.
Rival assassin’s is probably the best idea so far. Regardless if his house should be completely hidden canonically. I’m willing to suspend disbelief in favour of fun
I second this. The safehouse must remain safe. There is enough activity with the Freelancer missions during the campaign, that having a resting location is a plus! It makes a welcome break between missions.
Since I’m going to have to take a hiatus from FL (due to an untrustworthy controller) almost everything is going to have to be ‘spoiler’ material for me. I’m still around Level… ~8(?) I think. Guess I’ll play around with… (other games) in the meantime.
Do you mean you play with a console controller on PC?
Could also look at it from a different perspective: If the leader gets warned/compromised whatever by your actions in an alerted territory lead-up mission, instead of failing the campaign, the leader would go to a safehouse similar to 47s.
And trying to kill the leader there would be even a lot harder than your standard hardcore campaign.
I would prefer that over 47s hideout being invaded. The game is at its best when 47 does the invading, and at it worst when its the other way around (last mission in H2SA, the wrath dlc or whichever it was, just trash gameplay).
My weapon of choice.
But (I’m guessing) after using it SO much, the top left button is hard to keep pressed down. I did change my settings in Hitman to (Press once to Run), but 47 still walks in short spurts… So that leads me to think there’s also a problem with my Left analog stick. The Right analog stick tends to act like I’m barely pressing up.
I have another (same brand) controller, but it has a different issue… I could probably use that, but I think I’ll try to make one with this…
With THAT (and using mostly small micro switches), if anything starts to go wonky - I can just replace the switch… Or recast the buttons (in resin). I still have some details to work out on it, but by God, I’ll get it made!
Edit: With ^that - the only thing I won’t have are analog triggers… But it’s possible there might be a way around that.
Anyone else supervised the safe house outer glass doesn’t go full tint? There is so much of it it would be pretty easy to ascertain that 47 has a secret lair under his house.
I do too. I stopped playing games with a keyboard over decade ago.
I see. I am using the regular PS4 controller and it works fine via USB, but it’s kinda expensive hope you will find a new one! I am not very good with using keyboard and mouse either with such games, that’s why I always use a controller
You mean the Miami intro/Kronstadt track, which is easily the best in the trilogy.
Thanks, everyone, for your contributions! Considering the arguments, I agree that a safe house raid system would be undoable. I appreciate the feedback. I have to say that I loved Frote7’s idea of a leader safehouse.
It would be nice if some of the player’s action had more consequences. I second the idea of a leader’s safe house, but how about assassins appearing on regular freelancer missions as a consequence?
I agree, we don’t want the Safehouse being taken over by remnants of the ICA or Providence etc.
I know Freelancer is kind of showing 47’s post Hitman III activity, therefore, I’m hoping 47 continues to keep the Safehouse leading into the next game! Everyone seems to love it and it’s too much of a cool setting to leave behind.
Anyone else feel 47’s safehouse is too neat and that it’s not indicative of his chronic hoarding habits from the numerous individual reskins we all have in our Career Inventory?
