As expected, has a very RDR-ish feel to it. Looking forward to some gameplay showcase.
Okay! SO! Game Awards!
Overall that was a pretty good Game Awards. Better than last year for sure. Pretty sure we had a returning category to the stage which was Best Music/Score. Iām sure it was a Speedrun Award in previous years⦠(and it lead to an awkward but cute moment IMO of the composer either not having prepared a speech, or completely forgetting it due to award shock. Lots of pauses (even after a translator) trying to come up with the words to say thanks heheh)
Also yeah that Sam Lake internal monologue moment was perfect cheesy. God I love that man. So quirky, so himself.
I usually really like the Muppets appearances and this one was the BEST. The Roast of Geoff Keighley with Stadler and Waldorf. Letās gooooo. Please Wrap It Up!
Multiple appearances too which is cool!
About Naughty Dogās sci-fi game:
Welp, itās not Savage Starlight like I thought, butā¦
like, the retro futurism style looks cool. All the branding is WEIRD but I guess trying to be corpo-dystopian in a way. (But cmon doesnāt Sony have the money likeeee)
But ehh, I guess itās still mid-development so we wonāt see the actual game for another year or two.
TELLTALE GAMES! KINDA!
Lmao itās wild, it looks great, and Iām having an existential crisis.
- Ex-telltale devs who made Wolf Among Us, makes their own studio, and now reveals their new IP of a choice-based, strategy game(?) hybrid? Coming next year.
- āReal Telltale 2024ā is⦠still working on Wolf 2? Maybe? Is AdHoc not collabing with them anymore? Is it dead? Are THEY dead? Uhhhhhh lmao probably goddamnit
(They should not have partnered with Deck Nine and made The fucking Expanse as their first title. It was a mess. It was a bad look. They had layoffs.)
Oh! And IDK why but it felt like Geoff wanted to cry a few times in the show. Like, wow??? Heās legit passionate about this industry and the privilege he has to present and reveal these highly anticipated games that mean a lot to people. I think.
Despite all the sponsors and ads and speedrun awards and all that ā the show DOES need to pay for itself somehow⦠But honestly it also needs to pay for sidelining devs spotlight and key awards lately too. ugh.
But BEST INDIE??? AS A SPEEDRUN AWARD??? WTFFF?! Geoff that is incredibly insulting to the passion and perspective of the industry and whatās going on. This is a studioās first title. Their breakout hit. And a jury of peers in their industry select THEM to be celebrated! Thatās really cool!
Like, man, I think it was really good that Geoff finally spoke out about the layoffs in the industry and took time away from the āreal ad-showā to address the crisis and also literally give an award to someone whoās been helping and re-hiring devs after theyāve been laid off.
But⦠gosh, the show still feels like a tsunami of ads and sponsors and trailers, the smaller of which will go completely forgotten after the 3-hour show is done. I know thereās a few clips I remember, but completely forget what their names are and who made them until I just look up a list of everything from the show itself.
I AM very happy that ASTRO BOT SWEEEEEEPPPP
Okay, maybe not sweep, but it DID win GOTY!! YAY!
And apparently Team Asobi is only like 65 People? Thatās pretty damn tiny for games companies, especially one funded first-party by Sony.
Iām sure this means Astro Bot 2025 DLC confirmed and probably Astro Bot 2 eventually. Sony is gonna shoot that robot to the moon.
OHH OH YEAH OH
@Silvereyes and I watched the stream together on a VC and weāre pretty impressed and interested inā¦
Hazelightās next co-op game. It comes out in freaking MARCH!! Looks really fun too. I love the swapping genres/themes angle of this. Feels like we can REALLY get some cool sequence of levels in this one.
It Takes Two is GOTY so hard. Amazing co-op game too. Great platformer that constantly has new and interesting powers each level. (And a bonkers (dark) story of two parents in a fractured relationship trying to escape a nightmarish transformation into dolls, and⦠ah yeah the plot is weird. Feels like itās supposed to be approachable to kids, but suddenly has dark morbid turns (in cartoonish fashion) or some language I definitely donāt think should be tossed around kids.
I hope Split Fiction is good (and well-priced!)
I just woke up and have been looking at the game awards announcements they announced a Okami sequel??
Also this looks kinda fun
And I hope with the name crossworlds this is another collaboration racing game
Turn-based RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 launches April 24th on PlayStation, Xbox (+Game Pass) and PC.
The more Iāve seen of it, the more intrigued Iāve gotten.
Given recent events, Iām very excited that a new Sniper Elite is coming out next week.
