Silo Episode 9
Was glamorous yet misleading according to the books. I love the way they’ve taken to keep that “holy motherfuck” moment for the very last second of this season.

It’s imperfect, but I loved season 2. I don’t know why people would be expecting a bunch of answers. It’s meant to be a five season show. The weird thing is that season 2 did resolve at least a couple of things that I think a lot of shows would have dragged on a lot longer and they did it in really memorable ways.
And Elijah Wood is terrific.
Trailer for the new season of Futurama. Looks topical with an episode about COVID and one about cryptocurrency it seems. Shame I don’t believe Hulu is available in the UK though.
Aren’t Hulu shows usually on Disney+ outside of the US?
Maybe? I had to Google it to be honest, Radio Times says that alot of Hulu content winds up on the “Star” section of Disney+ but alot of it doesn’t. So no idea if Futurama will get on there or not.
Yeah, its kind of a case-by-case basis.
Pretty sure for us in Canada we get a lot of Hulu releases on Disney Plus simultaneously, but others just… don’t, until many months after the season has closed. Or not at all.
Hulu’s Animaniacs reboot never came to Disney Plus. Only seems to be available as a premium add-on for Amazon Prime or a solo purchase on Youtube or Google Video.
We already have all the “classic/OG reboot” Futurama episodes on D+ over here, plus I’m pretty sure they were experimenting with simultaneously releasing new Simpsons episodes after they aired on TV recently, so I think we might be getting Hulu’s Futurama too!
People always seem to decry “topical” episodes in comedies like this, but every old series usually does this, and it’s either decent, confusing or forgotten.
Been rewatching old Futurama and they had some old topical stuff that either holds up as a cool antique, still-relevant problem, or before-my-time.
The penguin oil-spill episode, Bender being a “broken robots” advocate alongside singer “Beck”?, the Lucy Liu piracy episode, any appearance of the Harlem Globetrotters (had no idea they were some “entertainment/theatrical b-ball team” of olden days)
I’ve been watching Futurama this past couple of days to refresh myself for the next episodes on Disney +, in the UK
I find that re-watching episodes of shows like that where a topical issue was addressed plays different if you remember the thing that the show was about. I know exactly who Beck, Lucy Liu and the Globetrotters are/were so those topics would still resonate for me, but if anyone was either not alive yet when those were issues or just doesn’t remember them because those things didn’t touch their lives would likely have a different response.
The new Futurama might be available in international markets through Disney Plus.
I’ve just noticed that the original series now has a “Star Original” (Hulu/20th/FX catch-all) branding on its card, which should mean the new Hulu seasons get branded as Star content once it’s out.
Saw the first two episodes of the new My Adventures with Superman from WB Animation/Adult Swim.
It’s a very fun show, not at all adult like what you’d expect from AS. Clark and Lois are big dorks about news and secretly for each other. Jimmy Olsen is a fun guy with a silly love for wild conspiracies.
The show is very anime-styled, which I think helps a lot since characters can do some very funny snap-reactions to things.
Clark/Supes is super adorable omg.
And while this is also another Superman origin story, in that he’s only just starting to save people as an adult, while learning about his mysterious past, it’s a great upbeat change of pace from the moody “fallen god” angle a lot of mainstream DC has been pushing.
He’s just a guy who wants to live a normal life, help people, and be a good dude.
Adult Swim uploaded the first episode for free on their Youtube channel, although I’m not sure what regions it is available in. I’m in the UK and it worked for me. I thought it was a lot of fun.
They don’t wanna get maple syrup on their video it seems…
Saw the Barry finale with my Dad finally.
What the FUCK??!
Wild rollercoaster of an ending. It did a lot of things I didn’t expect and a couple that I’m glad I did.
All in all, it was an ending that was equal parts scary and darkly funny, everything this show does great.
My dad and I agreed that we didn’t totally like where this season went – it took some major risks changing core elements of the series – but it’s still an enjoyable nail-biting watch.
personally the timeskip was pretty jarring for some characters, and the season overall strayed even further from the acting/assassin clash that I enjoyed so much, but I still liked it and the occasional hollywood lampoon
SAG-AFTRA is on strike for the first time since 1980. It’s also the first time since 1960 that both actors and writers are on strike at the same time. (The directors, of course, have no spine. )
I have been watching “Hack my Home” on Netflix and they keep misusing the word “hack”. Building a custom dining room table that seats 8 and folds out from the kitchen island is not a “hack”.
