There’s a second hidden pistol in Paris. On the opposite side of the building from where the empty briefcase and spare coins are, in the bedroom where the Shiek is staying, there’s a pistol tucked under the pillow on the bed. This is the second hidden pistol that’s just lying around, with the first being under the sofa near the stairs where you get frisked to go up to the auction. I never found it before, because I don’t think I ever even went into that bedroom before Freelancer; my very first mission ever in Freelancer had the target and a courier in that room and that’s when I realized that room was even there. Even then, I only went in to deal with them, I didn’t really take the time to look around.
The other day, by chance, I walked close to the right side of the bed in that last room and found the prompt to pick up the pistol. This was in Freelancer, where most of the weapons lying around are not present, including the one under the couch. So this means that there is a weapon that you can pick up and can be used to distract a guard if you’re trying to avoid KOs. And it’s near the same place where you can get extra coins and a briefcase, so this part of the building is where you want to go for distractions.

It’s also worth noting that FAMAS is an acronym for “Fusil d’Assault / Manufacture d’Armes de Saint-Etienne”, so it even has “Fusil” in its name.

I’m posting this here since I felt the place I was going to originally would’ve been off topic.
Regarding the roof by the water tower in Colorado.
The 2 guards on the roof have a routine (probably some of it triggered by player proximity, like the guy spotting the creature in his binoculars) that can help the player navigate to and access the ladder. There’s also another guard (from the coms area) on the ground that looks upward toward the tower. Once you’ve gone up and down the ladder in a hostile disguise multiple times (such as when you’re working on a contract) you can kinda get a good idea of their pattern or what they’ll do next depending on where they are.
When going up and the 2 guards are still up there - don’t use the stairs. Well, you probably could, but it’s better to climb the shorter part of the building near the SUV, and then climb again to the top part… That is if the coast is clear.

I didn’t even know it existed until, like, a week ago. There really hasn’t been much reason to go into that room until Freelancer. Like I said, I didn’t even really remember there was a room there until Freelancer, almost 7 years later.

Re: Paris, the Sheik’s suite, and his gun.
I’m going to bet that Heisy hasn’t played a lot of nor tinkered with making contracts. Well, that was the first time I came across that gun. Otherwise, there’s hardly any reason to go there in the main/normal mission.

I have, just not in Paris. When I play contracts, I like to go for the high profile NPCs. In the case of Paris, that’s really just the Shiek, Helmut Kruger, Sabastian Sato, and Decker. No reason going after any of those to take me into that room.

How is that silly? A) you wait for him to come to you, because he’s going to walk down that hallway toward the stairs, throw a coin into the side room under a chandelier and drop it when he’s under it, or B) enter his bathroom, lure him in with the radio when he’s close enough to it, then pop him. No reason to ever go into his actual bedroom, and if you’re trying to do it stealthily, he’ll never be in there by the time you get to him.

And then I pointed out why going into the Sheik’s bedroom (that’s important, the bedroom specifically, not the overall suite) is silly, because he doesn’t stay in that area and unless you just run straight to him, security be damned, you’ll never get to him while he’s in there.

Shiek and Destroy would be a little less cumbersome. Shiek being a stand-in for seek, and seek and search are synonymous, so no real need to add that and it takes away from the pun.