Also hereās someone who found fun in not playing it the proper way, and being restricted from saving at a press eventā¦
Also, in marketing they keep bringing up āNew Propaganda Missions!ā Without saying what the heck that meansā¦
Sounds like itās special time-attack challenges if this article is anything to sayā¦

Brand new to the series is Propaganda Mode. Unlocked by discovering Propaganda posters hidden within the main Campaign, this new game mode lets you play as a Resistance fighter in thrilling quick fire challenges against the clock.
Donāt know how I feel about this. Looks like a big departure from 2016 and Eternal. Weāll see how it goes.
When I was half way through Eternal, I was extremely hooked. Then last half of Eternal killed all hype I had for the next instalment.
To me, the first half of Eternal functions as a tutorial and the later levels is the devs going āhere, you know how to play now, have fun killing demonsā. The game is a masterclass in engagement and micromanaging. Youāre constantly making split second decisions, flying through the air and the glory kills were amazing.
What killed your excitement?
Itās hard to tell without having played it but The Dark Ages looks nothing like it. Single plane, parry here and there, weak looking melee attacks, a gun (that admittedly looks awesome) you donāt have to aim. The new āglory killsā looked very subpar compared to what has preceded it. Maybe itās more fun than it looks, weāll see. Also not a fan of the mention of sandbox level design.
It got dull and somewhat repetitive. I enjoyed D2016 from start to finish, this game just didnāt hook me. The music though was great all throughout.
Hm I was quite excited for this when it was announced but yeah not sure about the gameplay either, especially the Sandbox aspect, that sounds like it could really slow things down (if you want to actually find stuff).
Not sure about the dragon and mech combat either, that just feels āout of ideasā to me. Hopefully it isnāt too big a part of the game.
But I think the shield looks fun, and although what they showed appears to be, the game isnāt necessarily limited to one-plane of movement - thereās a bit where they sort of grapple across a gap and I can see that being used to access higher up areas for some verticality.
I think the new Doom looks sick.
Never got around to Doom Eternal. Loved Doom 2016.
Not sure how itās been possible for me to have missed every piece of news about this game. Big fan of the previous two games but havenāt been playing the for a good while and not been following any other content about the franchise either. So yeah, just learnt about the game and itās a great surprise lol. Gotta buy it immediately.
Hahah, it was only announced about 6-8 months ago⦠and itās essentially a smaller spin-off, in between title while Rebellion most likely works on making SE6 and whatever unique improvements or mechanics to that game.
Reviews have come out this week and yeah. Resistance is just more Sniper Elite 5, but thatās a good thing. (Or bad depending on what you didnāt like about that entry)
The price seems a little high for what is essentially āthe very same, but moreā, but heck it, with a few gift card things this holiday and a 10% discount on the Deluxe version on PSN, Iāve already pre-ordered it, since Silvereyes and I are most likely going to get great fun out of this title just like the last twoā¦
Haha yeah noticed itās been quite a while, havenāt played 5 since last May though. The game definitely does look exactly like 5, which is my favorite SE game, so I bet itās going to be fun to play. If itās not broken, donāt fix it.
Ohh yeah, reminder that auteur Josef Faresā next co-op game comes out March 6!
New Gameplay trailer teasing new āside storiesā and also the game has officially gone gold! @Silvereyes
Split Fiction - An Introduction to Side Stories
Without wanting to spoil them all, you can look forward to experiencing Side Stories featuring a daring mountain climb filled with Giants, riding Sandfish across a desert and snowboarding while performing killer tricks down a mountain - under heavy fire. Other Side Stories will have you become pigs and finding out exactly how sausages are made, chasing enemies while water-skiing and exploring the depths of space on a spacewalk gone wrong ā these are just a few examples of Mio and Zoeās imagined Side Story scenarios, which they now have to live out (and escape from) all the while adding even more crazy and chaotic gameplay variety on your adventure through Split Fiction.
ā¦
Fun Fact - Hazelight Studios host internal Game Jams in their studio alongside regular game development where they all work together to come up with all kinds of crazy new gameplay mechanics and unexpected story moments. Hazelight then takes the best ideas and creations and adds them into their games ready to give you never before seen co-op experiences and mind blowing moments. This is how Side Stories are brought to life for you to experience at launch!
Seems like based on that, plus the trailer, these āside storiesā will be mini levels inspired by other IP, like Alice in Wonderland with that massive fantasy cat, Dune with the sand-worms, or I guess SSX with that Snowboarding level??