I’ve been enjoying the Star Wars series on Disney + like Obi Wan, Andor, Mandalorian, and Boba. I’m excited for the new Ahsoka series coming out next month.
Well, The Blacklist aired its finale and… I’m disappointed. Not at the fates of the characters; I’m ok with who died, who lived, and what is likely going to happen next for all of them. I’m disappointed that some past faces couldn’t make a cameo in the finale, to say goodbye after years of presence on the show. And I’m disappointed that, like I suspected all along would happen, the show ended without answering several questions they were never answered.
What happened to all the remaining members of the Cabal?
What became of Mathias Solomon?
What did Reddington whisper to Alexander Kirk to make him give up his revenge?
What secret did Elizabeth find out about Reddington that the memory doctor had to wipe it from her mind?
And most of all: who is Raymond Reddington, really?
And while all those others up there are long past the time when any answer would mean anything, that last one has been the running question for the entire series, and while false answers were given here and there that made us think it had finally been solved, new info would invariably come along and throw the certainty out the window. I know enough info had been given over the last four seasons to let the viewers reach their own conclusions and most are probably right about the prevailing theory, but I hate it when a series ends without answering its central question and giving you some BS about not needing to know the answer because the journey was what mattered. Fuck that. Once a story reached its end, there is no reason to hold the secret anymore. There is no reason for Lost to have not revealed the truth about the island; there is no reason for Robert Kirkman to not tell the fans at this point what caused the outbreak in The Walking Dead; Phantasm: Ravager should have given us the the origin or nature of The Tall Man.
We know it can be done; The X-Files had enough sense to give enough reveals at the end of its original finale to be satisfying enough for the myth-arc questions; the maker of The Sopranos at least explained what the ending meant afterward; Breaking Bad ended the best way it could have and any lingering questions were answered in its sequel movie and prequel series; Dexter didn’t even have any questions left by the time it got to its final season, both the first time and second time; and so on.
We should have finally learned here who Reddington was and why all of this mattered. I consider it a finale half-wasted.
One of our pet peeves of Yellowjackets season 1 was that each episode started with the most bland font for “Showtime presents…”
We started season 2 recently and were happy to see it starts with a fancy logo they’re using. Cool, keeping up appearances for this ‘prestige drama’ TV
…but not two minutes later there’s that same bland “Showtime presents…” font.
Why…
story spoiler:
also personally I’m very glad to see that Ella Purnell is still gonna be somewhat in this season, I really like that actress. I was devastated they’d killed her off in the last one.
Invincible Season 2 is out November 3rd!!
Whole lot of new actors joining this season, cool to see this teaser isn’t revealing much of the show.
Also an Atom Eve special episode is out now, showing her origin story, I guess!
Hulu’s Futurama Revival starts today!
Seems the season will be released weekly, which is probably good for PR and discussion longevity, but I feel slightly goes against the premiere’s central joke.
Fry mentions that people should binge no more (and no less) than 10 episodes of a show at a time – something that just isn’t possible yet for this batch.
It was a pretty good very self-aware premiere.
Continues off of the original’s-reboot’s series finale.
Plenty of jokes about how series that get canceled and revived 4 times should just die, and some funny stuff about the horrendous pitfalls of mass-produced, low-budgeted (sometimes highly-beloved) streaming series. (The Writers’ Room joke could not have come at a better/worse time omg)
Also the 5-seconds of the TV Guide scrolling was a good joke – Alien vs. Predator vs. Bluey would be very interesting
The voice actors are considerably older & changed from the previous seasons. Hermes is way deeper-voiced than usual. The Professor sounds a lot raspy than normal. Scruffy kinda lost that back-of-throat grumble…
Just some interesting differences this new revival will have to live with…
Anyway, it was fun overall, and I’ll gladly see what else the season has to offer.
At least this weekly release gives me more time to catch up. I’m on Season 5 now, just before the Jurassic Bark episode
