Personally I hate this kind of backpedaling, I think it gives of the impression that you are somewhat unable to stand by your products due a mixed reception and makes IO look weak. Own your mistakes, don’t try to sweep them under the rug.
Absolution is canon, it’s just not connected to overarching Providence story that now goes back to C47. Diana talking about parallel universes seems more like an Easter egg, her being “serious” about this would make her look like a crackpot.
Also if it was a parallel universe, how did Tamara know about it. It makes no sense, plus the legacy trailer serves as a recap of 47 hits and features Don Osmond from Absolution.
I’m also not a fan of undoing what has already been done. There were some pretty far fetched things in Absolution, but it’s a video game series and you don’t have to take every detail too seriously. I say roll with it and keep moving full steam ahead. No need to shred the pages.
Hell, I loved the new Star Wars films, but sometimes I forget Jacen and Jaina aren’t really people anymore.
Ah then I misunderstood the context of your post. Either way IO should stand by Absolution, warts and all.
I never saw the Expanded Universe (now Legends) as canon, since Mr. Lucas never did himself, also it featured a lot of rubbish like Luke’s evil clone “Luuke”, space rabbit Jaxxon and Chewbaca getting crushed by a moon. But this is a hole other debate and best saved for the Star Wars thread.
I was playing Paris and I found this detail out. I was at the pavilion where the guards are patrolling. I pushed one of the guards into the Seine river when the other one was distracted and he actually reacted to his partner disappearing. He said, “Hello?”
I’ve tried dropping it, but the NPCs get all confused and chastise me for dropping it on the floor. I don’t think I’ve tried placing it, but I was certain that NPCs react in the same way to placed items… Maybe I’m wrong?
Eh, I can read that as them saying Absolution was a ‘soft-reboot’ much like WoA. In the sense that Abs didn’t mention many (if any?) events of previous games and had a significantly different tone and gameplay to them. So I can understand them answering a question that is essentially “is this a Blood Money sequel?” with a less that straightforward answer. They don’t want to give people the wrong impression of what the final product will be. It more uses the structure of the world (ICA, Diana, 47) than it does continue the story like previous games had (there’s a clear strong story link between all C47 through to BM)
So I don’t think there’s any ground to say Absolution isn’t canon. Despite how much some people want to think it is
I just replayed H2SA for the second time ever and got SA on all levels but on the easiest difficulty
So I learned quite a few things that a lot of you might already know, but imo still worth sharing anyway Enjoy!
Ballers misconception
It’s common knowledge that AMT Hardballer is a real firearm that was present in C47, its heavily modified fictional variation named Silverballer was introduced in Contracts and became 47’s signature weapon, and in H2SA, there are guns called Ballers - kind of halfway between Hardballer and Silverballer… Well, not really. Baller is just short for Silverballer and the full name can be seen in the inventory description.
In C47, you could dual wield pretty much any handguns. In H2SA and since only Silverballers are dual-wieldable.
At least it was intended. As I found out, you can still dual wield a combination of any two handguns, just like in C47.
To do this, you need two handguns and a pair of Ballers; drop the Ballers, unholster or pick up Gun №1, pick up the Ballers (Gun №1 will slide into the left hand, similarly to large weapons), then pick up or unholster Gun №2. Done! You will shoot with both guns, but sometimes (when you’re out of ammo, I think?) the second gun wouldn’t. The fun thing is - unlike Ballers, you don’t have to reload, the magazine ammo will be replenished instantaneously.
