I’ve had this fucking song stuck in my head ever since you first brought it up… but also, whenever I hear it in a store now, I think about playing Hitman… I guess what I’m saying is life’s too short to debate the lasting relevance of fading colonial superpowers…
Life’s too short for anything; that’s why in its sum total, it sucks. But that’s an older topic that I don’t wish to revisit right now. Ditto on the song being stuck in a loop in my head too, but that’s mainly because it plays everywhere I go. And I could have told them, I could have told them…
Well, again, it’s not because of that specific example in and of itself, which is a fallacy to try to dismiss the point by focusing on that. As stated, it’s the wider pattern of historically questionable opinions that throws the matter into a state of needing examination. It’s not to say Last Christmas isn’t a Christmas song because British people have dumb opinions, it’s just to say, don’t take the fact that they’ve concluded it’s a Christmas song to be the reason that it is. Take a closer look and consider the source.
It doesn’t matter how far I’m reaching, all that matters is that I’ve grabbed what I reached for.
Not quite, because those things are proven by facts, while a song is a form of art, and one of the primary aspects of art is about interpretation. Great use of a false equivalency fallacy, though. Also great way to say I’m completely wrong without backing it up with a reason that I haven’t already been able to argue against in the last round this thread had on that discussion. It really settles the matter.
I know it was settled ages ago; not one argument was put forth that I wasn’t able to point out the flaw in, so it was settle with my original post. You might think you’re having fun at my expense, but I’m just sitting back and waiting to see how long we’ll go in this circle before everyone gives up or someone actually puts forth something I don’t have an answer to.
And I already found my someone special 17 years ago and we don’t really celebrate anything at Christmas, but all things aside, I do genuinely appreciate the sentiment. I’ve been in such a dark state of mind lately, this place is one of my few beacons of light, and nonsense arguments like this actually get my mind working constructively.
I don’t think you quite understand what kind of door you just knocked on, but here we go…

Seriously?
I summon thee, @Screaming_Meat !!
Also, if I were to jump in this discussion (which I won’t, since I have no desire to talk about SW), I’d say the whole movie franchise sucks. Aside from Rogue One. Rogue One was good.
Nope, just a sense of taste for movies. And in my experience, people give more hate to the prequels than they deserve, and far more love for the original trilogy than it deserves. The two are closer together in quality than the usual maniac fans will admit. To borrow a phrase from George Carlin, P. T. Barnum might think they’re special, but not me, I have standards. As for the sequels, well, that was doomed to failure from the first day at the drawing board.
I know it’s just after Christmas but…
Want to hear a weird one? I can’t tell if Edward Scissorhands is a Christmas movie or not. I’m leaning slightly more toward yes, but a decent case can be made for no. I’m stuck on this one.
It’s not a Christmas movie per se, but it’s perfectly acceptable to watch at Christmastime as it features:
- Vibes, including snow.
- A terrible creator (the inventor).
- A message of love and grace and acceptance.
This is the part that keeps it from being a no, but I’m not sure is enough for a definite yes. The bulk of movie itself is not about Christmas, doesn’t take place solely during Christmas, and could take place at any other time of year and still get the same message across, and the same events would occur. But, the bulk of the movie is being told to explain why it snows at Christmas in the town it takes place in, so at the very beginning and ending, it directly relates Christmas and it’s the whole reason the rest of the story was told. Thats why I’m thinking slightly more toward yes, but is it enough, eh, I can’t quite decide.
I think you’ve proven the argument. It’s a Christmas movie!
The fetish nuns from Absolution should of been in the ICA facility as the tier 2 guards, and 47 can still steal their disguise and dress up as them. In fact, the World of Assassination should have far more cross dressing opportunities for 47. If I had to choose the next outfit unlock for World of Assassination, it would be a nice frilly French maid outfit for 47.
Are you crazy? Sexy women are a no no in video-games
I agree.
