Things About Hitman You Just Found Out

This was so obvious but my dumbass just realized after half a year later that all ET’s in the Authoritarians ETA are connected together like a mini story.

All targets have/had power or control in something (no duh), but the stories in their mission line up together.

The Warlord was planning to meet with the Ex-Dictator in order to secure an alliance but was assassinated before doing so, then the Ex Dictator was later assassinated along side his wife in the exact same hotel during a meeting. Later on, the Bookkeeper who had bookkept Richard’s finances was assassinated later in Colorado.

Yes, that’s right.

When I was watching Indy 5, I knew that I knew him from somewhere, and looking through his IMDB he was in the 5th Element, so that’s definitely it.

Shame that imo they all sucked, and was a nightmare to complete

if the light shines on it right, you can see a frog in the impact emetic grenade.

Also, model used for that item is recycled from Absolution, where it served as U’wa Tribe Poision in Blackwater park mission.

Pretty cool re-use tho.

Ooh! That establishes it as a Hitman holy relic. :astonished:

I was wondering where in Absolution that could have originated from, still not sure how it ended up presumably in the museum-y bit of Blackwater Park though  Thanks for the explanation!!

Here’s another thing in BP. If you turn on radio in Lenny’s room, you’ll hear weather report. At its end, the weathergirl will introduce herself as Natalie Griffiths, an actual name of weathergirls voice actress. So in this universe, either someone has same name as original VA, or original VA works as weathergirl for radio.

Enemy Within and Damnation have been removed from Apple Books. The reason seems unknown.

Probably because not enough people wanted to read them. WoA makes Enemy Within non-canon anyway, and Damnation was never a canon story despite what its marketing claimed in order to gin up sales and get people excited for Absolution. So with two books that belong to an only average size fandom niche, and not even legitimate chapters in the story that fandom follows anyway, it’s not surprising that they wouldn’t get much traffic.

Speaking of the lore-building stuff, the Overachievers mini-story they put up on the old website in 2017 got deleted when they updated the site too. :frowning:

@Travis_IOI Any chance of getting this restored on the new website since it fit within the WoA universe?

I don’t think keeping them up for sale would have been such a huge deal that they would have had to pull them down just because the interests were low. They are not like some games where you need constant maintenance; they are just text files.

Besides, Damnation is still available on other services such as Amazon Kindle and Google Play Books. Enemy Within is not, but it may have always been that way.

May I ask, why are both books non-canon? Is that official?

I have read them years ago, and I remember especially Enemy within as very bad :see_no_evil:

No, it’s not official, but that means nothing. Many aspects of various fandoms are deemed canon by the producers in order to market them to fans, even when fans know better by just looking at them.

In the case of these two books, Damnation is stated as canonically taking place the year before Absolution, but any Hitman fan can tell you that cannot be. 47 behaves in ways he never would, does things he would never do, experiences feelings and had shows of weakness that he’s not capable of even now at the end of WoA. In addition, nothing that takes place in that novel is mentioned or brought up again, anywhere, ever, and none of its events impact the story of Absolution or beyond, aside from showing how 47 knew Travis and Jade, and showing Diana going missing while doing… something. We later learn that was taking Victoria from Travis’s custody, but nothing about it is mentioned in the story or the game, so it’s meaningless. Damnation was billed as a canon story for marketing, nothing more. Not only can its events be ignored, they make no sense and are absolutely not how 47 would act or behave at all. Timothy Olyphant’s 47 was closer to the real thing that what’s found in that book.

Enemy Within, on the other hand, is a whole other matter. It’s actually written like someone who played and paid attention to the games, its events don’t tie into later games but are basically meant to take place between H2:SA and Contracts. The reason why it is no longer canon is because of the WoA trilogy, although it was considered a canon entry prior to that. Lucas Grey’s existence makes an important backstory in the novel non-canon, written off now as Ort-Meyer implanting false memories, because it shows 47’s first kill as garroting number 6 when they were still kids. In addition to that, it is explicitly stated, clearly and with no room for reinterpretation of its meaning, that 47 had never seen Diana before, and imagined what she looked like. Diana herself was described from the point of view of another character in the book as being fairly dark-skinned from regular tanning, with lines on her hips indicating she prefers thongs. Not only do we learn in Blood Money, before the book was even written, and then later in Absolution, that Diana does not fit such a description, but WoA obviously has 47 meeting Diana face to face on his first day at the Agency, and so the book’s portrayal of him having never met her before is now impossible. As a result, this book can no longer fit into canon continuity.

I see, thank you for this detailed explanation @Heisenberg :two_hearts:

I remember that 47 had a girlfriend in Damnation and you are right, something like that doesn’t make sense with everything we know now with what happened in the WoA trilogy (and it was out of character back than already :see_no_evil:).

Damnation was meh, but I genuinely enjoyed Enemy Within.

In case anyone missed out on Overachievers while it was on the website, I have a copy in my Dropbox. Really hoping they put it up again, Overachievers is great and everyone should read it!

I liked it until it implied that Soders killed the real Jasper Knight with the ejector seat. I don’t like that; it takes away from the idea that 47 was so impressive with his simulated test in creating such an accident and actually killing the test actor, that even Soders had no choice but to hire him. Soders, being an old school hitman and even just going off of his words in this story, it would make more sense that he snuck onto the airfield by pure stealth, and used either a silenced pistol or fiber wire to kill Knight. Soders figuring out how to rig the ejector seat, get Knight to trigger it, and then 47 copying it exactly 20 years later takes away from that as an achievement. So I’m fine if Overachievers is down; if it’s suggesting that Soders did it before 47 did, that’s a story that can stay lost.

This isn’t something I’ve found out, but something I’ve thought of before, and watching a vid in the ET; The Appraiser topic… I’m going to make this post.

Throwing a propane tank at a camera. Why doesn’t it explode? It will start to leak after you throw it, and a camera being destroyed throws off sparks.

I know they very likely prevented that from happening, but it does make sense. You can hack a keycard slot which throws off sparks, and that can ignite leaking PTs if it’s next to you. It can even electrocute 47 if he’s in a puddle, but that’s besides the point.

Anyway, I think that’d be hilarious if they did explode.

I guess it somewhat makes sense. In real life if a propane tank were to start leaking, the chances of the minimal amount of gas in the air milliseconds after impact making contact with a spark caused by the impact is going to be extremely small.

It seems there is some of this logic applied to the game - since if you throw a propane at an already activated taser, it doesn’t insta-explode. It takes about a second before enough virtual gas has leaked out and its able to explode.

If you pacify figher what must fight with Sanchez, and take his disguise, and use first exit, Sanchez will do it nothing on arena in Part 2
