I currently only need the sound effects for the scores to be turned off when the HUD element is turned off.
They fixed it in HITMAN 2, and I believe in IO to fix it in HITMAN 3, too.
Literally unplayable – kidding, but it’s making me paranoid because there are sound effects without the corresponding UI element.
Find the Maelstrom, the Data Core and the Case File shouldn’t be optional. The levels are specifically built around those. The virus, the clues and picking up stuff in two target missions should be optional. The Virus should be optional because there’s still a benefit to doing it as it isolates DeSantis. The clues are for story purposes so you could have a Colorado style cutscene added in of 47 gathering the clues if the person wants to experience that story beat again. I might be able to make an exception for the building contract and virus as it’s relatively non-intrusive and those levels are really short and have some interesting gimmicks centred around them changing hands. But if you want to play Mumbai without the hidden target or Dartmoor with only one objective Contracts mode exists.
I still think that the Camera should identify the Maelstrom but he shouldn’t be identified automatically. The whole thing that makes him different is that non-intrusive hook. Like you can use easy mode instinct to find him, that’s a good idea. The Berlin targets aren’t built around that mystery nearly as well, that level is based around routing not the mystery. The whole point of that map with every piece of dialogue and scripting is to teach you about the Maelstrom. It’s like having Hokkaido where Soders is just dead automatically. And another reason why it’s a bad idea: MrFreeze has suggested it, and that guy’s an idiot.
I don’t think the solution to all objectives should be “make them optional”. The data disks in New York could be improved by making Perez and Mann optional target’s so you could use accident kills on them. Even then that’s a good objective. There should maybe be new fast forward starting locations for Miami, Hawke’s Bay and maybe others that start the mission after the race is over or Alma has arrived. But personally I don’t think we should go so far a story to strip every unique feature of a level away. Like we complain about these games being too samey then when they do something different we bitch and moan?
Why? Figuring it out is part of the puzzle.
Make illegal items and actions require a hold. Legal ones require just a push.
It’s an unnecessary complication, which will mess with your muscle memory, and a very poor game design choice. No one would ever assign two different inputs to a single action. The only way I see that implemented is like an option in the settings, like, “Change Hold and Push actions”, which will fully change all Hold actions to the Push actions and vice versa.
And no shoulder swapping doesn’t mess with muscle memory?
I agree, I was just trying to answer a question about what some one else said. I don’t see a reason to get rid of any of the level objectives.
I would love to see additional uses for the camera in the older levels. I think I mentioned it somewhere else but it seems right to put it here. There’s a lot of places where intel items are found (bare knuckle boxer recipe, stage schedule, etc.). Why not use the camera to pick these up instead of 47 just reading them? It’d give an instant use for a gear item (that you cannot ever Not have in inventory now) and it wouldn’t require us to believe that 47 just remembers all of it after glancing at a piece of paper.
It does, but you still can swap shoulders while in combat.
I agree. The camera would be a better addition if it had uses in 1 + 2.
ET’s definitely really amp up the tension, especially since you’re locked in after killing a target. In my opinion though, this creates an issue for the multiple target ET’s like the Deceivers. In my original attempt on Hitman 2, I aced one of them and slipped up on the second and failed the run. I think a good change would be that if there’s multiple targets in one ET contract, you’re only prevented from restarting once you take out both of them. Also, the always online thing really sucks here, since being disconnected means potentially failed an ET. The least they could do is allow you to retry if you’re booted out from this.
I look forward to more but based off of the underwhelming amount of Hitman 2 ET’s and how are first Hitman 3 ET is a rerun, I’m not too confident in how many we’ll receive.
I was just replaying Hawke’s Bay yesterday to finish up all the challenges and I found myself really wishing for a fast-forward start to at least after Alma finishes her really long phone call. I got so tired of hearing her talk about hostages, lol.
He suggested in his map tier list or in his first impressions that he wants the Maelstrom to always be identified.
I don’t personally see how bullshitting casual players can fix a problem that needs no fixing.
If you wan’t to do the objectives, do them, if you don’t, don’t. They’re optional for a reason. Oh, and the “optional” part of it is only unlocked upon the first completion.
Same thing goes with your POV; if you want to do the objectives, do them anyway, It’s not like the sign saying optional blocks you from playing the game how you want to play it.
Once again, you’re not stripping away every unique feature, you’re making it OPTIONAL for players who already played it.
You’re just making an overly-complicated resolution to a problem that needs no fixing. Making gameplay compatible with the thousands of ways to play a game is much better than centring it around hardcore purists, it makes more money and appeals to a larger audience.
Know what I agree. Sometimes casual players find enforcers too hard, let’s remove those. In fact, let’s start the level with all targets optional, and you can head to an exit immediately. After all, I can just do it if I want to do it.
How is playing the level as the experience it’s intended to be “bullshitting” them? Should we go back to Blood Money and make the Crows all seeable through the map? Should we make the microfilm optional so A New Life requires less strategy?
Making it optional means players will skip it 100% of the time. Who escorts the Constant at the end of Sgail beyond the first challenge for it?
Yeah you’re right, the Maelstrom and Data Core don’t need fixing because it makes those levels better.
How is asking a player to play the game as intended “centring it around hardcore purists”? Are casuals really so stupid they can’t figure out how to find a target without easy mode instinct? They aren’t, casuals are smarter than that.
Also when you appeal to a larger audience you get shit like Absolution. Hitman is inherently a niche thing and making it less challenging and require less strategy and thought is not worth appealing to a wider audience. I already thought Hitman 3 was weaker overall than 2 because it went for an easy, “cinematic” experience (still a good game). I don’t want it to retroactively ruin Hitman 2.
Yeah that’s true, it’s part of the level, in Colorado i always do the shelter bit, unless i’m speedrunning, but i’m glad they made extra exits for the mission and as for the clues on Another Life, there’s enough of them to mix it up
Making other objectives optional wouldn’t be easy without changing logic behind them. Data core in Chongqing makes sense, because Olivia says she can just hack it herself so it’s your choice. Changing things like for example Sapienza virus, or Dartmoor case file without making some explanation would feel forced and weird. I wouldn’t want IOI to blindly follow our requests just to satisfy us for a moment, before noticing that it created new issues.
Plus the Dartmoor and NY objectives have multiple approaches in different locations unlike the Tornado Shelter.
All of 47’s outfits should become visibly wet when standing in the rain.
Yes! Agreed 100%. That plus they should soak in Haven. Hopefully that’s easy to code, use the regular model up until you go into water then use half regular and half wet model.
